Just found you. Am a knitter who loves to read. Sadie Smith is a very talented writer. Her writing is lots of things to different people. I read The Fraud a few months ago and found it a interesting challenge but did finish the book and was glad I did. The short chapters did not affect me like you but I understand that this aspect of her style isn't for everyone. Hope you will pick the book up again sometime in the future. The story and characters are terrific. Loved your knitting projects. Thank you!

That would be a dream come true for me. I hope one day I get to test knit. I've never applied to do it, not even sure how one goes about it.

Ha ha - yes, it is but I'm wanting the thrill of signing it in person. The book is set in NL and I'm wanting to make a return trip to put myself back into the setting for a week as I start into the final edits with the publisher's editor. I'm also hoping to visit all the friends I made on the five trips I took doing initial research and writing it.

Loved your podcast. Your beautiful Forestland sweater thumbnail caught my attention. I purchased this pattern a while back, and you have inspired me to get it onto my needles :-). Funny enough, I had also been checking for fingerless glove patterns. Thank you so much for making your pattern available! I love the idea of short rows in the pattern. Makes total sense! Love your book recommendations as well. I've started watching all of your podcast now. Right up my alley! Congratulations on your book publication! What an amazing accomplishment!! Great suggestion for the fibre arts guild. Never thought of it, I'm definitely going to check it out. btw, I live in Victoria, one of your provincial neighbours :-)

Thanks for your positive feedback. Definitely try the forestland sweater! AS for y fingerless gloves, I originally goofed when I wrote up the pattern by taking the stats off of a pair I made with a sport weight yarn. They stitch count for cast on is the same but sometimes I'll add an extra couple of rows before starting the thumb increase and a row or two before or after the short rows on the hand. I'm not a professional designer, just wrote it up how I make them so I suggest just trying them on as you go. I LOVE the island! Spent a month there last summer trying to dodge the smoke here in the Okanagan. Lucky you! And yes, check out your local fibre arts guild. Cheers!

Your Forestland sweater is beautiful. Glad to know your experience with the pattern was positive as I did buy two of her designs! I finished my Versal sweater just yesterday and it is so nice. I'm working on my second pair of socks and a shawl (Isabelle Kraemer's Frosty Pine Shawl) to gift to someone. Congratulations on your book contract. Have a wonderful trip to the publishing office. Safe travels. (oh, I almost forgot, I got the yarn for my Shift cowl and I can't wait to work that one up.---Thanks for sharing your projects and inspiring me.)

Hi Anne, you'll LOVE knitting The Shift. It's one of those addicting patters that makes you want to keep knitting it. The repeats make it fairly easy to memorize so you don't need to keep referring back to the patter for every row once you get into the groove of it. I'm actually thinking of knitting a third one with my hand spun. Congrats on finishing your Versal sweater! I'll have to check out Isabel Kraemer's Frosty Pine Shawl. I like her designs. thanks again for your positivity and kind words.
