Welcome to my channel! I'm so happy you're here and I hope you enjoy! I started a knitting podcast because I didn't see many podcasts hosted by plus size knitters and wanted more representation for us, so why not make one myself?

The Aeque Cowl is super wearable and fun and would let you show off the gorgeous yarn right near your face. It’s a quick knit, but I find I reach for it tons - I am a shawl knitter and wearer, but the total lack of fuss on this one while still keeping my neck warm makes it a definite winner for me!

Those bootie slippers look soooo cozy!! I love how you got the suede to sew on the bottom. Also, even after knitting probably 30+ pairs of socks, I find sometimes a pair still doesn’t fit quite right. There’s so many factors - gauge with different yarns, stitch pattern, heel type - so I think it’s pretty impressive that you were only slightly off on foot length on your second pair without ever having Doyle try them on!!! 😊 👏

Thanks for sharing your opinion, Whitney. Currently working on a colourwork project using La bien Amiee Mohair Silk and Knitting for Olive Silk Mohair. The difference is massive in my case; for the base I'm using, in both cases, the same merino from a local yarn dyer). Knitting for Olive (£7.75 per 25g ) is so soft and makes the fabric look so luxurious, whereas Le Bien Amiee (£39.5 per 50 g ball) is just your typical mohair, like drops. I'm so disappointed that I paid so much for Le Bien Amiee Mohair...so I do understand the disappointment when the end result is not as expected.

And everyone experiences mohair differently too! I've seen a lot of knitter complain about Drops mohair and applaud KFO and I personally like Drops better 😅

Hi Whitney, it was so good to spend some time with you today, and see all your beautiful projects. You're so fun and such a nice person❤ and I really enjoy your videos - especially the podcast episodes - because I think your knitting pace is very similar to mine. I also have a couple projects going but I surely can't make tons and tons of progress on each of them, from week to week. With all these "all I knit in 2023" kinda videos - which I still watch and enjoy - I really like also seeing people that, just like me, don't have super knitting speed and make progress on their projects little by little, maybe slowly but steadily💪 In the end, everyone have to do what work for them, and I'm happy with my knitting journey, also because it is called "slow fashion" for a reason, isn't it?😂

That's exactly how I feel! I'm super impressed by knitters that can crank out so many patterns and have dozens to show in their year-end wrap up videos, but I just can't knit that fast (and a lot of those knitters are much smaller than me so they can finish projects a lot faster anyway). I'm so glad you enjoy my podcast episodes 🥰

Another lovely podcast Whitney, thank you. I really enjoyed your honest book review as usual. How about a bow accessory from Augustins DK for your sparkly yarn? You could wear it in your hair or on a handbag or use it as a festive decoration. Or perhaps some mittens or some gloves? You would get to see it a lot while wearing it in that case. It's so beautiful, I hope you find the perfect pattern. xx

Hmmm, a bow accessory would be super cute, but I'll have to think about if it would work with my short hair 😂

Hi Whitney! I love folded collars but really dislike the look of the purl row, so I always recommend doing 3 rows of double knitting so it will fold very naturally and look like a tubular cast on edge in your collar. I tell you, it looks polished and beautiful!

I'm on my 3rd pair of socks for the year! I just started knitting them 😊. I gave 1 pair to a cousin and she said they are really comfy. I'm working on socks for my husband right now, not secretly though. I asked him if he liked more of the allover stockinette look more or ribbed and he liked the ribbed look so I've been getting his feedback on them as I go. 😊

Firstly thank you for your pleasant company whilst I knit! I love the WIP in pink n blues. Really suits you. In regard to books. I’m an audiobook listener as I love books and can’t knit and read! I’ve experienced the same issue where I’ve listened to a book and felt I’ve heard the story before. I thought it was me or dejavu. I’ve been watching your podcast for a while but I’m my tv. So I have to go on my phone to comment. Worth doing as I wanted to tell you I enjoy your podcast so much.

Loved seeing all your FOs and WIPs girl!!!! That you made the slipper socks with your wedding yarn?!! I was tearing up too!!!! For patterns to use with that yarn, I love the Sandstone Scarf by Mollie of White Owl Crochet. It's a simple knit rectangle one-skein-wonder and I made one and wear it in my hair all the time! It also makes a beautiful altar cloth if you're into tarot or a cute scarf to tie onto beach bags :)

That yarn would be beautiful as a hat. I made a split brim beanie bonnet type hat. Such a game changer for me as I don’t usually like hats as I find they don’t cover my ears and my hair at the back of my neck pushes the hats up and off. Loving my bonnet though, which has tassels and Pom poms too 😅 I think you are my spirit animal 😂. I also hate sock knitting, I seriously thought I was the only person who doesn’t knit socks. I made a pair once and I just didn’t like the way they felt. I feel like I could feel every stitch under foot which I don’t find with store bought socks and no way am I knitting in that small gauge. I’m happy to hear about a designer caring about fit. I look at so many patterns and as soon as I see the back and the front have the same stitch count I know it’s not for me. I have a belly and a large bust and I want my side seams to actually be on my side so even knitting a size that fits me but with a 50/50 split it just fits weird. I am actually out off paying for sweater patterns now as they never fit and I end up doing so many modifications for full bust shaping and short rows that I don’t know what I paid for. I sew my own clothes too and spent time creating a bodice block pattern which I now use instead of buying patterns so I think 2024 for me will be the year of a knitting bodice block. I want a recipe I know fits and I can add cables, textures and colours later. Sorry for the rant 😂
@knittedbywhitney
@knittedbywhitney 7 месяцев назад
Ooooh that sounds like such an interesting concept of creating bodice block for knitting! I know there are some really detailed designers like Jennifer L. Parroccini and Amy Sher who include bust darts and other shaping options that help you completely customize the fit of sweaters, but I totally understand your reluctance to keep trying patterns when you know they don't work for you. ❤️

Love seeing all your makes! And -- AMEN to the JLA review. I just finished reading the last book in the series and I was so mad about it. The pacing was dreadful, the last 50 pages were barely readable, and there are so many loose threads. Where on earth where her editors?

Hello Whitney. I wish you happy new year and as we say here in Greece, happy new year with good health above all. As far as your special yarn, i don't think it is enough for a top. (maybe the Summer Secret Crop) Make a nice pair of mittens. You are going to see it in your hands and that will make you happy.....or make a Cowl
@knittedbywhitney
@knittedbywhitney 7 месяцев назад
Happy new year to you too! Yes, I'm pretty sure it's not enough for a top, so I'll probably make a scarf or shawl. I'm hesitant to make mittens because they would get a lot of rough wear and this yarn is too pretty to endure that 😄

@@knittedbywhitney May i ask why you dont knit her patterns? I am new to the community and havent explored her patterns before but did already realise how often i hear other people knit up her patterns. Would love to check out more. Thank you for your video :)
@knittedbywhitney

@@yasmins1306 I've never bought or knit any of her patterns, so I can't speak to the fit of them, but for a long time she refused to add larger sizes to her patterns. It really bugs me that she was so reluctant to be size-inclusive and yet she has a huge following and is very popular, whereas there are tons of indie designers out there who have been size-inclusive from the beginning and get a fraction of the notice that PK does. What really annoys me about her though is that many of her patterns are repeats of each other almost to the point of carbon-copying because they even use the same gauge but she markets them as new patterns. It's just lazy designing in my opinion but she makes a lot of sales because of her popularity. I have plans to make a pattern roundup video of some of my favourite size-inclusive designers at some point, but just haven't gotten around to making it yet 🙂
@yasmins1306
@yasmins1306 7 месяцев назад
@@knittedbywhitney thank you so much for clarifying it. I really do understand why you dont like supporting her and with what i know now i am not going to do either. I do have a plus size body as well and the struggle is real to find good clothes that fit. So I really dont want to support someone with such an attitude but rather designers who happily make their patterns size inclusive from the beggining. A video rundup of your favorite designers would be so nice. Great that you already thought about doing it. Really looking forward to it, whenever you get to making it. Have a great day and greetings from Germany :)

@@knittedbywhitney I have been plus size and not plus size at different times in my life. Are we angry at every clothing manufacturer who does not make plus size garments? I think we have to understand that creating is art and everybody has to be true to their own aesthetic, even if it may not include us. My understanding is that she is including larger sizes now, but still totally get it if you choose not to knit the styles. I do agree about the similarity of patterns, that's certainly not ideal. On the other hand, I know my "Petite Knit gauge" and it saves a lot of swatching, lol!

Honestly I think you’re going to struggle with creating a tank or top that fits you well and that you like enjoy wearing with only 400m of yarn. I’m at the top end of the “straight sizing” range and I have made a couple of Ripple crop tops. None have taken up less than 800m of yarn. Make a beautiful cowl or scarf in a pattern you love!
