As a bloke who’s job involves using a sledgehammer I know which of the two hammers I’d rather be using and it’s NOT the sledge hammer. Respect is due to anyone who’s job involves swinging a sledgehammer everyday.

@@lejijancy you know - as a nation, you can advance in technology and still appreciate handmade items and traditional crafts... In the west there is a growing regret that we let all the traditional crafts die out and dissapear as we pushed for modernity
I have heard that in some cultures you are expected to bargain. If that is the case then you would be insulting their work by not bargaining. Doesn’t mean you have to bargain long or hard.

Well, typically the person with the bigger hammer is the apprentice who does the bulk work while the one with the smaller hammer is the one with higher skill and experience. They direct the project. Though typically the master would direct the apprentice with a hit on the spot he wants hit and they would go back and and forth a sort of “bang BANG bang BANG bang BANG” this way a lot of precise work can be done with less heating and quicker. It doesn’t really have much to do with equality, just smart workflow.

To improve the quality of your work, for quenching methods use bar soap of clothes. Put the soap wipe of the edges of the knife back to back horizontally put it back again in the fire for about 5 seconds then submerge the edges into the water gradually then the white line appear the edges, this is a good result of quenching methods. The purpose is when you use the knife at work it will prolong the sharp of the edges for a longer period of time.
