I remember 1967 well. Ted Jones of IHRA fame owned or operated all 3 of our local dragstrips. The electronic timing was just coming into play. Kettlersville drags strip had starting lights but the finish line was a couple of us with flashlights for the finish line. Most cars of the time were stick shifts and the sound of these cars coming down the track is orgasmic to me. I love the sound of these screaming stick shifting cars just give me chills. Thank you all for the work you do and sharing it with us on line.
SEGA just keeps gett'n better 'n better each race and for sure each video. Thanks so much for getting the SEGA organized, drawing fantastic "old school" drag race teams and the a huge thumbs up to all the fans and sponsors. We who cannot attend absolutely love these videos. Hopefully one day the Pacific NorthWest will get an old school Gasser's Association going on the West Coast.
Great video..now..tune this part up..." Jub i lant" not " jub u lant" thie video was so perfect tha andt was the only thing. Look, my family is from ERWIN Tn and I went to U.T. down on Cumberland Ave so I know the lingo.. (and like President Bush II saying "nuc U lar" > that said, I can't wait to come down and enjoy one of your events in person...and after organizing and operating 300 major drag races myself AMA DRAGBIKE! and DRAGBIKE! USA from Epping to Carlsbad and Kent Wa to Pembroke Pines, Fl (Miami Hollywood)..I know quality when I see it..and you guys are it.
Ya crash your bike you get back on it same as a car I’ve seen guys come with in inches of losing ther life but they do what they love that’s a real fine looking track especialy in the mountains
It's just like it was done in the 1960's. Example A/Gas 6 lbs per cubic inch. a 400 cubic inch engine would be 400 X 6 = 2,400 lbs. Cars are weighted after the run with driver.
Southern California Had So Many Dragstrips In The Early 60s Then Almost Overnight They Were Gone San Fernando , Lions, Fontana, Irwindale. Just To Name A Few. All We Got Now Is Pomona And LA County At Least We Still Have The Winternationals At Pomona
You might notice if you pay attention that this is not bracket racing. No need for clocks on a race that is first to the finish line wins. Might also take notes that mid 1960's drag racing at small mom and pa tracks didn't have clocks so we are trying to mirror that at much as we can. 104,000 views nobody else liked it either LOL. ~Quain Stott~
So that's why no spectators show up at these races. We have been trying to figure it out for almost 10 years and it took someone like you to give us the answer. What should we change to maybe 1/2 or 3/4 mile.
@@SoutheastGassersAssociation Don't Care Scared To Go 1/4 The 1/8 Is For Junior Dragster Never Seen Any Gassers In Ca. Do Only 1/8 But Like I Said Don't Give A Flying Rats Ass What You Do Try 1/16
@@garymarko409 It went right over your head just like I figured it would. Plenty of tracks ran 1/8 back in the 60's but someone like you that's knows the history I'm sure already knows that. There were 1/5th mile tracks also back then but you knew that to I'm sure. Very few 1/4 mile mom and pa tracks left in the country now days. Oh I forgot you're in Ca where it's always done the right way.
