As soon as I saw Thea Colman's Goldwyn Folly, I knew I had to make it. I love everything about it, including the styling. And it just had some cables...I've done cables before, but they are not my favorite! So when I heard about the knit along, I cast it on.....I'm about halfway done now...
I was thinking about the Cloud Sweater. Yours just convinced me to add it to my queue. I'm on my second pair of After Midnight Mitts by Thea Colman. They're kind of addictive. Thanks for turning me on to her!
SHAWL, SHAWL BABY! LOL😂 I do love making shawls- and living in Maryland, I wear tgem quite often! You gals make me miss CT ( I grew up in Wallingford) and you always make me giggle!❤❤❤
Laura, I am in love with your Lenu sweater. I think it looks great on you and the color is very nice. Even though you have doubts. Grey goes with everything. Can you please share the two colors you used. I greatly appreciate it. Your podcast is the BEST and always look forward to it. 😘
I love your podcast. I saw the Gambier and now I have to make it. This is the 3rd podcast I have watched today and now there are 2 shawls and a cardigan in my Raverly library. Oh my, I need to knit faster.
Shawl - I’ve been watching your podcast since the first few episodes and you ladies never disappoint. Your friendship and laughter is contagious. Are you friends because of knitting or knit together because you were friends. Diane from Boston
Another lovely podcast ladies. Laura-I found your yarn in someone stash on Ravelry-even same dye lot. Left a previous comment but I don't see it, also sent a message via Insta. Hope you get what you need.
I always enjoy watching you ladies--you are so real and so fun!! I agree with Laura that knitters need a posse! I have a group I knit with most weeks--we met at a LYS that closed during Covid, so we are grateful to have each other!! Laura, I LOVE your Tuku sweater--gorgeous!! I can't wait to see what you have to show next time!
Nice baby sweaters and buttons...I'm knitting a few jacket type. Choosing the buttons was the funnest part. Laura, if you have to finish the sweater with a different yarn I'd go a bit of a darker gray, not black. Also doing the sleeve cuffs with the darker gray would make it look more purposeful.
I finally caught up to date w/ your podcasts ...... I've been bingeing from your #1 for the past 3 weeks. Don't know what took me so long to "discover" your podcasts (except that I don't often Instagram), 'cuz the Ready Needles fellows certainly mention you, but often by first names. I soooo envy your camaraderie and opportunities to actually see and feel the yarn. I'm a Nutmegger, born (87 yrs ago) and raised (UConn grad) and still have family in CT. My Swedish g'mother taught me to knit combo continental at age 6-7, but in those days, it didn't have a name except "wrong" or "backwards" (my Mom knit English because of WW2 sentiments ) so I was mostly self-taught after Grandma gave me the basics...... til the miracle of the internet. Imagine my surprise to find that the style not only had a name, but people wanted to knit that way!!! After 30 yrs of dial-up and DSL (we live rurally .... no cable and cell service is finally giving us 2 bars at the house so we don't hafta long distance down at the cattle guard 2 mi down the road any more), we got StarLink 2 months ago (ah, the joy of no buffering!). Your podcasts are charming, informative, and lethal to the purse (somewhat restrained because computer representation can be kind of iffy).. We've a newly started knitting group at the nearest library branch and I'm hoping there'll be enough interest to get to the June Black Sheep Gathering in Eugene (like your CT Sheep Festival) this year. Thanx much for providing some knitting "family" for us out-lyers. Judy Beals Gold Hill, Oregon
I just found your podcast and it is great. Love your pink shawl, it is a great color on you.....I am addicted to shawls. I think a black band on the bottom of your gray sweater would be beautiful. or you can make it a vest?
Another enjoyable episode! Laura, you could also try searching for the yarn you need in Ravelry. People might have it in their stash and either are selling it, or might be convinced to sell! Shawl 😊
Laura, when I feel a little washed out from the color of a garment I put on a gold necklace that has a little bit of presence to it, and maybe a simple strand of pearls with it. That breaks up the color from your face and neck to the garment and adds a little something something, Just a thought… for when you might not want the warmth of a shawl or a scarf around your neck.
Thank you for another great podcast, ladies, so inspiring! Laura, you found the way to wear your gray knits : this pop of color with your pink shawl is just the perfect way to go! So just knit yourself a few small shawls in different vivid colors that suits you and you are all set! 😉
maybe Laura can do a small version of all the hedgehogs shawl to wear with her grey sweater :) And Kate, I am addicted to granny squares, we can Granny together. Can't wait to see Campbell in that sweater, Kim! Great episode posse :)
Good morning, great episode…you’ve inspired me to knit the Lenu.. also you were discussing ordering buttons….do you ladies have an online resource you might share? Thank you!
Dear Knitting Posse; Always such a joy to catch up with you ladies and see what you have been making. You never fail to inspire me with your gorgeous yarns and knits. Laura it's great to see you found a way to wear your gray sweater with a lovely accent shawl. Jacqui's new pattern is lovley; so nice of her to share with us! Take care and happy making!! Best Always ~ Lori ~
Always enjoyable spending time with you! Working on my #2 Hat for the Thea Colman KAL, having a great time making hats! Quick and easy! Laura, the way you have styled that shawl is great, and looks so good in that color on you! Those that have a Ravelry page would remember what the pattern is, lol.
Look at the contrast sweater by petite knits which has contrasting parts on the sleeves and body. That might work. I get lots of compliments on the sweater.
My in-laws couldn’t use there season tickets to the Hippodrome in Baltimore last year and gave us their tickets. I was so happy I have knit enough SHAWLS to wear a different one to each show.💕🧶
Hello ladies! I enjoyed your discussion about life before Ravelry. I remember thinking that, if I didn’t subscribe to Interweave magazine, I wouldn’t know anything about new patterns. Thanks, Kim, for the baby knits inspiration! I am expecting my first grandchild any day now and love getting new pattern ideas! Sea Monkey hat on the needles!
I so loved today’s episode!! And oh my gosh, I’m so flattered by the mention… Thank you! Meeting you all was definitely a highlight for me! I love all your beautiful knits-Kim I love your orange/rust slip over! Amazing color on you…..Laura, I love your ankestrik sweater!!! And Kate, OMG that cardigan, sooo cozy!!! Oh and Kim, love that necklace! Laura now knows I notice details lol!
Great episode as always😊Loved all the knits…adding Friday Slipover, Lenu, TUKU, and Fjiolla to the ever growing list of “must makes!” Shawn’s Gambier is awesome Kate and love the color combo for granny squares as well.Kim- hope you feel 100% soon. Laura…inasmuch now dreaming of all things green-lol.thanks for the shout out. Happy Crafting❤
You girls always make me smile and your knits positively inspire! Kim I’m glad you’re over the food poisoning. I had an episode when I was younger than you lo so many years ago and it was nasty! Wouldn’t wish it on anyone. Don’t know how I didn’t see you gals and so many other great podcasters at VKL Saturday, but I guess I was focused on yarn 😊 My first time and I loved every minute!
Another fun and inspiring podcast! You all crack me up and make me want to knit all the things :) I'm currently knitting the Eva cardigan, so it was great to see Kim's IRL (or at least in podcast life)! I'm now asking myself if I need a Gambier... or a small special color shawl...
Thanks for the great episode! So muc fun as always :). Kim your Rhumb Line sweater looks gorgeous. I find it a really warm one, great for really cold days (you’ll want sleeves), perfect for Vermont! Love everyone’s knits. Laura your recent FO is GORGEOUS! The motif on the front is so pretty. Kate - you have me inspired to knit some lovely textured hats. Thea Coleman is sooo talented! Thanks again!!!
Thanks for sharing your VKL experiences, it sounds like a wonderful experience! I like the shawl pattern you shared, it looks like a great way to use a skein of fingering weight yarn. ❤
I love watching the 3 of you. Inspiration and fun! I have a lot of knitting goals but I confess to being a shawl 'aholic'. I am always cold in A/C and they are great to have when it's 100 degrees outside but 60 in a restaurant! Laura, I think you should embrace the color block idea but consider the idea of making the bottom of the sweater lighter than the rest and allowing the Rico yarn to stand out more in that section.
I have been watching podcasts from beginning over the past 3 weeks. I am trying to remember what the name of Laura’s red shawl she made. I thought it was in fingering and a long crescent type shape. Any thoughts? I want to thank you for all the information of different patterns and dyers, my list of to do has grown !
Diet by disease…not recommended! Glad you are feeling better Kim. I join you with the gorilla arms…a whole extra skein is right 😂. I also would be totally fan-girling Jess from Ravelry. I agree that it has revolutionized the knitting world. It’s absolutely brilliant…and mostly free. What an amazing service.
I love knitting shawls so thanks for a chance to win a new shawl pattern. You girls knit beautiful sweaters. Love seeing what you've made each podcast.
Shawl - would be great to wear in the cold!! Son in Ct - trip up soon and looking for knit store while visiting - enjoy you 3 and Im now in SC. But love hearing people that sound like me!!(from Boston). 😊
It was so great meeting you ladies, definitely feel the same way! So much fantastic knitting inspiration in this one! Laura, love your Tuku, it is now in my favorites, not that I need to be thinking about another cast on.😂
Love watching you three, you make the most beautiful knits. When I’m ready to knit a sweater all I have to do is rewatch to get inspiration. I currently knitting a shawl for my mom. I tend to only knit one item at a time, so it amazes me how many you have going.
Always lots of fun watching you gals! You are so upbeat and inspirational. I’m working on a crochet prayer shawl as a donation to our church’s knitting group.
We also knit at our local Library. It is open to our regular knitters as well as to the public to drop in. Many an enthusiastic knitter or crocheter, has learned their craft there. Many knit SHAWLS too! Lol
Laura…. I can understand totally the feeling about the tennis tournaments. In order to watch Sinner live… I was up at 2 or 3 am…. And has been so worth it! I have an obsession with the same dark green…. Ladies when I grow up I do want to be a great knitter as you 3 are.
Great podcast! All your sweaters are gorgeous but Laura, that pick shawl looks great on you. It was great to see you at VKL (Saturday) and thanks for the tape measure. I was wearing the grey/pink Super Selene sweater, Italian bindoff without the mohair :)
Shawl, shawl, shawl…..😂 Speaking of shawls, I. Wish Laura had taken off and shown the shawl she is wearing. It looks beautiful. Love the color. Thanks so much for your podcasts!
Laura, your shawl reminds me of a shawl I knit several years ago. I loved it because it was so light and airy. SIDERE by Hilary Smith Callis. Another great episode. Every time I watch I add another sweater to my favorites.
Lovely as always 🥰 Laura I use my phone like it’s my brain… your languishing wips maybe put them into your phone in the calendar with an alert to go off in a months time so that reminds you, if you’re not ready to think about it again just move the date forward. With things I need to do, but I don’t want to do, I set an alert on my day and also the day before. When it goes off the day before it gives me a warning but in 24 hours I need to pull my finger out 🤭😂 I like to be organised, especially with the “ugh” things in life. I also though colour block the bottom of your yarn chicken loss sweater. Thanks for sharing, happy knitting 💕
