We will also go over different types of knitting needles, different materials and different sizes of needles. This video is the first in a series on Knitting Basics which will provide all the information needed to get started knitting!

Wonderful advise! It takes me a while to get certain yarns and needles i want. I started out at the big box stores and that yarn is just fine. Then my husband took me to a fiber festival... he is still regretting that😏So my knitting is slow going and still learning. I just love it though.

Just getting started. Going to Wally to see what they have. Hope I can knit! I've crocheted for awhile. Already know I am a tight stitch person. Wish you would have said something about how to hold the yarn

I have crocheted for about four years now. I have avoided learning to knit because I had a horrible time with it as a young child. But now I want to learn and I really want to make socks. I think I'd chose to start with a circular needle, but what length should I look for in the cord for socks?

Hi! Any of them will work so the best is whatever you have! If you are buying and have the choice I would choose them in this order: 1. metal 2. bamboo 3: plastic

What pattern should a beginner start with?

A great first practice piece is something flat like a dishcloth. A scarf is very simple but repetitive so would be easy but takes a bit longer. Once you are comfortable with knitting and purling you can start adding skills like knitting in the round and decrease stitches for a hat. Pick something you really want to make in a yarn you like and just keep at it. A lot of knitting is just practice and patience- if you are willing to look up how to do stitches you don’t know you can figure out most patterns!

The reason I want to knit is because I’m very creative and get bored a lot I have to have something I’m doing I can’t listen to music I need to be doing something and knitting would be good cause I could make scarfs and be entertained so I could have gifts instead of making it out of paper and cardboard
