I really miss knitting and crocheting in bed. My M.E. & Fibro has gradually deteriorated to the “severe” category over the past 3 years and now I can no longer knit or crochet even with arthritis gloves/physio tape etc. and spend my days in bed with the tv or RU-vid on low so this has been a nice gentle watch for me that isn’t full of loud music, flashing lights/graphics. Thank you

This video is such a disabled mood and I am HERE for it. The realities of merely existing as a disabled person can be so difficult, and it compounds when you have to work and/or be camera ready. I had such a bad pain/fatigue/extremity weakness day yesterday and this video was such a lift. I hope we both feel better soon.

Keep your spirits up. Like I posted before, their is an upside to being disabled was it could be worse; I was in the ER the other night where 2 of the other patients were in unbearable pain as they are dying. The worse symptom I have is pain when I try to walk and fatigue. I need a pot of coffee to energize me enough to stay awake so I can knit/ crochet

I LOVE 2 at a time knitting. It's the only way I can knit pairs of things. A few years ago I knitted 2 pairs of knee high socks like it, 4 socks on 1 cable needle, it felt like it took forever, but I had 2 pairs of socks once I'd done.

Pro tip: fan/portable heater is a good helper even in a landlocked unsoggy country, if you happen to live in an 18th century house that's never not slightly damp. :D (Not the case for me anymore, but family still lives in that house so still a good thing to remember!)

Your gloves are beautiful! I've seen that pattern and you did such a lovely job. When your health is unstable, things get wonky, and there's nothing wrong with that. I was inspired by your original stash-busting video and, once it got cool enough in my corner of the world, photographed and cataloged all of my yarn. I have even more than you and it's disconcerting. Then I caught COVID (for the second time, despite vaccines and boosters.) This did give me the time to finish a granny square blanket I'd started in 2016 and although I hated crocheting all the squares together, I love the finished blanket. It's large enough for one person and a 80/20 acrylic/wool, so it's machine washable, soft, and cozy. I finished another blanket, hated it, and ripped the whole thing out. There's something up with the increases in that pattern: they just don't lie flat. Third, I made a modified pair of Triangulation Mitts by Sybil R - she has a ton of mitt, glove, and mitten patterns that are constructed in very interesting ways. I'm now working on a pair of Starburst Mitts, also from Sybil R. I messed up a few times and am on my third go. This was my fault, not the pattern's. I have a chronic illness and chronic fatigue, on top of post-COVID lethargy. I'm supposed to be designing a hat, but my brain just won't do it, so it's on hold until I have the brainpower for it. Same goes for finishing a mostly-completed capelet I designed. I see you. I see you.

When I have just small bits and little balls of leftover yarn, I usually turn them into fingerless gloves. They're so fast to make, and I just cobble together whatever I've got. I wear my nicer gloves out, but my weird little fingerless gloves I wear at home, more like a wrist-warmer than gloves, because I don't like the chilly gap in my sleeves at my wrist during the cold months. It's toasty, and I like that I can use every scrap.

I don't really knit, I can but prefer crochet. There's something very satisfying about watching all the tiny loops turn into something soft & warm. It's my way of giving hugs & comfort to those I care about when I am not with them. Now & then I do make something for myself! I'm glad you felt better by the end. I have advanced Rheumatoid & just got through an awful 2 week flare as well. It took me a whole week to finish just 4 hours worth of needle felting. I just never know from day to day or even from morning to night what is going to happen next, so I just try to go with it & do what I can. It's my hobbies that get me through the toughest times. Hi Claude - just found you ❤️ I've had ME over 24 years & for the first 3 years I could not knit. I did mainly tapestries & a lot of sleeping. Even now I find it hard to follow patterns sometimes so have had to organise my knitting accordingly. This results in many WIP that need blocking & sewing up. To help me keep track I've recently started to keep a record of WIP, kits to knit & yarn in my stash generally. Having watched your stash organisation video, I think you would probably faint if you saw my stash..... I have destashed twice in the past, but I'm a hoarder 😄 Over the years, I've also been diagnosed with EDS & several other things. I've fractured my left elbow, wrist & hand in 3 separate accidents, which is why I like try & knit daily.

I am currently in my last year of a master's program, when we go on break between semesters, I need to organize my giant bin of yarn so I have a better idea of what I have! I don't really like Ravelry's yarn system, I am missing the labels for a lot of yarns. I'm thinking of creating a yarn database in Excel for my stash! I created a book database already, how hard could a yarn database be! I wish you well, hoping you can enjoy relaxing time and knitting time too :)

I had no idea Ravelry has that function???? I mean automatically deducting the amount you used on a project from your yarn stash. that's so useful! I always have trouble estimating if I have enough of 1 yarn to work on a project. the way you're tracking the yarns is such a great solution! I'll just need to get a weighing scale. that's gonna be tough for the smaller accessories projects I like to do though, I crochet small lace items...hm, still would be helpful for the garments, which is usually where I struggle estimating if I have enough left of a yarn. thank you for sharing this! I think I'll start my own stash busting once I get a scale.

It may not seem like it, but you did put a bit of a dent in your stash. And those gloves are lovely. They remind me that I have a few odd bits of yarn left from knitting socks and I was thinking of making myself a new pair of mitts. They're actually a combination of gloves and mittens that have a flap over the fingers to add warmth. I had a pair I made several years ago with fingerless gloves, but then I lost one of them. I haven't started yet because I need to remember where I put the book with the pattern. I have a work area in our flat that I'm still trying to get into some place where I can actually work. Still unpacking boxes from our last move about 4 years ago and looking for places to put it all. It's a tedious job.

I'm a new knitter though so maybe my calibrations are different. I just finished my second knit project (first was a washcloth) - it's a scarf and it took me 9 months. Knitting is still like magic to me so I'm enjoying watching you make really neat things with your hands and magic sticks. :D And wow those gloves are *gorgeous*. I'm not a glove person and I'm even tempted now. And I love the autumn colors of the chevron jumper. The remainders reminded me of a crochet a-long I did - we made small lacy squares (which we put together in rows) using small amounts. The original skeins were often 20 grams. I hope you find something you enjoy for the rest of that yarn. Love love love those colors. Also, those cats on your socks! 😍

Well done! The final photoshoot reminds me of the Taylor Swift All Too Well video a bit with the lipstick and the autumnal colours. I love this series, can't wait to see what October brings :)

I am having an incredibly low level energy day today and this was really comforting to watch. Maybe I should abandon my sewing for today and just lie in bed watching videos and knit squares for my stash busting blanket.

Having leftover bits of yarn from projects is vital for mending and repairs. I was inspired by your 1940s Make Do and Mend socks, so I took the time to mend holes in a pair of socks I knit for my mom in 2020. I was very economical, so I even have enough to mend a hole in my own pair from the same yarn! In October, I was only able to knit one hat (as opposed to my mom's 9 hats), but I'm still very pleased with the result. Sometimes it's about the quality of knitwear and not the quantity 🙂

I just saw your video in my feed. I have chronic illness too ( dysautonomia and EDS) and a cold this weekend and its a rough time. It feels good to see people like me on the internet ❤. I'm gonna subcribe.

Continued from below. I also need a big kitchen on the bottom floor with several coffee makers and lots of counter space to hold my coffee making equipment. I always keep 4 or 5 kinds of coffee handy like Hazelnut, Southern Pecan, mudslide, German Chocolate Cake and regular to drink. I have a bad coffee drinking habit. I go thru 3 pounds of coffee a month and save all the containers when they are empty to hold my crochet and knitting hooks and needles. I don't fear death: I only dread one thing, I really need a craft store in thr afterlife so I don't miss any weekly yarn sales. I am overjoyed when I can load up.on $4.99 a skein yarn gets discounted down to $1.29!

In terms of dividing yarns in two, you might like to use a meterage counter - this way you’ll know how many meters your yarn has exactly and, instead of counting on weight, you’ll be more precise in your division ☺️

I actually really love the 70s colors of the 40s-inspired jumper. I lived through the 70s, and I have a genuine fondness for the style of the decade. I also really love 40s style, though I did not live through that decade. So it's the best of both worlds for me.

Hope you’re on the mend sweet lady. ❤ I haven’t got a lot of knitting done myself in the last month or so… had some illness in our household, husband had gallbladder surgery, my FIL passed, found out my MIL is going to have MAJOR surgery in November… dryer 💩 out, holidays breathing down our neck, work is nuts at the moment… just one thing after another. Thank you for reminding me that it’s times like these that knitting could be of the most benefit 🥲🧶

I love all of your videos, they're so relaxing and authentic. We're all so grateful for you putting the energy into doing them for us all. I must admit I had my eye on the mohair (?) jumper and shrug you were wearing! It looks simple enough for me to do & cosy and light. Is it a pattern of yours? I do hope you're continuing to feel better 🙌🙌
