If Russia wants to end the war, then all they have to do is to leave Ukraine. If it wants to put an end to the dying, then leave. It's that simple. But as long as Putin's hordes keep killing people, then the Ukrainians will resist in self defense, as they have every right to do.

The main reason that Russia doesn’t like NATO is because of Yugoslavia in the late 90’s. Russian-backed Serbs were committing full-scale genocide against Albanians, and NATO stepped in to stop the atrocities. Russia’s “feelings” were hurt as a result.
Nato is a DEFENSIVE ORGANISATION, THE CHARTER SAYS THAT, if russia attack their member they will bite back, but they won't start or initiate any war, that is why it is so attractive to many free nations

The longer the war goes on, the heavier the weapon systems will be delivered. We went from "what do we do" to send some MANPADS, to send tanks and heavy artillery, to US pres authorized to send UKR from a huge laundry list via Lend/Lease in 3 months. As NATO takes possession of F35s, where do you think all the F16s and F18s are going to end up? UKR will become a NATO compatible country simply by the weapons systems and training they are receiving. Putin has singlehandedly reinvigorated NATO, caused neutral/nonaligned countries to apply for membership, and revealed the kind and quality of military that sits to the East of NATO.
There is nearly no Russian troops between the current NATO border and St. Petersburg, as they have been moved to fertilize Ukrainian ground. That should give an answer, if Russia actually feels threatened.
NATO is NOT a threat to anyone that RESPECTS it's neighbor. This is the 3rd war Russia has started. Aggression at it's finest. It's why NATO was formed. NATO defends, it doesn't attack. Finland and Sweden are smart to join. They could be next on Putin's list.

Back in the 1990s, whenever I suggested to Germans and other Central Europeans (Czechs, Poles and Hungarians) that EU expansion should include Russia, their reaction was negative to say the least. For this reason, I don't think Russians are solely to blame for their 'isolation' or 'marginalization' in Europe. In a sense, post-Soviet Russia has been denied a roadmap to true integration in Europe. And for that we, as Europeans, are all to blame. This is not to condone Russia's current actions in Ukraine, but there will never be a lasting solution until what is now the EU learns to live (co-exist) with Russia for mutual benefit. I see too many zero-summers in the DW studios and in general in the Western media and among the political elite in Brussels.
Putin reached out several times, even advertised for good cooperation in German language in German parliament. The problem is not Russia, it's the Western arrogance and supremacism! And I say it as a German... I see the general people's mentality and I exactly know this is it! Few even know what real justice and equality means, all are egoistic in the West.
that is because in America if there is no enemy to wary about , then the arms dealers and manufactures will go out of business, next on the list to scare people with is china. what a shame that this world is driven by the greed of bad people.
Nonsense! There was trade with Russia, there was cultural exchange, there was a lot of tourism from and to Russia. In spite of US warnings, the EU even became energy dependent on Russia. And Russia became rich because of this. But instead of using this wealth for its people, it disappeared in the pockets of Putin's friends. Disengaged from reality the Russian top has, fully voluntary, decided to start a war and put Russia in isolation. And the Russian people will suffer once more, seems they never learn!
Very true! I noticed many older Germans , from age 55 or 60 do not speak English and listen only to German news. That is definitely not enough . This interview should be interpreted also in German and must be shown on Germany’s public TV! This panel SHOULD go on Germany‘s public TV .
The UK trained the Ukranian army from 2014 and we armed them from the beginning out of conviction. Germany waited to see how the wind was blowing first. Poor indeed.
I dunno, I’d say having a prejudice against murderers is pretty warranted. If Russia wants a different international reputation, it needs to change its behavior. Because all its doing now is confirming everyone’s worst fears.
Everyone I've heard from the Russian simply parrots the same words as they hear on the news, from the random person on the street to the officials of the government. Word for word, all the same. You hear it once, you just hear the exact same, over and over. And what they are saying is BS.
Absolutely agree with the three panellists, Russia must be decisively and rapidly beaten in Ukraine, not only for the sake of the Ukrainian people but to emphasise and reinforce NATO's military deterrence of Russian aggression. This position is almost universal among people I talk to here in London, UK. Despite Brexit, the feeling here is that if Europe can act effectively together on security we are all much safer than if we each acted independently. I think this is probably now a commonplace amongst all Europeans. The idea of "The West" and what that stands for has become, to some extent, more important to us than the idea of the nation state.
