Dear Andrea and Madeline. I am a long standing patron and am always excited to see a new episode pop up. This is the first time I have ever commented and feel I must let you know that you ( and Andrew) have been inspirational to my knitting journey. I have just bought the Charming Colourwork Socks book after seeing your interview and will soon be choosing a pair to knit. I am in awe of your talents and aspire to be able to knit as well as you. This episode was fantastic and so well produced. I hope you continue to go from strength to strength. Thank you for all your hard work and dedication. Anne D xx
One of the reasons why I am a patron is that you never cease to enlighten me! Thank you for all that effort you put into making your channel so interesting! Please continue 🙏
The Knitting Pilgrim project is unbelievable! What a beautiful representation of the three faiths that are featured. As always your show has stretched the boundaries to bring us something new and inspiring. Happy Knitting from Vancouver Island, Canada.
I cannot begin to say how absolutely stunning these knitted panels are, from beginning to end! Thank you so much for bringing this artistry to your show. It is brilliant, and probably one of my favorite Fruity Knitting episodes ever!
I am Canadian & loved your Canadian theme contributers to knitting. Being a daughter to Holocaust survivors, now gone, I was extremely touched by both the Jewish stained window & how Islam & Christianity want peace. I hope this will happen for global safety. Kirk Dunn is extremely talented & reminds me of Marc Chagall's 12 Tribes Stained Glass Windows seen at Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem.. Seeing the death camps surrounding the window made me feel sadness & fear but going inward, there is hope, faith, love, peace & Shalom. I love your episodes. Much info & entertaining.
Your "fashion shoot" is an art piece of it's own!!! The shawl, magnificent, Madeline, exquisite, the setting, well chosen, the music embraces all. The whole show was great as well. I'll now be looking into that hand dyed yarn. Thank you.
I was very excited to see a new episode posted today! I love your projects. The shawl is an heirloom, the socks are cute and whimsical - and very adventurous for a first pair - and the sweaters are going to be beautiful. The Cabin Boy Knits segment was very interesting and, of course, the eye candy was fun. But then the Kirk Dunn segment! Just wow! As you said, a natural with the stories and explanations and what a story! Fascinating subject. I've always thought that we're all much more alike than different, too. And then the execution was masterfully artistic! I was riveted! Thank you!
As always, an informative and entertaining episode. Time spent watching your podcast is time well spent. I too have been bitten by the colour work sock bug. Following your interview with Charlotte Stone, I bought her book and I am making the Chilli socks for my chilli growing son for Christmas. Thanks for all you do.
Very interesting seeing Kirk Dunn's work - it so reminds me of another Canadian's sculptural knitting - Debbie New from Ontario. I remember seeing her work in the 1990's at a knitting festival in Kitchener-Waterloo Ontario and was blown away. She even has a book about her type of knitting, you might like to check it out. Unexpected Knitting.
I loved every minute of this episode. Madaline's jumper in progress is fabulous. And the shawl Andrea knit was gorgeous. Love the Cabin Boys. So interesting.
What a fun episode! Madeline's socks look very cute and the yarn from Cabin Boy knits looks stunning, actually I loved all their yarn. Also the result of Andrea's yarn and colour combination looks beautiful. Nice projects both of you. Both interviews were interesting and informative. Thank you very much for all the effort you put in those videos looking forward to the next one 😍🧦🧶
Andrea's gorgeous shawl shone in amongst the fabulous art pieces. Great choice of sites. What a fascinating interview. Those panels were magnificent. Thank you again for a wonderful podcast.
Hello from Canada! It was so fun to see some of your show placed in my own country. Your channel continues to give me joy with every episode. Best wishes!
Thank you for all you do to bring us interesting news from the knitting world. I love supporting this channel and working my way through the ranks of patrons. Madeleine’s knitting is getting ever better, but I am glad she owns up to keeping her mistakes in. That’s just being human and what us mere mortals (busy) would do, too. Andrea’s masterpiece shawl was perfect for the occasion and was a point landing for the wedding. I loved the knitting pilgrim and would love to hear more from him. I am catching up and look foward to the next episode, which has already dropped, yay! PS. The Canadian Cabin Boys were just lovely, I almost forgot to mention them, because the show was jam packed.
The shawl and the socks look fantastic! But I am also really intrigued by Kirk Dunn who produces fantastic and meaningful knitted art. Thank you for sharing!
This might be the best episode ever! I was so happy to meet the Knitting Pilgrim--- I love the he rolls knitting up with spiritual and creative pursuits so naturally and imaginatively. Kudos to Andrea and Madeleine for your ever-growing and ever-richer programming.. (Loved the Cabin Boys, too.)
Thank you for this beautiful episode. The interview with Kirk Dunn was so timely to watch with the recent horrific tragedies in Israel -it provided respite and hope.
Hi, Andrea and Madeleine. Madeleine, your coffee cup socks are gorgeous and your new cast on is already beautiful. Andrea, the shawl that you knit for your friend’s wedding is elegantly beautiful. Your new cast on is already looking so beautiful. I love your interview with Christopher and Jamie. The Knitting Pilgrim’s knitted stain glass is fantastically beautiful. Thank you for this video🙏❤️❤️
I really enjoyed the Cabin Boy Knits interview and plan to visit their website. Madeline, your socks look great and I love the shawl. Being both an artist and a knitter, I was very impressed by Mr. Dunn’s absolutely gorgeous and unique panels. I can’t begin to imagine the time he committed to the project. What an accomplishment. It belongs in an art museum.
What a lovely episode showcasing great fellow Canadians!! I saw Kirk and his show this spring here in Nova Scotia and am still blown away by his masterpieces. Looking forward to his next projects.
As always it was an interesting podcast. Madeline's showing of the shawl looked great with the background. It looks great on her too. Almost classic and I think that style really suits her. Kirk Dunn's part made me throw the knitting aside, I watched almost breathlessly and was really drawn into the rugs. I just barely had my nose pressed against the screen. What a great artist he is. Something I can only dream of. Now I am already a contrarian knitter and crocheter, I hate following patterns, I always want to put my own thing into it and I don't really like the traditional shapes and cuts. But this from Kirk... I love it. And of course all credits go to you for all the work you put into your episodes. Always something special and special people and beautiful environments and items that you make. Thank you for all the time and attention you put into it
As usual, this was a brilliant show. I really enjoyed it. The socks are turning out great! The lace shawl is stunning! I loved it modeled with the art. I'm also looking forward to knitting a project holding two yarns together. I can't wait to see yours as they develop. The progress so far is turning out beautiful. I want to applaud The Knitting Pilgrim for the beauty he has made and the depth of thought surrounding such controversial topics as world religions. It is wonderful to see knitting as art! His use of many colors to create one color is inspiring. Thanks for a great show!
What an amazing episode. Loved the socks,I am yet to start some for my daughter for Christmas. The knitted stainless windows were breath taking and I have sent the link to friends. Thank you girls you are amazing ❤
Thank you for another lovely and informative episode. As a Canadian, it is nice to see that both interviews featured my fellow countrymen. I’d love to meet the Cabin Boys and the Knitting Pilgrim one day. I am blown away by religious symbolism and look forward to the upcoming podcast. The socks are amazing and I love the lighter background behind the colourwork. The shawl is breathtaking and beautiful. ♥️
The Knitting Pilgrim segment was absolutely fascinating! I really enjoyed this episode. Thank you for bringing such new and amazing things into our lives so that we can learn and grow.
Fascinated by this episode. Loved the Canadian dyers and all the gorgeous natural colours. Amazed by the stained glass window knitting and to the dedication and stories behind each symbol/piece. Thank you both for your hard work creating such a special episode
The interview was fascinating! what an amazing piece of art! Also loved how Madeline seems to walk right into the forest at the end of the fashion show :)
Wow, Mr. Dunn. As a batik visual artist, designer, I have to admire your achievement. Amazing. This is Art. I love the pieces, and the expression of faith they illustrate. Beyond that, the use of color is humbling. So delicate and subdued.
Wow that was such an interesting episode as usual. The interviews were especially intriguing. Thank so much for sharing. The knitting pilgrim project was truly amazing. ❤
Another outstanding podcast! Madeleine’s socks are lovely and Andrea, the shawl you knit for Sofia is superb! Your sweaters are going to be wonderful too. Thank you for all your hard work and inspiration!
The socks are so cute Madeleine, and somehow remind me of your father. I love your jumper Andrea, so beautifully executed and your wonderful interview with the Cabin Boys who were my first visual experience of natural dyeing and the difference that the ph level of your water makes to the resulting colours achieved. Thank you so much. I’m so glad you both had such a good time at Sofia’s wedding. I think I understand what a labour of love knitting that beautiful shawl and such a generous gift of friendship too. I’m still processing all the information in this episode. Love your work.
Thank you both for the wonderful episode again. I wasn’t convinced that I would especially appreciate the knitted stained glass windows but now that I have seen the interview, I can look differently at them and must say, they are absolutely beautiful. When I saw what Madeleine picked for her next project, I thought you might want to give the designer Sari Nordlund a try. Most of her designs are playing with rustic lace and bobbles, too. And her patterns are extremely well written. (… This is not paid promotion !!! 😊)
Unbelievably great episode! Beautiful story to go along with the beautiful knitted religious panels. A true artist, and your interview captured his intentions and efforts so well. Thank you both for such quality podcasts.
What a wonderful episode! I so appreciate the work you do to put together such a wonderful show. Thank you. The shawl and socks are GORGEOUS. The knitted stained glass - it left me speechless. Thank you for introducing me to Kirk Dunn.
Wow, what an interesting interview with Kirk Dunn. I couldn't in a million years do what he did with the panels. I know that took a LOT of brain power, patience and determination to come to fruition. I hope these panels will be saved for future generations to look back on. Awesome!
Because of the episode with Charlotte Stone I purchased her book (which is actually the first knitting book I"ve ever owned and purchased). I have already knit two of the patterns in the book and funnily enough the coffee socks are going to be my next pair. This is the first time I've ever knit colorwork socks so her work is really speaking to me. I've learned a lot!
I swore I would never knit colourwork socks but I laughed so much during the interview that my husband said that of course I had to knit colourwork socks. A week or 2 later, I was visiting Brisbane and one of the yarn shops had the book - only 1 copy left - which is now mine! And I bought the yarn for the Coffee Bean socks!
Thanks so much for the interview with Cabin Boy Knits, they have a very funny podcasts. And the absolute amazing interview with Kirk Dunn. I also love the wedding shawl, and maybe it could become something borrowed for Madeline some day.
Another absolutely wonderful episode! I was looking forward to it. 😀 Thank you to both of you and the joy you bring to knitters and art lovers. I'm enjoying being a Fruity Knitting patron too. 💜
Wonderful show as always. As a PK here, I found the “Knitting Pilgrim “ segment very inspirational in many ways including the creative process and for my artwork. Looking forward to that podcast.
Great episode! The beaded shawl turned out so well. I’m loving the orange sweater Madeline is working on too. You’re encouraging me to keep slogging on my fingering weight colorwork sweater for myself for Christmas
What a fabulous episode-I especially was transfixed by the Knitting Pilgrim project. I've subscribed to his podcast and look forward to learning more about this epic presentation. Thank you for sharing his work with us!
Great episode! I'm kicking myself because I missed his show near my home town so what a treat to be able to see the "windows" and learn about them. Thank You!
Beautiful projects in Bring n Brag and Works in Progress! Those socks are amazing, especially as first time sock knitting! Thank you for the inspiring interviews. Great episode, as always!
Those socks look way more stunning in Madeleine's choice of colour, what a beautiful job! And the explanations were very helpful. Great episode! Thank you!
Thank you for bringing The Knitting pilgrim to us, it’s an eye opener! How someone can use knitting to tackle serious issues is mind blowing! Madeline inspired me with her Coffee break socks and I now have a pair of Coffee break socks. It was my introduction to color work and a steep learning curve but I did it! Thanks to Fruity knitting for all the inspiration and amazing content you bring to us. The Hortense shawl is gorgeous and the images accompanying the photo shoot are simply stunning!! A huge Thank you to both of you for all the hard work you put in. Thanks also for the regular discounts that I always make best use of.
What an extraordinary work of art, from each of the visual, technical, and spiritual perspectives! Thank you so much for introducing us to this amazing work. And your fearlessness and technical skills, Andrea, in making the modifications to create the garment YOU want is truly inspiring. Bravo to you both!
Beautiful knitted panels! I didn't catch how much they weighed in yarn alone. FYI, here in Canada, whether you speak English or French, the 's' in Metis is silent.
