Welcome to the THREAD TO MEND knitting and spinning podcast! In today’s video, I chat about what I’ve been knitting while on a brief visit to see my dad in Florida. I also created a blank budget template to share with you all… this is the same one I use each month to focus on saving money as I live within my means and stick to a budget. Per usual, we have an extended garden tour. Also, I decided to polish and clean my inventory of clogs and shoes.

⚕I watched til the end. I am a nurse! I am a nurse practitioner now, but I do miss bedside nursing. Today is yard work day for me. I have several trays of seedlings going. I love this time of year. Love your little urban garden. I am so sorry to hear about your dad.

What a blessing nurses are💜 - sorry that your father is in the midst of the challenges of illness. Watching someone suffer is so trying especially as there is little one can do aside from trying to provide some emotional support. I consider knitting mental therapy as well as being a creative outlet that is practical to top it off. Be well.

I made it to the end! So very sorry about your dad. It’s hard being far away, as well. I’m glad you’re finding some solace in your lovely garden and knitting. Everything looks so lovely! I’m now inspired to tend to my shoes as well! Good for you. And you look so beautiful, by the way! Take care of yourself especially at this time. I’ve found it’s too easy to head for the dark side and forget the light! 👩🏼‍⚕️I only see dr emoji! 💖

The ornamental cherries are beautiful. I sold a house where I planted several varieties. But never got to see them flower. Your prep of wool staples is as methodical as mine. But I have lost my mojo for spinning and not able to gain a consistent fibre. Its stressful when parents live a plane flight away. Hope your Dad improves and is able to return home with nursing home care visits. As a retired nurse, advice - push for as much home care support and meals on wheels for your Dad. Take a photo of the UFOs growing. Load up to Google Lens for ID. Only grow Boysenberries in a pot as like blackberries they send runner underground and infest the garden bed. Same with mint and horse radish.

Your garden is so ahead of mine! I just have a few buds and worried still about a frost. And your garden is not a mess at all! So sorry to hear about your Dad, it is a tough thing to go through. Just give him your time, it probably means lots to him and will to you later. Big hugs.

Ooo your hair and makeup is giving geisha vibes. I'm really sorry about your Dad's decline. It's so hard to see your folks go thru things. I'm in a similar situation with my Mom. It's why I try to be active as much as my conditions will allow. ❤ And knitting really is a great distraction 😊 I'll check out Dr Romani.. Your garden is spectacular ❤ I love when you share it! And your pup bouncing out into it was a delight 😊

I’m not sure if I heard more than necessary,but yes Doctor Ramini was a good resource for me to pass onto my siblings. I too am a daughter of a narcissist (mother). My husband, a family physician, tried to gently guide me into an understanding many years ago, but my siblings didn’t age that gift. My cancer diagnosis 8 years ago really brought out the worst , but has allowed us to open our eyes and have more of an understanding of, but oh boy he guilt that is self imposed is ridiculous. 🥴 Good for you for caring for yourself and yes crafting and nature are amazing therapy. Keep making healthy choices for yourself (that isn’t narcissistic 😊).

I use the Picture This plant identifier app to figure out what plant I’ve come across that I don’t recognize. This is a frequent occurrence in the woods. It isn’t free, but it works.

So Google has a camera lens that I use to identify unknown plants. Go to ‘old’ Google, not Chrome and on the right there’s a little camera lens. Tap center plant and tap. Have fun 😃

👩‍⚕️ bedside nurses rock. Keep finding ways to give yourself love thru your dad’s illness. Enjoyed your garden and clog tours. What clog brands do you recommend? I’m ready to move on from Sanitas since they can’t be re-soled.

Hi Taylor. I used the Google lens app on those leaves growing out of your compost and I'm pretty sure they are bell peppers. It would be interesting to see you transplant them maybe. I really enjoy your content. Thank you for sharing so much with us.

🧑‍⚕️This nurse is tiny, but maybe your young eyes can see the stethoscope around her neck. Sorry about your dad. The distance between you makes it harder too. I have a Vellichor swatch started. I've never knit a drop shoulder top, also haven't ever knit one of AM's patterns, so here goes. Not loving the boat neck tho. Might have to modify...😱 Also...I LOVE seeing your shoe repairs! I'm so impressed that you have a go to cobbler!
