Just so y'all know: This short was written by Ian Flynn (who wrote some of the BEST runs of IDW Sonic Comics and continuously respects the characters in them) and animated by Powerhouse Animation (who you may know from Netflix's "Castlevania" and "Masters of the Universe: Revelations" animated series). They got Evan Stanley (also of IDW Sonic fame) to co-write AND they got Tyson Hesse himself to direct, along with music by TEE LOPES (Sonic Mania). Essentially, Sonic Team assembled the Avengers for this one! All the GOATs of Sonic for the last 5 years were involved! I can't recommend the IDW Comics enough and if you want more of this animation, "Castlevania" is the Show to watch!
This just leaves me wondering if Angel Island was once one of the Starfall Islands. Seems strange that a cyberspace portal would have been there otherwise (and I think the fact that Knuckles questions who built the Master Emerald shrine at the start kind of eludes to that being the case)

Bro as someone who's favorite Sonic character is Knuckles, it's so amazing to finally see him be treated well again with the movie and now Frontiers! Being an absolute badass but also compassionate, that's my goat!
What if angel island wasn't always floating? What is angel island was originally apart of the Starfall islands? That could be why there is a cyber chair on angel island. Just a thought.
I’m so glad that knuckles has been returned to his old self and isn’t a complete idiot anymore! Also we need Tails and Shadow redemptions cause they got butchered really bad (Also maybe eggman cause he been too goofy these last games ngl)

I don’t know about y’all but that was like anime style action right there, the way Knuckles was moving was incredible. And the way Knuckles was repeating his dialogue from the beginning in the end had a lot of emotion, this shows Sonic Team is trying to build Sonic’s reputation back to where it used to be.
That animation was so good. Like ngl it got me a little emotional just seeing something so perfect in relation to Sonic. Like they really just hit the nail on the head there with Knuckle's character
2022 really is Knuckles's year isn't it? First Sonic Movie 2, an announcement for a show focusing primarily on him, and now this short! I hope that in the game itself, the rest of Sonic and company will be written as well as Knuckles was in this short!
Honestly it's such a small little thing but my favourite part of this whole animation may just be when Knuckles punches the tree so the chao can get the fruit. It's such a simple act and yet it speaks volumes of his character and how he cherishes life in his own way from Sonic. It's a perfect example of show, don't tell
This is a combination of the intro to Knuckles' story in Sonic Adventure (but done better) and a prologue to Sonic Frontiers. The writing and dialogue are great, the animation is phenomenal, and Knuckles' voice performance is wonderful. If this is an omen to what we can expect from the games in the future, I'll be so happy 😭
I’m so happy that Knuckles’ character is finally back! I wish Sega does more stuff like this in the future. Now my Hopium lies in Shadow getting this type of treatment…
This was nothing short of AMAZING 🤩 Dave KILLED it as Knuckles, and it was a breath of fresh air to watch the Echidna NOT be portrayed as a useless idiot: kudos to Flynn for that one 🎉 And the animation was beautiful: Sega and Powerhouse Studios should just give us a full on Sonic series with Flynn doing the story☺️ Also: the Chaos are BACK🤗

Watching that fight scene has me begging for Knuckles DLC for Frontiers or something. You can't have that crazy combat system and not get my boy in on that
man, i've rewatched the prologue so many times since it was released this morning, but seeing your reaction to it was like watching a friend react to something crazy. THE HYPE IS REAL!!! They have to make a Knuckles game after this, man! This short & the 2nd Sonic movie showcases Knuckles massive potential, it proves that they can properly represent Knuckles, & that he can stand alone without Sonic & the gang. Knuckles needs his own game franchise, period!

imma drop my speculation thoughts here: i have a feeling that the "ancients" and probably the koco as well come from sky sanctuary, and the cyber space portals are like fast-travel points to and from the kronos islands to points in sonic's world/earth, and they need those portal gears to work (idk if its one way or not, maybe you need a gear in BOTH portals to get to and from those places) knuckles probably arrived here before eggman, and maybe sage attacking him was just a security protocol by the ancients (maybe if they detect a non-ancient accessing the portals, sage is sent to stop them (i believe she is made by the ancients as some kind of weapon to protect the islands and subsequently, cyber space) i ALSO believe once eggman uploaded his ai into one of the cyber space portal thing (which i believe becomes that ai woman that talks to sonic), it spread the ai across the kronos islands (like maybe theres some kinda forcefield around the kronos island to stop cyber space from spreading across the entire world if it ever malfunctioned, which it did), and the places which the portals would lead to (green hill, sky sanctuary, city escape ect.), got parts of them (and also parts of other levels, i.e. windmill isle's level design, city escape's level design) mixed with each other, kinda justifying why the cyber space levels have reused level themes and level designs (YES I'M TRYING TO JUSTIFY LAZINESS I KNOW) and also say, if sonic put a portal gear into the same portal thing that knuckles got to one of the starfall islands from, he should THEORETICALLY be able to travel to sky sanctuary cause theyre both in their entry points, but maybe he can't cause of the aforementioned forcefield, which MIGHT stop anyone from leaving the kronos islands, idk also sage might think sonic, tails, knuckles, amy ect, are behind the cyber space malfunction (MAYBE not knuckles tho, if he came before eggman), and that's why she's trynna stop them (then again, judging by what happened to knuckles, maybe she just REALLY doesn't like visitors) also i kinda speculate that the ai is evil and she tries to coax sonic to get the emeralds and open "the gateway between dimensions" or whatever to set her free, so she can cause havoc, and she's like the TRUE villain of this game anyways this is getting WAY too long so im gonna stop now

it's crazy that a cyberspace portal from the ancients has been sitting on Sky Sanctuary all this time. Even running through Sky Sanctuary in 3 & Knuckles, a cyberspace portal is just up there and none of the characters know about it.
LORE SWEET, DELICIOUS, LORE WE HAVEN’T GOTTEN LORE IN A SONIC GAME SINCE UNLEASHED. And even then it was never expanded upon or mentioned again. Edit: just realising that if this game is going into the origin of the Chaos and Master Emerald, and Light/Dark Gaia are connected to them, then they could be going into more lore from Unleashed and how it’s connected to the Echidna tribe and the emeralds. The Gaia Temples look similar to the cyberspace portals in design.

I really wish that we didn't get the Sonic movies we got. So much money wasted on live action cartoon character in the real world slop that's been done a thousand times when we could have been put all that time and money towards something like this.

Oh my gosh, even the art designs for the chows were even carried over from sonic X I have a feeling second nose that people loved sonic so much that they had to make an entirely new anime just for sonic frontier
