Ok, for all you not knowing who were brought up on mythical fairy'tales by gods (supposedly) chosen? Māui was is fact the eldest son of Hawaiian island discoverer Sāvai'iloa (6500.BC.) A fishermen who originated from the north west coast of America, with ancient Kānaka tribal affiliations, their spoken language was Māoli pronounced Mā 'oli to whom most Polynesian dialects originate from. Their Lineage was of Inuit and Navajo bloodlines, but were also aligned to the ancient Te Kahukahu o te Hera, known today as Easter island or in French polynesian terminology Rapanui.

Sāvai'i gifted Hawaii's second largest island to his eldest son Māui which holds that name to this day, Sāmoa's Papali'i who discovered Samoa was born on the island of Māui some 3300 years ago. Tohunga Te Fioke Te Fīoke who was onboard the Makapālua Hokule'a that discovered Aokealoa (Universal islands) in 845.BC. was also born on the island Māui.
