the knot is the best if you do it and apply it properly…and The Old Fox surely knows what he is talking about. We all owe a great deal to Mr Mors for is huge and serious contribution for joy and safety in tje wilderness: he is undoubtely the best. When looking for some issue, I allways try to find if Mors Korchansky has some video on it; if not (?) I try elsewhere…but take other opinions with some reserve. With Mors it is allways solid, reliable stuff you can depend on.Thank-you Grand Papa Mors!

Not to be rude, but it kinda looks like either Mors didn't want to change his movements to allow the camera to see, or the editor didn't want to show the knot being tied clearly. This could have been made incredibly clear, but it was made incredibly confusing, and it's quite simple knotwork.

Wish you guys would redo this vid with an actual jam knot in the illustrations.

Well, nice knot , but no one on this side of the lens can actually see how it was done. The woodsey scenery competes with the details you would like to show your audience.

Nice how Mors shows the knot, but the illustrations show another not. That doesn',t help a lot. Why is that ?

Stoney Lonsome there are several video,s on RU-vid : for example Canadian Jam Knot by fs2 Training. After I saw that it was easy to make the knot myself. Yes, a timber hitch, to start a lashing. Another way to go if you don,t have such a strong cord as 550 cord and you need more turns of rope to get the same strength.

1:22 No, Mors. You are, as always, correct. Encyclopedically so!

I was taught the 'jam knot' as a child and have used it all my life (I'm 50) it and the common hitch are all you really need to get by. Thanks for showing a really important use for this 'wonder' knot great video

This is a bit useless other than for simple cross lashing. How would you do this for a stretcher, A-frame or a corner with three sticks? You can't form the "magic" X on all corners then squire all the lashings before tying the other way across. Lot of what he says is good but there is a lot that is non-sense like a black pot requires half the fuel of a non black pot or that neck knife being more convenient - you have to use both hands to remove the knife while its a one hand job if it was o your belt. His preference for tall coffee pots for cooking only works well if you hang the pot from ther bale. Otherwise it is a poor way to transfer heat to the pot and makes it less stable than a wider pot.

That's nothing more than the old Arbor Knot......used for tying fishing line to the arbor of the reel. Why the new name?

The arbor knot you mention is NOT the same as the Canadian jam knot... people have misnamed it the arbor knot because they don't understand it.
