Just got back from a Kentucky trip. Bardstown Bourbon Co. was one of the highlights for us. Drinking whiskey right out of a barrel in a rickhouse - while maybe a given for you guys...;) - was a unique experience I'll treasure. The MGP of Kentucky...

This is a great video. Your research, interviews, and production quality were spectacular. Now the distillery has been sold to Pritzker Capital Partners and acquired Green River Distillers. I hope operations and management will stay the same and allow them to expand their delicious products. You'll need to do an update on this video in a couple of years to see if the quality of their bourbon continues.

You two do such a great job with your videos. This was top shelf, informative and fun. Bardstown Bourbon Company imo is MGP on steroids. They are industry innovators while being interactive and transparent with their customer. Much love for the respect they have for all bourbon brands they feature in their bar. I cannot wait until my 2nd trip there in October.

This was A LOT of work, and it’s evident and appreciated. By you guys being located in Central Ky, IBN can clearly separate from the other channels simply by creating informative content such as this… A couple more episodes like BBC, and all the other distilleries will be knocking your door down to feature their company. Just did their tour on Tuesday for the first time. Great time and we’re able to thieve from one of their barrels in the rickhouse. Picked up a bottle of their Discovery Series. They are coming out with 100% of their own bourbon in January.

I was literally at Bardstown Bourbon Company for the first time on July 1st. We picked up Matt's blend in the morning, and then did the 101 Whiskey Tasting tour and the Rickhouse Thieving Tour. I also tried that collab you had in the beginning in the square bottle and the latest collab with Plantation Rum. We sampled their soon to be released Origin series, which was very good and I'm excited for it to be released. We had it at barrel proof and they are going to be released at 100pf or close to that. Great distillery, but I was a pretty big fan even before I showed up.

The star at BBC was John Hargrove, former master distiller at 1792 who was on the BBC design team and responsible for much of their early success. Will be interesting to see how BBC does without John and I am looking forward to his new venture in Elizabethtown.

I think the idea of “sourced whiskey isn’t real whiskey” comes from non-transparent bottling. Companies not disclosing the sourced nature or even passing it off as their own spirit. Such as bulleit. People drink for a story, and when the story ends up being wrong, the experience comes crashing down.

I just don't like the idea of someone buying whiskey from somewhere else and then slapping their label on it. It's seems dishonest and there is the inevitable price markups you have to pay for something you can get probably cheaper from the original source. Also the "finish" process seems to circumvent the whole idea of what constitutes bourbon. Call it whiskey and I won't have a problem with it.

Great timing with this episode- the wife and I are traveling to Nashville then staying 2 nights in Bardstown on the way home. Was thinking this would be a great stop but you just confirmed that. Any other suggestions welcome. Too many distilleries, so little time…..

So here's why "Sourced Whiskey" is not true whiskey. True whiskey is a Mgaical water that was gifted to magical people via magic! So a Source means it needs to come from somewhere and whiskey is just a byproduct of...magic. Ya...that's it. 🤣 Love when you guys do videos like this. More please!

I had a slightly negative experience at Bardstown for the VERY brief amount of time I was there. To clarify this was one person behind the bar who answered a question I asked them with a bullshit answer that no self respecting bar tender should EVER do to a customer The question was what I ask many bar tenders at distilleries "Which one do you like?" and his answer was... the most expensive bottle they had... over $100 for one pour... WTF. To further flush this minor incident out, his shift ended minutes later and the other bartender didn't say anything that raised my eyebrow in a "you're full of shit" manner. Instead of his suggestion... I ordered a Bardstown Bourbon Co. Distillery collection pour for $25 (I couldn't help but think that I could buy an entire bottle of WT101 at that price back home, but screw it I was on vacation). I don't know much else about the bottle other than it had a light gray label and was 109 proof, very tasty and that alone did make me want to return again someday for full on bourbon tasting. The restaurant was absolutely PACKED and was extremely noisy for someone with my... sensory issues. As recommend by both of you if anyone is planing to dine there you plan well in advance, same goes for any tours or tastings. I was blazing through as many distilleries as possible during my trip so I was there for about 30min. My main issues with Bardstown bourbon are distribution and price tag.I simply don't see them on the self in my area, and even if I did there is the absurd amount of $$$ for each bottle. They are definitely doing great things for KY bourbon, but from my perspective they're simply catering to whiskey collectors with much larger wallets than mine. 🖖😎🥃

Sorry to hear Pritzker bought it. J.B. in our lousy governor. 24 billionaires in In Illinois, 4 are Pritzker's. If anyone can screw this distillery up it's them.
