Man, every time I see these incredible custom made pouches and stuff made by some tiny shops in US or somewhere and I'm always mad I won't get my hands on these because of shipping ridiculousness. So refreshing to see something right out of my home country! This may be just the thing I need for my switch from a regular shifter to one of these!
You gotta love it... custom leather work from a small shop in Eastern Europe. It’s not every day that globalization helps the little guy, so it’s great to see this sort of thing. Lots of craftsmen like this on Etsy.
I can't overstate how awesome these pliers are. Especially the pliers wrenches. I have every size but the 150mm in the wrench. The Alligator is also a fantastic lower cost option to the Cobra.
I couldn’t remove a stuck rusted bolt with them they kept slipping which I was surprised because I thought they would be able to handle that but they didn’t so I grabbed my cheap pair of vise grips and it took the bolt right off.
@@corycg9624 well yeah, vise grip pliers are always going to hold better, assuming you lock them in properly. But as an all around tool, the Cobra pliers, Raptor pliers, and the Pliers Wrench are really good. I'm surprised you had them slip, 99% of the time they won't
Good video, but why do Americans pronounce words in such a weird way. Do you pronounce 'Knife' as 'K'...nife? I already know that you don't pronounce 'know' as 'K'..no ! It's a German name... Nip...ex ! That's not so hard... it's not a knot. ...Herb is not 'erb' ... not that I've 'heard' here in Australia. Cheers
Great information. I recently purchased the three (3) piece Knipex tool set (long nose, diagonal cutter, and cobra pliers). I have been on the fence to pull the trigger to buy Knipex but, after a year of contemplating; it was time. Through your video, I ordered the two (2) piece plier set (7” and 10”). In addition, I also purchased the belt sheath in the right hand carry. I have been communicating with Anna and she has been extremely helpful. Lastly I also subscribed to your channel. Keep up the great content.
On Central/North Europe, they make some of the best gear and tools I use daily! From Victorinox Spirit X and Explorer, to Knipex tools and from Helikon-Tex, to Wera and Wiha. Hanwag Tatra II are the best pair of boots I ever had! Most of my fixed blades, are made there too. Like my TRC Knives Mille Cuori! I could keep writing lines, full of gear from those parts of Europe...!
Idk what this company has to truly offer. But this is a quality looking tool pouch. I work with leather every once in a while, as a hobby, but only when I want something made tough without looks in mind. I am just throwing out an idea for viewers. I already had an OCCIDENTAL snip holder. It was just sitting in my tool box. I now carry, two 7 inch pliers, and a vampire plier in it for an edc. So one pocket carries 3 sets of pliers, the wrench pliers, the cobra, and a vampliers. The 3 best pliers I've ever set my hands on. I added a strap so they don't fall out. I'm going to try it until I can find something better. It works pretty well for now. Now I need a tape holder added for my Stanley 12' tape measure. I carry those 4 tools everywhere I go. And I truly don't know how I've lived life without them. Awesome tools for certain. I have spent a lot on knipex in a month. Worth every cent in my book. I highly recommend them.
Awesome. Will have to look into one, but which size to choose? I use my Plier Wrenches every day at work. I usually have the 6" in a pocket, switch it for a 7" when i know i'm gonna be working on something, & have the 10" in my bag or pouch. The 10" is a real time saver changing out gas tanks in large banks. For an inexpensive option, I've had great luck w/ "Hide & Drink" leather goods. They're handmade in Guatemala, fair trade & come w/ a card signed by the maker. They're not perfectly made, but they have truly excellent quality, full grain leather & strong stitching. They have pocket protectors & tool pockets that make great slip cases for pliers and other tools. Most of that is $20 or less.
I carry the 150mm pliers wrench and Leatherman Wave every day at work. If I know I’m going to be working more in the office and not actually working on any equipment I’ll swap them out for the 125mm Cobra and my SAK Super Tinker.
Thanks for the comparison, great to have all of the models in the description! And huh that is a cool holder! A small note though: I think you pronounce "knipex" with a silent "k" (we in Belgium do this at least). Keep that good stuff coming!
Everyone may speak as he can, but if you want to pronounce it correctly, the „K“ IS spoken, since it‘s German - there are no silent ks in my language. Btw if you are interested where the name came from: the maker is Gustav Putsch KG, but in the 1920ies most German tool producers had just their name as a brand. But Mr. Putsch jun. thought he should have a brand name which explains what his pliers are best at - cutting - and so he created an acronym of „knip“ (which is a dialect word for shearing/cutting) and „ex“, Latin: = „off“. In English one might translate it to cut-off... but „Knipex“ sounds nicer, doesn’t it?
I'm so glad that you pointed out the pronunciation. Silent letters are not that hard... unless you're and American where they chop and change English in weird ways. Cheers... from Australia 🇦🇺
NOT LYING...... I just got done messaging this company then came here to youtube to see if I can find anything about these pliers and the 1st video I clicked on was your about the same company I messaged!!! I'm seeing if they can make 1 sheath to fit both 5 inch pliers in 1
The opening question to how to carry your favorite Knipex Tools. With great pride! Because you have the best quality tools out there and your job's going to be easier because of these tools, likely turn out better as well.. I love all my Knipex Pliers cobra/alligator, wrench pliers, every other specialty pair of pliers they make.
I EDC the 125 cobras, for work I use a leatherman OHT, the standard nylon sheath it came in disintegrated in no time and I hated the velcro. I bought the standard leatherman leather Surge snap closure sheath and cut the flap off at the height of the OHT for a sweat guard and for comfort and easy retrieval. Drilled the rivet off the case for the snap and thought it was the greatest ever. Until I found I could tuck the 125 cobras in the little elastic pocket behind the multi-tool. Now I have real pliers in addition to the needle nose the leatherman provides. It's a great combo. I do keep a set of 150 cobras and 150 pliers wrench in a knipex sheath for slightly more serious work but I don't keep that on my person.
I tried using Knipex pliers before to loosen a rusted stuck bolt and I couldn’t get the bolt off so I grabbed my cheap pair of vise grips and it took the bolt right off I was disappointed I really thought they would have the ability to remove a stuck rusted bolt but they couldn’t I don’t know maybe I’m not strong enough but the vise grips did it a lot easier.
I made a belt pouch for a 125 mm Plierwrench , and Cobra ,+ a Stilletto Ti. Prybar . I have bigger sizes in my Packout . That’s a nice sheath ! I’m a fairly accomplished leather worker , and roll my own pouches .
I really like this a lot. The pliers wrench is on of the useful hand tools I own. Having the ability to comfortably carry it on me at work is going to make a huge difference.
I'd go regular grip on these, All mine are. The regular grip is more than comfortable enough so there's nothing to gain but extra bulk with the comfort grip
I agree with Adam Lee, I like the regular grip. The most useful for general use are the 180, 250, and 300 models. Most people who like to EDC them prefer the 125 and 150 models.
@@danielorozco1728 Pioneer X if you want alox, Compact if you don’t. If scissors are your thing, you might also like the Leatherman Micra (just got the stainless version and I’m blown away... better than a 58mm Victorinox, imho).
Do you ever use the 150's? I skipped the 150, and the 250 size because they didn't seem to offer very much in terms of extra capacity vs size. The 125 can almost open up to the same capacity as the 150's, but are slimmer, and the 180s are almost the same thickness as the 150's, Same situation with the 250's. I ended up getting: 1x 125 1x180 1x250 angled 2x300 1x400
I can't wait to get the xxs version of the cobras. I hate the grip on the normal cobras, wish they had an option for grips more like channel locks, or their pliers wrench.
