OMG I'm making a merino twisted loop top toooo!!! I'm at the same spot as you - about to put it in the round. So exciting! I'm knitting it as part of a group knit. Excited to see how everyones' turns out ^_^
Oooh awesome!! That's super fun that you're doing it as part of a group knit too! I actually realized there were armhole decreases for the back panel so I was a little farther from joining in the round as I thought haha. But NOW I'm actually about to join in the round! 😂 Hope you enjoy knitting yours!!
Love your channel ❤ I used Expression Fibre Arts video tutorial from 7 yrs ago to wind my yarn with a centre pull. I’m still planning on someday buying a Swift and winder, but hand winding each skein as I need it has been working pretty good 😊

I tried hand winding once, and I had pulled way too tightly such that my cake was super dense and I did feel like I was cutting off circulation to my thumb 😂 I definitely could have practiced to get better at it, but I quickly resorted to only buying yarn at places that would also wound it for me haha.
Just found your podcast. Nice alpaca yarn, but if it was me I would add a strand of wool yarn to keep some structure to a garment as alpaca has none.Happy knitting.

Good morning Yiqi, Nice to be able to play your latest episode while I start 1st day of spring knitting on my sock. The cognac colored vest is simple yet stunning, you did a perfect job knitting it. It is a versatile garment that goes with a lot of things. I also love your Oslo sweater. Simple and lovely. The dropped stitch will NEVER be noticed - but I know the frustration when you try to knit a perfect project and find a mistake after the fact. I'm on the hook for my son's wool sweater then I've got to knit a sweater for his wife that is Juniper Moon Moonshine in Lagoon, a bright teal, so when you mentioned you got the Herriot yarn I was interested how soft and squishy it is. I love their yarn!!! I picked up some Juniper Moon Zooey which has linen in it and it is soft and squishy as well. Can't wait to complete these winter projects so I can move on to the fun lighter knits! Your ribbed tank project is so cute. You might want to knit your gauge swatch and wash it plus block it then measure the gauge. It may end up a more accurate pic of how the tank with fit when you are done. I hear you on wanting a fluffy mohair look that suits warmer climates. Until recently I lived in Southern California, where I discovered Rauma Alpacca-Lin. It's similar in gauge and look to holding two strands of mohair, but was much more wearable for me because it has a linen core with brushed alpaca fluff. I was knitting on my Cider House Socks by Summer Lee while watching this; it's my favorite cabled sock pattern lately. Love your pod

You're a mohair convert now :P And I was also influenced by Florence and swatched for a twist loop top in merino, but I found the rib so cumbersome and not enjoyable, but this is making me re-think it! Haha you know, I think it really is about time I get a swift and winder 😂 I just went to that yarn to and get my new yarn wound up, but when I got there I saw that they had closed early! Hey there! I love your podcast and I appreciate the amount of detail you share. Your Oslo sweater is gorgeous! (Also, I wanted to let you know, I think what the yarn is called is a blown yarn. A boucle yarn is more of a thick and thin experience. I realize unrequested advice is often criticism, but I had no idea that the acronym OOAK meant one of a kind for months because no one ever told me! So, I hope you hear the statement in love!) And I totally agree about the rib gauge thing. I always think, how the heck am I supposed to measure this?

I'm definitely still learning about different types of fibers, so I appreciate the learning opportunity haha and don't take it as criticism at all - and thank you for being so thoughtful and considerate!! Thinking through it, boucle typically looks a lot curlier whereas this yarn is definitely just fluff, so it makes a lot of sense that this would be called a blown yarn. Looove the colour of your vest no. 2. As far as hugging your Oslo wip, I totally get it - I knit a hat (Vitis Hat by Erendis of Numenor, gorgeous pattern) in a sport weight, merino mohair blend L bought from a local angora goat breeder, and after wearing it for the past three months, I still feel compelled to throw my face in it every time I see it lying around, to the point it is becoming awkward lol! I definitely had concerns about wearing mohair, but this yarn has completely changed my mind about mohair.

Beautiful knitting as usual!! Definitely invest in a swift and winder. For the amount of knitting you do it’s well worth it. Sometimes knit picks has sales on them and they aren’t too pricey.

Love your vest! I think I need to make one. Also, for future reference, the sock yarn you are knitting with is not “self striping”, it’s just regular variegated yarn. Depending on gauge, needle size, pattern and stitch count you might get flashing, pooling or a thin stripey look like you are getting. Self striping yarn looks much different before it’s wound than what your skein looked like. Your yarn is gorgeous and is knitting up really nice!

So happy to have found your channel today! By coincidence, I happen to be working on my step by step sweater in Noro miyabi🤣. How did yours do with blocking? Any major changes in size?
Hello!! And oh such a coincidence haha! And I actually did measure before and after blocking for this one (which I don't always do 🤣) and it grew about 1.5 cm width wise and 3 cm length wise! That could also have been a function with how I layed it out and shaped it on the blocking board though, and it dried in that shape. The fabric itself looked beautiful after blocking. Hope this helps!!
A suggestion from someone who edits on occasion, if you don't mind; it isn't necessary to edit out all of your natural verbal pauses. Human ears need a break from listening and, cutting out all pauses, tends to make the human voice sound monotonous and droning. On the knitting; you do a beautiful job on your projects.
Oh thanks for saying that! I hoped that cutting out dead space would make it more pleasant to watch, but that makes sense to leave in the natural pauses! It would save me some time with editing too 😂
