Knockoff Cinderella Review 

i hate to be that person, but in the original story theres a reason why noone has ciderellas shoe size. It's established that she has abnormally small feet which is how the idea of searching for her with the shoe even comes to mind. It seems like every adaption of the story just ignored that detail even though it's literally the key part of the whole plot.

This was the first Cinderella (Japanese ver.)I watched growing up, and I remember watching the Disney version years later and thought “Didn’t Cinderella have a secret brick compartment in their basement” then I found out last year that I was watching the Goodtime’s version. My parents bought loads of goodtime Vhs tapes thinking it was disney. They didn’t know the difference. So yea, that’s my childhood -also I still remember the lyrics to their song. It’s a good song lol-

The stepmother’s earrings remind me of the Sims

I had the knock off little mermaid and cinderella and i actually kinda enjoyed them. The cinderella songs are quite catchy.

Oh shoot, I watched this version as a kid along with Disney's Cinderella. My parents, who didn't know English at the time and still don't, thought it would be good idea to buy it for me since I was obsessed with Cinderella. Honestly the Spanish dub of Good Times Cinderella is better.

I feel like at some point someone would have sued Goodtimes just for the false advertising of their name.

K this was driving me crazy and I had to stop the video a minute in to solve a childhood mystery. For some reason, I immediately recognized and knew literally every single word to that "Dream on Cinderella" song and I've never seen this Good Times Cinderella film! So naturally, I was a bit confused! But after some digging on Google, I found out that I had an audio cassette with this song and other kids songs on it that I used to listen to often during long car rides. It was called "OLD McDONALD'S FAVORITES" and the songs included were: Old McDonald's Farm / Here We Go Round The Mulberry Bush / We're A Team / Dream On Cinderella / Simon Says / Home On The Range / Start With A Smile / Polly Wally Doodle / Picinic Song / Kookaburra / Poison Ivy / Who Stole The Cookie From The Cookie Jar. MYSTERY SOLVED! Now back to the review :)

You should definitely give "The Secret of Mulan" a watch. 10/10

Awww, I happen to like this version. Personally, I don't think it's fair to say this Cinderella is a pure knockoff, since well, Disney's Cinderella isn't the original version either and was inspired by Perrault's version.

I lost it at "most attractive daughter, paired with this face."

I actually grew up on both (Disney & Goodtimes) and loved them both and I still do!!

My little sister used to watch this on DVD every night. However, she would fall asleep before the movie ended. So the DVD would go back to the title where they played that god awful song. Worst of all no one would be bothered to get out of bed to sort it. And now the words "dream on Cinderella" haunts my childhood. True story

I actually like this version more than the Disney one, at least the prince freaking recognizes her without the slipper in this one!

Judge me, I really liked this version of Cinderella as a kid! Obv I liked the disney version more but I found this one cute and enjoyable. I really liked the opening song , and that “where have you been song” & found the movie it comedic (probably not for the intended reasons) I hated everythig else by goodtimes though lol

Before watching comment: No matter what the verdict will be for this one I LOVED it when I was a kid! See I just found this one to be way more entertaining than the Disney version, and I could only watch it in the kids corner at the super market in town, which made me overjoyed whenever we went grocery shopping haha! I love to see you review The Last Unicorn or The Princess and the Goblin. They are not knock-off movies, but are rather really good hidden gems of movies. I loved them as a child.

Isn't it strange that Cinderella from Goodtimes looks almost excatly like her prince?

chad... i highly suggest that you review dingo pictures movies. they are the worst disney knockoffs i've seen and some of the lines are so bad they're funny. same goes for the animation.

When I saw the thumbnail, I was like "Is that the version my Nana had on VHS?" And as soon as the intro music started playing, "Yep, that's the one!" To be honest, though, the Disney one never really addressed how Cinder-ella got her nickname (do we even know it's a nickname in the Disney version?), whereas this version actually shows her sleeping by the fireplace... so that's something this version has going for it, despite being a low budget film.

This version has a special place on my heart because it was my favorite movie when me and my sister were little. Looking back on it, older, and with more experience in storytelling, I can see its flaws, but it has more strengths than you gave it credit for. I liked the duet between the prince and cinderella. I think it gives a sense of them actually caring that the Disney version lacks. I can admit that most of the reason I liked it when I was younger was the bright colors and details, but it has its merits. Dream on Cinderella is a good song, anyhow.

Dude when I was five I ended up getting the Cinderella DVD and the Little Mermaid one in a boxset with two Kelly dolls and I used to watch them ALL THE TIME. Do Sleeping Beauty next, please! (If I still had it I would send it to you.)

I actually really liked a lot of the Goodtimes movies, and to be honest, this Cinderella rendition is actually really decent in my opinion.

I appreciated the Single Ladies joke, but then again,, I appreciate any reference to that song.

I would love it if you review one of the Barbie movies. They're relatively trash, but have some great moments. I'd recommend Barbie Princess and the Pauper, the love story is okay and the music is pretty good, but it has just enough ridiculous moments that would be worthy of a video

Based on how the movie looked in the review.. I might actually like this movie ó.0 The songs to me were nice. The song about girls should dream isnt bad because they did add the part that her dad became wealthy from hard work. Plus, i like the artstyle. It's appealing.

As someone whose parents bought them the knockoff little mermaid, the only thing i liked about it as a kid was the opening number... i can assure you, i did not have a goodtime watching that film...

I actually have a lot of nostalgia for this movie! It came with a castle and Polly Pocket sized Cinderella and the prince. It was so fun to see it again, great video!

Honestly, this one seems pretty... inoffensive compared to the knockoff stuff. It's the exact same story, just with more mediocre animation, sound, and songs. Nothing really seemed to deviate much from the Disney movie. Kinda just a boring thing to review, I guess is what I'm saying (especially since the original story is also pretty trash). Although, it's hard to shake The Legend of the Titanic from my mind, so maybe I just have a high standard for knockoff stuff. THAT movie is a trainwreck knockoff if there ever was one. Just be prepared to be compared to Jontron if you review it, though.

Is it bad that I never watched the Disney Cinderella but was OBSESSED with the Goodtimes Cinderella as a child? I dunno how many times i rewatched the song with the prince and princess in it. This review filled my with memories of my childhood, and I’m glad that I got to experience it again!

about the slipper not changing back: in the original tale the slippers were a present from the godmother, and not part of the spell. but in almost NO reincarnation of cinderella has this ever been mentioned, not even in the disney movie.

You have to give it to Goodtimes though, they didn't stray as far from the original fairy-tale as Disney did with that weird animal subplot with the mice and Lucifer. Cinderella sleeps on a mat in front of the fireplace where ash and cinders blow over her, which is where her name Cinderella comes from in the original fairy tale, along with actually being dressed in rags. And the fact that the prince actually remembered what Cinderella's face looked like and recognized her, by her voice no less. While the Disney prince doesn't even bother to go to the shoe fittings, in spite of him declaring that he'll only marry the woman who can fit the slipper on her foot, he's not even the person who starts the hunt for Cinderella by way of glass slipper, his dad the King and the grand Duke is. Goodtimes prince has initiative and I like that in a prince charming. Disney prince charming just kind of sits around and laments having to get married, then meets Cinderella, declaring her the only woman he'd ever marry, then doesn't bother to go look for her. Boy has no drive when it comes to his relationship. Can't help but wonder if he and Cinderella would have gotten married at all if the King and grand Duke didn't interfere. Goodtimes prince charming also just strait up demands his parents stay out of his love life when they suggest having a ball, he's out right aggressive about it too.

I am only just realizing how many Goodtimes movies I watched and actually loved as a child

I grew up with GoodTimes movies. My mom bought me a five story CD of all the princess knockoffs and until a few years ago I thought those were the original stories. It had knockoffs of the little mermaid, Pocahontas, Cinderella, Snow White, and The Little Princess.

I had an ENTIRE COLLECTION of Goodtimes movies when I was younger

At least the animators in this made sure the stepmother didn't make us want to cry in a corner with her *shudder* _stare........._

This version actually does a lot of good things (despite the sometimes wonky animation). The fairy godmother is actually supportive and there for Cinderella more than once. It's not full of animal and human sidekicks that try to steal the show. Cinderella sleeps by the ashes (actual cinders). Cinderella bothers to actually think about her family and is shown to really miss them. The prince is shown to have some personality and reasons for not being interested in the women typically presented to him. Oh, and he actually recognises Cinderella, the shoe is just bonus confirmation.

You should check out Grimm's Fairy Tale Classics. I remember having Snow White on VHS as a kid and I remember liking their rendition so much more than Disney's.
