Knowing The Spirit: Interview With Costi Hinn
Join us on this engaging episode as we welcome author, pastor, and speaker Costi Hinn to The Remnant Radio. Costi will delve into his latest book, "Knowing the Spirit," which challenges prevalent misconceptions among Christians who seek health, wealth, and happiness by treating the Holy Spirit like a genie. In our conversation, we'll explore the importance of understanding the true nature of the Holy Spirit and why developing a genuine relationship with Him is the next crucial step in every Christian's journey.
Costi Hinn will share his insights, addressing pressing questions about the Holy Spirit's role, His relevance in today's world, the concept of the baptism of the Holy Spirit, the gifts He bestows, and the significance of being filled with His presence.

That’s great that Costi is enlightened coming from a place of corrupting in the gifts but doesn’t mean there aren’t people who fully believe in the sovereignty of God that operate in the gifts. You need the Holy Spirit for teaching, correction, wisdom and understanding but you need Him for power. Let Him do what He pleases. Why are we shutting the Holy Spirit down when it comes to power?

All of these differences and groups who differ are really one group thinking God is misrepresented (error) by the other. I was in a reformed church for 27 years, orthodox Pres, evangelical. In His good love, I was led to an Assembly of God church that encouraged faith and the Holy Spirit’s power. We need both sovereignty and faith that acts powerfully.

This was great, I’ve been uncomfortable for some time now in most charismatic settings. It’s fresh to hear a cool calm pointed and stable voice amongst the mostly crazy. My traditional camp is always chasing signs and wonders, we exaggerate what we think is from God which mostly turns out to be us , we are so gimmick driven. I’ve been aware that these settings have the potential to cause people to “ despise prophecy “ I’m going to check out mr Hinn’s book and seek a more stable and possibly more spirit and scriptural path. ✌️

"I'm not beoming a Calvinist. I'll start to complain about things I believe God sovereignly decreed." Really? Cause the bible shows us how God decrees the good and the bad. Multiple verses. A big difference between those who believe in the cessation of the gifts of the Holy Spirit and those who don't is, in reality, that cessationists don't believe Mt. 28:19-20 "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Another scripture that goes along with this is Ac. 1:1-2 In my former book, Theophilus, I wrote about all that Jesus began to do and to teach until the day he was taken up to heaven, after giving instructions through the Holy Spirit to the apostles he had chosen. So, the two statements "and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you." and "after giving instructions through the Holy Spirit to the apostles he had chosen." are essential for knowing what Jesus expected his followers to be doing until his return. That means RIGHT NOW. Jn. 14:12-14 I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it. Many cessationists look at the book of Acts only from a historical perspective. It's much more than that, it is full of the instructions that Jesus gave before he left and they're alive and well TODAY.

Scripture clearly teaches we should earnestly desire spiritual gifts. Does Costi believe that? How would he respond to those in his church who say they have a spiritual gifting like prophecy and seek to use that in the church? Cessationists effectively say that it is okay to ignore or suppress these manifestations of the Spirit. In practice it results in them butchering the passages of Scripture teaching on the topic and expresses itself it contempt of those who seek to exercise their gifting. I like that there is a gracious tone to this conversation but it effectively skirts around the issues. The intent of this station is to encourage open and honest debate on this topic. That can be done in a constructive manner. The way people respond to the hard questions will give a better measure of their love for God.

Question: how much of Hebrews 6:1-2 applies to soteriology, and would the filling of the Holy Spirit be a one method fits all process, or does the Bible demand an evidence that He is present in power and transformation? I am referring to the belief that everyone gets the Holy Spirit when they "first believe".

So glad he came out of that movement but sad that he is now in reformed theology (and no, it is not biblical theology at all). I was stuck in it for 11 years. I thought God was behind all the evil in the world and he caused even children to suffer horrifically so he could get more glory for himself. And worse he created people with the express purpose of burning them for eternity with no hope for his own pleasure. But I had to say this was actually a good thing because God is good. I didn't know if God had chosen me for hell- after all people fall away from the faith and we say they were never *really* saved and God didn't choose them for heaven but chose them for hell. How could I possibly know if that was me until I died and woke up in glory or in flames to be tortured for eternity? I stopped taking hot showers because it made me think of hell. And what if God wanted my children in hell? I did not feel the love or grace or justice of God in Calvinism. I felt it for the first time in 11 years when I left and it was so amazing I will never forget it. I hope Costi keeps studying the Bible more than reformed books and sees that Calvinism is a false teaching before it leads him to pride or despair like it does for so many Calvinists.

I’ve been in Charismatic churches for 45 years. Graduated from Christ For The Nations. Worked for the infamous Robert Tilton. Etc etc. There are definitely areas of the movement that I have issues with. That’s why I watched this. And while I appreciate much of what Costi said, there is a place where the Reformed Church really loses me. Calling people heretics, using words like blasphemy, going so far to question, strongly question, other believer’s salvation. If you can be more specific and pick the individual ministers you KNOW are knowingly seeking to deceive people, that’s one thing. I would like to know who they are. But over and over I see and hear the accusation painted with a VERY broad brush. In 45 years, other than that weirdo Tilton, I’ve yet to meet anyone that I did not think was sincere in their love of God and desire to earnestly seek Him and live by The Word.

Costi Hinn talks about humility and saying “I can learn something from you, I don’t have it all figured out.” Saying that that is a way that cessationists of the middle ground and Charismatics the middle ground can get along and have unity. But he speaks highly of John MacArthur, he is attending John MacArthur‘s seminary, and John MacArthur says that Pentecostals have made no significant contributions to theology. So he is studying at a school headed by a man who doesn’t believe he can learn anything from Pentecostals. That flat-out contradicts Costi’s own proposal stated in the video. Maybe Costi should have chosen another place to study if he really means what he says here.

I have heard him being interviewed by Justin Peters and I agree with them on some points however Justin Peters loses me because he considers all charismatics as heretics. I believe that his false teaching is that the gifts of the Spirit are not for today. I believe that to believe the ceesationist doctrine does grieve the Holy Spirit. There is a lot of talk about healing but healing is not the only gift of the Spirit that cessationist believe are no longer operative in the church today. Words of Knowledge, Words of Wisdom, Tongues and Interpretation which equals prophesy. Divers kinds of tongues, discernment of spirits. If you discard these gifts I think you are missing much of the power the Holy Spirit gives to the believer.

Some of these guys act like they’re the doctoral popes or something. I’m not an Uber hyper prosperity person either, but neither do I believe that the gifts of ceased in anyway and even though I deal with a disability, my experience is not the barometer of truth. About 15 minutes in. This is a false dichotomy. Just because Jesus is the sovereign healer and can heal anytime he chooses, does not negate the necessity of exercising faith on our part because many times, Jesus said things, like, according to your faith, be it unto you. So one does not negate or counsel out the other. A lot of this sovereignty stuff is an excuse for powerlessness. I would rather aim high and miss it, then to never aim and hit it every time. It’s like the whole reformed Armenian debate, and as much as I love to study it, a lot of it is just ridiculous. It’s the same way over here when it comes to the power of the Holy Spirit. MacArthur believes that the gifts have ceased and therefore doesn’t believe God for much of anything in the natural world. Some of these same people that rant and rave about sovereignty are the same people many times that do not believe God for healing very much at all and that just is the way it is. I say this is an individual that has been blind from birth so I think I can add some substance to the conversation. Just because I have a disability doesn’t give me the right to use my experience as the barometer of truth. I made up my mind years ago that I was going to preach and teach healing because it is in the word of God and you know what? People are healed. People are delivered and set free from demonic torment, and the Lord works through me despite my present human physical frailty. The doctrine of the cessation of the gifts is grievous error. I love them, but they’re wrong, and they’re denying the power of God to work consistently, and presently among the people of God, and it hurts people. And robs them of the blessings of God and there’s no excuse for it whatsoever. I guess I should say how I really feel about it. Lol that’s just an area that admittedly I do not have patience for. I get that we have been disappointed in things, and we have had bad experiences, but we have a choice to make. Are we going to believe the overwhelming evidence of Scripture that the gifts continue, or are we going to have a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof? I know people don’t like for me to say it that way, but it just is what it is. It is error and it is grievous and it is not the wheel of God.

He's has been so haughty and smug like Justin Peters, not sure I can take him seriously. Plus, he seems like after he got caught in a lie, he's more humble. I'll listen but not sure I'll believe he's changed.

@dustincampbell4835 Hinn is the average calvinist....they call for what's right on their terms while spreading the gospel of gnostic, violent, hertic in Calvin. He is no better than his Uncle. Peters got caught in a lie too has yet to repent...he just faded into the background.

@dustincampbell4835 I posted the article....to summarized he claimed someone was misleading other people and went on a tirade. He was forced to apologized but he was so proud he backtracked but never acknowledged his part in it. He covered up for someone... Peters did the same...he covered for Mcarthur when he had that financial scandal. Saying he new nothing about it, but he did..never repented.

@dustincampbell4835 mcarthur lied to a woman and scolded her because she wanted to leave her husband, who was abusing her and molesting the kids. He covered for that guy and threw her out the church...

Someone please tell me the difference between Charismatic, Pentecostal and Full Gospel churches.
@matthewashman1406
@matthewashman1406 Год назад
Pentecostal churches generally have there roots in the Pentecostal move of early 20th century. Believe tongues as a sign of baptism of holy spirit. Charismatic are trad churches with Pentecostal experience but dont emphasize speaking in tongues as much. Full gospel not so much a church movement but a para church move . Emphasizing Pentecostal experiences and the 2nd coming of christ. Basically

Yes, this is a noble step in the right direction. Some things in late Charismatic belief were tending toward the heretical, but to be fair, prosperity and healing are less antithetical to Christ than 'limited atonement!" We pray for brother Costi to come to a place of greater understanding with respect to the gift of the Holy Spirit (one gift) with several (nine) "spirituals," "giftings," "manifestations

Why do you have this opportunist on. Benny has poured out his heart and repented from prosperity gospel. He uses his uncle to base to make himself look good. PLEASE

Great interview...but, if a denomination claims the Holy Spirit has stopped giving gifts to empower the church they are truly grieving the Holy Spirit, some are even blasphemy the Holy Spirit by saying its demonic. This is seriously wrong.

Costi is more mature and filled with grace than when He wrote defining deception. That was a fault finding very devisive book he should repent of. That book caused much division in my household.

So the main thing the charismatic camp needs is deterministic soteriology?

Man... huge red flags with Costi the whole interview. but i love that you have people from all different view points on this channel. Costi just seems like a guy who doesnt believe in the power of the spirit and is quick to point out faults in others to somehow boost his own self

Why is cessation even an issue? I'll answer my own question. It wasn't an issue with Jesus or the apostles. Why, because they new that Jesus wasn't creating a new religion he was bringing the kingdom of God to earth. That kingdom is supernatural as demonstrated by Jesus, the apostles, and many disciples down through the ages. So what happened? Men turned what Jesus established into a religion and millions of people, not knowing the truth, became a part of a religious system started by the Roman emperor Constantine. It became the Roman Catholic church and the Eastern Orthodox church and later through the reformation many other churches. The problem was, and still is, they're all human based institutions and they're not doing what Jesus commanded and established. They don't even know what the GOSPEL is. According to Jesus it's the GOSPEL OF THE KINGDOM: Mt. 24:14 "And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come." The events in Acts are a direct result of what Luke wrote in verses 1-3: Ac. 1:1 In my former book, Theophilus, I wrote about all that Jesus began to do and to teach Ac. 1:2 until the day he was taken up to heaven, after giving instructions through the Holy Spirit to the apostles he had chosen. Ac. 1:3 After his suffering, he showed himself to these men and gave many convincing proofs that he was alive. He appeared to them over a period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God. So, the last thing Jesus spoke about before leaving was the kingdom of God and just prior to his return his true disciples will be faithfully proclaiming the good news of the kingdom with signs, wonders, and supernatural gifts of the Holy Spirit. They will have received the promised Holy Spirit just like happened to the apostles and other disciples on the original day of Pentecost. But it will only be a remnant. Only those people who have received the FULL REVELATION of the kingdom will be in that group. Most won't get the revelation because they will not be willing to give up their man-made religion. Why not? Because there's just enough scriptural truth in it for Satan to keep them captive to it. I pray that everyone who reads this comment will break out of their religious bondage. If you do you will begin to see what Jesus really intends to be happening with his church. WAKE UP PEOPLE! Many of you have been robbed of the truth and Jesus says it's the truth that makes you FREE. Jn. 8:31 To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Jn. 8:32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” EVERYTHING JESUS BEGAN TO DO AND TEACH IS TO CONTINUE UNTIL HE SAYS OTHERWISE. AMEN!
