All those knives and not one there that probably cost over 100 bucks let alone 2 or 300,big difference from a lot of other "survival guys" on youtube thats for sure.
I was born in 1956 and can remember carrying a pocket knife in high school to sharpen pencils etc, bearing in mind I would have been about 11 yrs old at the time, many kids did the same and we never had the mindset to commit any crime or vandalism with our pocket knives, when I mention that to some of the WOKE SNOWFLAKES I work with they almost faint with dread, and very nearly have to seek therapy at the thought of a boy having a knife.
My friends and I all carried pocket knives. Nowadays a kid would be suspended from school for carrying a pocket knife, but in those days it didn't even cause a raised eyebrow. In the summer we roamed all over town and in the hills with our BB guns and air rifles.
That was fun to see, and I suspect a great deal of scandinavian knowlegde has shaped this man. I'm 49years old, from Norway, and I still have the urge to throw knifes ☺ I really liked this video

When my parents bought our camp or cottage whatever you wanna call it ,the book that was on the table in the video was left at the camp by the previous owners , i red that book ten times that summer studying the pictures with a magnifying glass, everything i know about bushcraft is because of that book 🥰 good times
Again I have to Thank You Mr. K. Because of you, I have a Skookum Bush Tool, it has a M K which I always thought it stood for Mors Kochanski but mine is made in the 3V. Rod asked me how I was going to use it, so I said mostly working wood, so he made me a curved blade slightly but not by much a 4" blade, and I love it, the very tip has a micro tanto tip and it's pretty strong and I never snapped that tip off like my friends tgat has a sharper pointy tio, I love my Skookum Bush Tool and again Thanx.

Nice ones. I have some of those. I like the big two blade folder. We call them folding hunters. A leather sheath kept them from eating pockets. Where I grew up the Barlow was your first knife. $.50 back then. I have the Mark 2 military knife. I was never allowed to throw a knife so I didn't break them. Surprised there isn't a Buck 110 in that collection.
I recently bought one of those big two bladed Schrade Walden knives at a flea market for $35.00. Good old knife made with good old steel. I also have an old Western brand like it. Bought it new when I was 24 years old. I've had it 40 years. Its even better than the Schrade.
mors that kabar marine knife has been all over the world with me I have since retired that knife but my friend the Sykes is a great knife to and I also carry that schrade type in have a colonial and 3 moras not to mention others that I use its good to see a woods man who knows blades by use as you do ATB my friend always a pleasure ...tom

I was really sentimental about the first knife you showed in this video (the one with black scales), it looks very much like my first knife I got from my father in the 1970's! He had a lot of Moras (as we live in Sweden you could expect that!) but when I was to choose my first one I also as you said many young ones did, choose the one with black plastic scales! What was the brand on that one you had? Mine was stolen many years ago together with my other knives from that period so I don't remember the brand! Take care, Joachim
I also have a Mora with a wooden handle a gaurd and a metal pommel the sheath also has a metal trim, mine is in very good condition there's a big "A" and a crown, I ' have to look. But it sounds similar to the knife you had as a kid. I think mine was a Army knife. I recall reading something to tgat affect, but I can't find anything on it again.
opinel for me - even as a kid I could get the openil carbon blade razor sharp and I cant sharpen a knife even now . not sure what the stainless ones are like?

Man got good taste, this comes with years of using knives ive got nowhere near the knowledge this man would have, but early on you just like knives and buy all sorts, then you end up with a mix of good and average knives, now im at the stage where the perfect knives, are mora and marttiini knives, but of course an opinel aswell razor sharp,easy to sharpen, cheap except for marttiini but they are amazing, they are all you ever need, the rest is for fun 😁 and just sharpen with a strop, forget all the hype and just remember the simplicity of a knife, ❤
Who make the best steel ? I find the sharpest blades are the high carbon like in Opinel . The rust resistant surgical steel in swiss army Knives are not as sharp and are harder to sharpen . Do you think same ? I read the best steel for knives are made out of files that are homemade on a grinding wheel . They are very brittle and very hard to sharpen and they do rust fast .
Nice video Mors , I carry a Boker Magnum Camp Knife ( here is a video I made on it ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9AZP55JwnVQ.html ) now since retiring my U.S. Camillus military pocket knife that I carried for over 23 years. I find the tools and blade on a camp / boyscout style knife very useful. I also carry a Leatherman Multi tool on my belt , it's comes in very handy as well. And for times when I'm out and about and need a bigger knife I carry a KA-BAR 1213 Utility / Fighting Knife. I don't tend to lose pocket knives because I secure them on my person with the Clevis or Shackle ( aka a Bail ) to a metal key clip. As soon as I am done using my pocket knife I clip it right back on the key clip , I never set it down where it can be forgotten and lost. JT

Say Heah Mr. K. I recently was going to try out a set I made with mismatch knives. I had a Himalayan Imports M-43 Khukuri which I added a Bokor Magnum Series Vox Collection 2011 a beautiful retro style 6" blade in 440c. For my delicate work I added a Vintage Myerchin Pocket Knife it's very robust and very solid made since it was used probably on moving Sailboats on the ocean, it's a high grind saber Warrencliff blade, suprisingly a nice Mach with the other knives and all matched in color it's also a 440c. and has a Marlin Spike which I use to untangle knots and I use it to wood work especially on delicate work. I also have a Wilkinson Sword INOX Slipjoint Pocket Knife made in Sheffield, England a sort of a three blade canoe pattern a great pocket knife. I plan on taking this set out and see if it's a good set to survive or live in the bush. I alway's enjoy your vifeos. You do so much for our community. I like Bokor and I also have a Bokor Plus Vox Black Rold. and a 2 blade pocket hunting knife, Thanx for sharing your experience with us.
Videos like this make me want to sell all the obnoxious knives in my collection. Honestly I hate the fact that I have knives that I’m not willing to use because they’re “too nice” and I wouldn’t want to mess them up.
The final test of this survival training you must pass is bringing the knife you borrowed back to the point of being sharp enough to feather with ease.
+outty77 I have seen them break. Being cheap enough to replace doesn't help you at the time you're sitting there with a broken knife. A full tang Mora would be a fine thing!
What I got from this - in his world of growing up, the Randall knives were not around and for survival knives the cheaper units were fine. If you monetized the "Mors" knife and sold it for 6 or 8 hundred dollars, that would be a lie. Mors never used a high end knife. Do you need a filet knife that costs $600. dollars, did he kill bear with any of those knives? I think we've been led to believe if a knife doesn't cost at least several hundred dollars, how can it be any good? For cooking, cleaning game and surviving, a cheap Orzark Trails knife from Walmart will do fine. If you want to spend $4000. USD on something that a custom maker had 90 hours in to, well go for it, but just realize that it wasn't Mors approved.

Some Special Forces were issued the #1 and #3 Randall, but most were private purchases. They are large 'fighting' knives more than ones to be used in fieldcraft. They are dam near unbreakable and they take and hold an edge like nothing else. I lucked into my #1 cheaply and if left with only one possession that would be it. I'd like one of their smaller models but I can't afford anything like that these days. The early KaBars were said to be stronger where the tang met the blade by many WW2 vets I've known but I can't confirm that nor do I know how to tell one from another. The steel in those I've handled was soft and wouldn't hold an edge; supposedly done in order to increase wartime production. The company is still around up in Olean NY and they manufacture the Cutco brand of kitchen knives which are superb with a price to match.
You sir can make a cheap China made knife do all the things you need done It’s all about the experience you have and how you handle your knife It doesn’t matter if it’s a $2 or $2000 knife it’s in the wrong hands it’s not gonna do any good
Its interesting to me that Mors and his students could accomplish all their bushcraft tasks with inexpensive slip-joint pocketknives and simple Mora fixed blades. Nowadays there is such an emphasis on "The Survival Knife" as the go-to blade. I won a drawing for such a knife, very expensive, and it is very high quality, but it is equally very huge and so I cannot manipulate it for performing simple tasks. I pretty much relegate it to the role of chopping and splitting wood. I won't name the manufacturer because I appreciate the prize and don't wish to offend or sound unappreciative, but clearly, smaller knives can "DO" A great video, and I love the cat "photo bombing" the video!
Watch and learn this all you hipsters fighting over knife steel etc. None of those fancy expensive knives, simple stuff and that is coming from a person who TRULY put those knives through their paces. Don't let all that BS marketing fool you guys, a knife is a knife more or less.
