That's exactly the problem! How do you know that the one seeking help from you is a robber or murderer? How about preferring to consider the possibility that the person truly needs help rather than imagining that he is out to kill or murder you. Besides, aren't there murders and robberies committed anyhow every day by people who are not asking for accommodation at the homes of people who don't know them? Imagined consequences or not, it is always better to suffer for doing good than to suffer for doing evil. Moreover, there are a million other ways to help a complete stranger in need if you feel uncomfortable taking him in, but turning him away unassisted isn't one of them.

The guy did not want to leave. The husband got some guys neighbor and dragged the guy out of their home. My co-worker said, never again this mistake. Be careful, don't let people to stay even for 1 minute, shower, staying in the porch, garage, etc. It will be a nightmare. There is kind of squaters. Be careful with babysitter, roommates, friends visiting you asking to stay for few days, ex boyfriend, ex husband. Be careful. I would not even open my door, it's dangerous. Those shelters are on taxpayers. It's million dollars for shelters. Send them to shelters. I would not even open my door. These people they know the shelters. Roommates, be careful, if you see an ad, make sure you pay the rent to the landlord not to the roommate that put the ad, because maybe the roommate is not paying the rent already, and the new roommate will pay the rent and give to the scammed roommate and will disappear with your money instead of giving to the landlord. Don't ever pay the roommate, pay directly to the landlord. I am very generous, but I stopped, it's a trust issue, I have been so nice extra nice so many times, and always victimized by ingrates, users, leeches, entitled. So I am not nice anymore. I keep neutral. People choose to take drugs, don't want to work, don't want rules, discipline, it's your problem, no mine. And here in Mexico where I live last year I helped a 23 year old young man who needed a place to live, and advertised that he was looking for a place to camp out. I reached out to him and allowed him to set up camp. But when I noticed that his tent didn't have Pole's I told him he could stay in my little rental that had recently been damaged by a hurricane. For very little money like 175 a month, which basically covered electricity, water and garbage. He's a talented musician and played at several restaurants around ere for tips It's a one bedroom, one bathroom house-but I didn't have hot water because the hot water heater died . SoI really couldn't rent it out. But he didn't care, we gave him a little electrical element to stick in a bucket and heat water up that way. That's what we use because I can't afford a water heater for me. Eventually he left and I was able to buy a real water heater and get it installed and it's now rented to an elderly old man or like $375a month.Im still without Hot water. People need to reach out make an effort to help each other. I've been doing this all my life. And if you are reading this and want to help me help others let me know. I want to build a couple more little Casitas, that's what we call them here in Mexico and rent it out for very small amount of money $375 a month -a doable amount for a lot of low-income people. It includes water and free internet. And quite frequently dinner. Lol. Very good Mexican homemade food. I built the Casita and my house by myself. 75% I'd say. But I recently fell and severely hurt my left leg and hip and need surgery. So no more Casitas for a while. I have a large piece of property. Any How I've always helped people. I owned a big 4 bedroom 3 bathroom house also and helped two single moms. I also helped a family of 8 who were Mexican farm workers and had been run off of the ranch where they had lived for 20 years! My house had a basement also. It was the cleanest it had ever been. Anyhow I don't know if I approve of what you are doing. You have put people in the spot. But Yes we all need to step up and help. Even poor people can help. I live on 1126$ a month and help my neighbors. I still don't have wiring in my house or doors or windows in the kitchen. Just screen.

This is why rich people are rich. Anyone of them could have offered him a drink, a sandwich, a lift to a shelter, 20 bucks, booked an uber or at the very least showed some empathy and just engaged him about his circumstances like a caring or concerned fellow human.. only one did. Have you seen the blink videos where the creepers knock and have another person hidden around the corner, when the person answers the door, they bust in and rob them? It's not a friendly world anymore 😫. Or when you let someone stay with you out of the kindness of your heart, they don't leave, EVER! They wreck your house, eat your food, steal from you, and there is a process of eviction you have to go through! Oh, and in Oregon, you have to pay $4000. Hardship fee on top of it, even though you might have only let someone stay a night or two. They can mess with you and drag out the whole thing causing you a nightmare. So as much as I would love to help someone in need, the risk of being screwed with is so high that I would have to say no. I've been there. I did it once with a woman from church, and she tried to steal my husband. Disgusting. Of course, my husband was not a good man, so there is that.

He had such a bright future ahead of him and almost didn't get to make it while the guy who shot him faced no repurcussians. No jail, nothing. This video here is proof of white privilege too. Americans, by and large, USED to be like that. Not anymore. Unfortunately, it's turned into a mostly toxic, selfish, and low trust society over the past 20+ years. People these days are generally cold, unhelpful and distrustful of one another. For a multitude of reasons, we are now more divided than ever. I'm a bit older than most of the people posting here, so I've noticed the change in people over the past couple of decades. That being said, he's also doing this prank in a city called Scottsdale, which has some of the most pretentious, vain, and superficial people in the country. So, the mostly uncompassionate and unhelpful responses he received from the people there does not surprise me.

Oh, random and unrelated, but was a big WTF for me, her very close elderly friend got her house broken into and they stole some jewellery and stuff. She refused to report it to the police because she knew the thief would see their error and it would be returned. And you'll never f***ing believe what happened!! Yeah because those countries are incredibly poor and their is no support from the government. In western countries you get something called social welfare payments, soup kitchens, homeless shelters, all of which provide free food or enough money to live a very good life. Nobody in western countries has to actually be homeless or be hungry. 99.9% of homeless people you see in western countries, chose to be homeless, even though they could sleep in a bed in a warm room, they prefer to be on the street. In my country, Germany, every citizen that doesn’t have a job, gets 600$ in cash + gets paid his rent, insurances, and thousand other things indefinitely - EVEN THE „Homeless“ get the same thing. People who are homeless in western countries are usually homeless because they have problems with their behavior, they get kicked out of their apartments, because they make problems or they don’t pay Rent, because they use their money for drugs. They are not homeless because they don’t have enough money. So if you see a guy in front of your door like that, in a western country, you know he is alright, he has food, he has a place to sleep. So why should you provide him something of which you know, he already has plenty of? And yes, I know it’s different in third World countries... you have no Job, you lose your apartment -> you have nothing. I know. But this video is shot in the US, not in Somalia or India.

Matthew 5:. 40 And if anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, hand over your coat as well. 41 If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles. 42 Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you. 43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ Many of these so called humans could care less. So very very sad. Give to those who ask and the Lord will repay 7 times or until you have to give more. They were given the test and failed miserably. At least most of these wretched souls

I took an "ese" homie that was battling addiction in the streets here in SLC. Didn't know him or nothing about him, I was 15 years old and brought him to my house . fed him, let him meet my fam and never disrespected.. That became one of my best friends. I Got him clean for a bit, he was working and one day he never came back. Went right back to the streets. Last time I seen him he was doing well.. Haven't heard from him for 4 years but I know he is doing well now

We do that in Muslim countries, especially in the North Caucasus and Turkey. Recently in cities this is forgotten but if you go to any village or rural area and ask this, they will either let you in or give you food, clothing and somewhere to stay.

I would never let anyone I didn’t know into my house. I have the safety of my young kids and a wife to consider. Who knows what any random person off of the street is capable of? I would make them a solid lunch while they waited outside. And if funds allow it, I would even get them room at a local motel for a night. But times have changed and people do some crazy sh$t. I’m all about helping the next man but safety first

Here's what I would've done: offered to give them water, or something to eat, ask a few questions about what happened, and I'm usually a good judge after that, so I'd let them in for a while ( I'd still be on guard the whole time) and then, call around to see if there are any safe shelters, or just call the police to get some help for a while. If all that fails, I'd honestly just let them live with me for a while, until I figure something out. I still wouldn't just trust them, or leave them alone with any of my belongings.
