I feel like the writers didn’t want to make a knuckles show but they instead used him as a marketing ploy to trick sonic fans into watching a Wade movie. Sad.
Build up Wade. Give Dr. Robotnik characters he can kill later on to keep up his role as the villain since he’ll never be able to do that to any of the game characters.
At least one of the writers is on both, last I checked. Bearing in mind Sonic Movie 3 's script was finished before May of LAST year (according to the writers)
Yeah, after reading your tweets earlier, the first few minutes of this review almost gave me whiplash. Until you mentioned Angel Island. That’s when my brain was like, “man, he’s just fuckin’ with us!”. Well played, sir.
Yeah, that I don't like. I tolerate that since it's mostly a bit part in a 2 hour movie, but a whole 6 episode show running about 22-33 minutes with episodes having that problem? No thanks, I draw the line at that obvious cost saving nonsense.
@motherplayer to be honest, I gave up when they did that lazy musical in the bowling alley. if I was believing that it needed to give time to became good, everything disappeared in that moment
If I had a nickel for every time smug writers inexplicably got hired to write a Knuckles story and referenced The Holocaust, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's odd that it happened twice.
@@andreasmeelie1889 Penders. I don't know what issue but I think it was related to the Knuckles lore he sued SEGA over stealing. He paraphrased that famous quote about staying silent when they came for various people until nobody was left, much to readers' shock and disbelief.
I geniunely think this is some of the worst for how anti-Sonic this was. Someone described it best that Knuckles is not a character, he's a plot device for Wade. Also I hated the generic movie music choices that felt like any other show other than Sonic. And the sentiment "go by what it is than what you expected" is bullshit because even if it was a funny sitcom it is objectively a *bad* Sonic show. It is something than being what it's supposed to be. About Knuckles. It's like wanting excellent pizza but you're given excellent sushi. Doesn't matter how great that sushi is, you want pizza. If there was story potential I wanted some kind of prequel of Knuckles in his tribe as a kid, something actually lore based and exciting. But instead we get a bad sitcom.
@@vadim_65rus Whats wrong with all of you guys??? This show was written fine and also this show is very clearly not meant to be taken seriously, Im a huge sonic and i enjoyed this show a lot, Wade's Antics were fun, Wade and Knuckles interactions were incredibly charming and funny, I liked the comedy and found it funny, Theres nothing wrong with humans and you should review a show for what it does and not what you want it to do. Knuckles had plenty of screentime (While ill admit he has less screentime in episodes 5 & 6, I dont care because this show does wades parts well and they are not bad in any way and are very entertaining.) Only cons with this show are the villains and Wanda. Y'all are just stubborn and as soon as this show wasnt exactly what you wanted it to be You all were just like 0/10!!! NO ROUGE! TOO MUCH WADE! That isnt criticism, That's just being immature.
The fact almost all the apologist arguments can be disproven with "The Super Mario movie made a billion dollars" says everything. Paramount is targeting a general audience who stopped existing 20 years ago.
Mario is more popular than sonic. Any mario content are gonna be watched with people who are fans are recognize mario stuff. Most people aren't aware of game sonic. So most of movie sonic fans aren't fans of the games so they've gotta target a general audience
@@KgEclispe252 the adventure Era. That is 20 years ago. And sonic games do sell well but no where near as mario for example frontiers sonic highest selling game in decades sold 4 million copies as of current which surpassing sonic heroes sales. Mario wonder sold 13 million copies and that game isn't even a year old. You see the difference sonic just isn't as popular as mario and it's the brutal honest truth
@@whiten4635 That is true not denying that part. But acting like no one knows any Sonic characters is ridiculous. And who cares why not introduce these characters to a new audience then?
So heres the thing abt this show It is written by an ENTIRELY different team. Only episode 1 was directed by Jeff Fowler. Pat Casey didnt write any of the episodes either, and the budget is obv low to save more for sonic 3. I am not worried for Sonic 3, bc that writing team is more competent than whoever was writing this
Why couldn't they just get the same team members behind the first 2 movies to lay the ground work for the knuckles show? I understand work the 3rd movie is important but come on, if you're gonna make a mini series that is between the 2nd movie and the up coming 3rd movie then maybe you should at least have the movienteam lay out a foundation to make the mini series feel more promising to it's title.
I'm sorry that this is really negative but If I'm honest, this show has ruined the Sonic movie universe for me. I've decided that I'm not seeing Sonic movie 3 in theaters and am just gonna wait until it comes to Paramount because I don't want to waste money on seeing these stupid human characters getting 95% of the movies runtime with more awful jokes. First Sonic Boom, then Sonic Prime and now this?? Is it really THAT hard to make a good Sonic show??
Listen, i didn't even like the show all that much, but the thing you're asking for is also completely unrealistic for the franchise. There is absolutely no way in hell that they would ever introduce at least 3 new fan favorite characters inside a spin-off show, especially since the series so far has stuck to introducing 2 per movie. This show should have had more Knuckles in it definitely, focusing on Wade as much as they did was a problem, but when talking about the future of the franchise, its not logical or realistic to throw away all the human characters and the entire human side of the story to make way for Sonic fan service. The humans are here to stay. They've made that incredibly apparent. This is an adaptation, a new look on the Sonic franchise, so personally, im glad it's not like the games. That would be boring. The Mario Movie was boring for that exact reason. It didn't take any risks and ended up being 90 minutes of fanservice without a good story. The Sonic movies have had good stories, and a big part of that is the dynamic between Sonic, Robotnik, and Tom. So yes, Sonic is more domesticated and not like his game counterpart in that way, but theyre trying something new with the character, and personally, thats more exciting to me as a viewer because i dont know where this franchise is going. It would be incredibly boring as a fan to watch these movies be 1-1 carbon copies of the games because, like, im just seeing things i already know, but honestly, done worse. Im not expecting Sonic 3 to be exactly like SA2, and honestly, i really dont want it to be. That would suck as a movie. I want to be surprised. So if that's what you're expecting of Sonic 3, you need to tamper with your expectations because you're going to be disappointed.
My biggest issue with the defenders trying to justify those human scenes and gaslight you to make it think it's good, is that if they're "sooo good" why would not the marketing simply be honest about it? Why lie? Why hide the fact that Wade is the focus and market it as the Knuckle show? If they're that confident with the writing that could've been more honest in the marketing.
@@professordreadwin7959exactly like every trailer, if it’s live action it’s gonna have humans. They’d just animate it if they’re gonna do a true solo knuckles series. It’s cheaper and easier to make
They did market wade? Literally the trailers were about knuckles making wade into a warrior. It's your fault for expecting something different. And not to mention they are working sonic movie 3 of course knuckles ain't gonna be in it much edris and cgi works as well as some of writers are working on a whole different movie. We aren't gaslighting. We are being reasonable.
I don't think this franchise should keep the human character appearances to a minimum and would rather they just give the humans more urgency in Sonic's story, but the way you describe it makes it sound like the opposite where Knuckles is placed into Wade's story rather than Wade being placed into Knuckles' story.
Honestly, that was my thoughts on the first movie. considering the second movie was more like Sonic 3 & Knuckles, then the first movie would've been like Sonic 2 where Sonic enjoys being alone in the human world until Tails accidentally travels to Earth and tags along with Sonic because he's lonely but reveals he has the chance to return back home, which Sonic uses him as a way to talk his way on getting home. Basically a buddy movie. Sonic and Tails are also on the run from the government and Dr Robotnik. And through the adventure is when Sonic begins to bond with Tails as a little bother-figure and there would be scenarios where Tails saves Sonic. (Maybe because Sonic can't swim, have a scene where he's caught in a running river and Tails finds and saves him.) And at the end, they end up losing their rings but use the last one to vanquish Robotnik and decide to stay on Earth and Sonic decides to raise him. Idk, something like that.
Watched it through and thats exactly how this show felt. Loke Knuckles was dropped into Wades story, that KNUCKLES was the answer to Wades problem. It was the Wade show featuring Knuckles.
literally the main conflict is wade trying to win a bowling tournament and knuckles was just there to help him. it IS wade's story with knuckles in it. the fact that after the second movie AND a whole spin off show there's only five sonic characters is embarrassing especially when you look at the mario movie. if any of the human characters get anymore than 5 minutes of screentime in the third movie, then thats complete bs
I agree to some extent but idk, the Sonic movie property has always been like this, and people praised it for its “originality” so I never expected anything great from this series and what I got was something on par with like Sonic 1 really. I just find it baffling that all these complaints are coming out now that we’re three and a half movies in??
My guy you do realize that mario and fnaf are more direct with the source material whilst movie sonic isn't. So of course sonic team ain't gonna always be the 100% focus
The Mario movie isn't even a good movie lol It's just fanservice slapped on a lazy story. You guys are cracking me up with the "Sonic was never good" stuff.
What makes me the most sad is that I was actually 100% on board with the premise. I was hoping for something more akin to Sonic 1, with Wade and Knuckles bonding over an adventure while nast foes are trgering them. The problem is that they decided having their bond be rhe centerpiece of the show was too tough so they had to pivot so hard on to Wade's family that made rhe GUY WHOS SHOW IS NAMED AFTER completely fall by the wayside. I hate to feel like this cause I truly enjoy how the sonic movie universe handles the interaction between the live action and cg characters. Its why i actually enjoyed episode 1 the most and why I can see Fowler understands the assigment. But the folls that take over after he leaves past ep 1 did NOT
Did Wade actually get drugged in episode 4? I thought he got electrocuted and after the electricity knocked him out he was just dreaming about Pachacamac.
While i agree that this show was not very good. I don't think this will be indicative of Sonic Movie 3 at all. Jeff Fowler only directed episode 1 of this show and in my opinion that was the best episode of the season. Not even Pat Casey the literal writer of the Sonic Movies was involved with this show. While you have every right to be worried about Sonic 3. I personally have confidence that Jeff fowler, Pat Casey and Tyson Hesse can deliver us a movie that Sonic Fans will absolutley enjoy but of course only time will tell.
The song from the Knuckles series intro is the 1984 Scandal “The Warrior” from the album of the same name as the song. Very popular song, appealed to feminists movement of the 1980s and was featured on the Flash FM radio station on the Grand Theft Auto Vice City Stories soundtrack btw.
Given how insulting and terrible Paramounts take on Halo was, I would say you are justified in fearing for the Third Sonic film to having an advertisement campaign that gaslights the audience and fans into thinking Garbage is gold. I learned that from being brainwashed by the phenomenal advertisement campaign of Godzilla: King of the Monsters. Only to be COMPLETELY disappointed by the complete mess that was final product.
How to solve this issue in ten seconds...we start Sonic 3 with Wade waking up from a nap. "Wow..that was a weird dream." and never see it referenced again.
@@awesomeocelot7475 For those that consider the show an insult already, that's probably what they want. To invalidate its existence. Wipe it from the continuity. I don't, personally, but the option is there.
@@awesomeocelot7475 I don't think Knuckles had nearly as much development as Wade did. Sure, he kind of got more used to humans, but he's still pretty static. Wade had the 'arc' of the series, which helped him find his confidence.
This show is absolutely awful. You people better give more respect to the Knuckles' comics. While Knuckles wasn't even the main character in those, they were interesting and sincere at least. It felt like Ken Penders wanted to write it.
So because this show didn't have enough knuckles it means its bad. You do realize it would be nearly impossible to make a fully centered knuckles show when sonic 3 is in production. Some the writers. Most of the cgi workers and Edris were prioritizing the movie. That's why knuckles isn't hear much they didn't have the time nor budget him to put him that heavily in the episodes unless they wanted to delay or hinder the third movie
@@antidisestablishmentarianism3 So you're saying your chocolate ice cream with m&m pieces is bad because there is 75% more m&m pieces than chocolate and was perhaps advertised falsely? Do you know how much money would be needed to get more chocolate while the sequel to that flavor is in production?
Now every time I think about the marketing for this series & how Knuckles was basically promised to be the protagonist, all i can think about is Tyler the Creator saying "so that was a fucking lie" Also now I can't stop thinking about how I want to watch a show that doesn't exist. AKA the show you described in the fake-out review for the first five minutes of the video lmao
The reactions to this show are quite polarizing and entirely built on what expectations were had before watching. Those who expected more Sonic stuff were highly disappointed that there wasn't enough Knuckles or really much Sonic material at all. Those who expected more Sonic MOVIE stuff got about what they expected and enjoyed it for what it was. Wade was in the marketing pretty consistently so I'm not sure why it's that frustrating to everyone that Knuckles doesn't have the spotlight in every episode. The bigger issue was that it needed more episodes to round out the character arcs and have a proper finale with Knuckles and Wade.
it's a really dumb take to say "Thic Character appeared once in a way we don't like, therefore we will never get the original character" danm, you haven't watched any recent disney movies
Knuckles is a character that people loves and this show is disrespectful towards him and the franchise that he comes from And I hope 1 day he gets a second chance to get a show that gives him proper justice.
A few tidbits of lore that I appreciated in the show: 1. The mention of Robotnik's first name, "Ivo". 2. The confirmation that GUN has been around a lot longer in some form than we were led to believe. It just wasn't always called GUN. 3. One of the bowling commentators mentioned something about a similar incident involving an alien in 1974 which is 50 years prior to the show. 4. A look inside the GUN Headquarters which seems to share some design cues with what we saw in the Shadow game. I get the feeling some of this will be relevant in Sonic 3.
Hot take But despite the series focusing on wade it also gave knuckles a genuine arc with learning how to feel like he's actually at home and part of a family. Yes it's weaker than the movies but as content in the movie universe its fairly solid.
I just finished watching the Knuckles Series and honestly it would have been better as a Movie but I Enjoyed it for the Most Part, sure Wade was the Main Focus but I knew that it would have been expensive to make a CGI Character the Main Focus in a Series but I have Fun and there’s surprisingly a lot of Sonic Easter Egg with Ivo Robotnik, the Flames of Disaster, and Shadow, IGN was right to put it a 8 out of 10.
14:08 As a jew, I think the mother could be referring to some other things, other than only the holocaust (as I assumed you assumed). The tribe of Israel faced a lot of similar things throughout history as you can read in תנ״ך (the Bible) and also in modern times - the people of Israel faced some harsh things as I mentioned. I think this show doesn't afraid to touch on some complicated subjects, like bad parenthood. don't get me wrong, this show is for kids, but it doesn't draw a "sweet lovely" world, by it's action scenes, by it's subjects and even by its language sometimes, and I liked it, its was complex here and there. as a Sonic fan, It would be amazing if we got a lot more Knuckles. but personally, the 360 Hava Nagila was the best thing.
I hate that they made yet another absolutely pathetic beta male / man-child character (Wade). Do kids actually laugh at this kind of comedy? Why didn't SEGA Japan handle the movies/show like Nintendo did with Mario? Ah well.
Apparently, the main reason for the Rock Opera episode was they wanted to explore this Knuckles' backstory, but didn't have the budget for a full photo-realistic animated scene. It does make me wish it was an almost entirely CGI series that didn't need to be photo realistic, but I like that they used what they could instead of just dumping the backstory. Even though it was partially of focusing on licensed music and big names. A couple of things I do like is they might have allowed connection with the Paramount G.U.N. and Project Shadow, since it seems they've been around for a while. I'm also hoping including Iblis, they are setting up a loose adaptation of Sonic 06. Maybe not adapt the Elise parts (especially since Knuckles may be the vessel), but focus on Solaris. I could also see them mixing in elements of Sonic Adventure. There are lots of similarities between Adventure and 06's stories. Sins of the past, an angry god, etc. I know that the movie writers didn't work on this, but they could look at these few Sonic references and work with them
Y'all remember that short Sonic Drone Home? The Knuckles show should've been that but a full series, they could've had him go on an adventure where the Master Emerald gets stolen and Knuckles going on a globe-trotting adventure to get it back.I don't even need Rouge to be the one who steals it,just give us Fang The Sniper played by Rob Paulsen, and I'll be content, happy even.
i was literally seething in the opening of this video, nice detail to give your avatar light blue, it indicated smth was up and it was confirmed when you basically mentioned your pitch on twt
I had an alright time with the series. I def agree with the sentiment that it should have been more about Knuckles considering. You know he's literally the title character. But really, I kept my expectations moderate going in. From the getgo, the premise told me Wade was going to get as much attention if not more than Knuckles, so while not ideal, I don't really feel slighted given it was what I expected. It's a 6/10 at best, even on its own merits separate from the brand, but I wasn't really anticipating it being more than a somewhat fun romp in the Sonic movie universe, which is what I got. My only sticking point where I feel people are getting too worked up over is taking this series as if it's indicative of what Sonic 3 will be like. As some have pointed out, the movie staff have very little to do with this series, but even if you didn't know that, it seems pretty obvious that this was more of a slapped together side project to pump out a little more Sonic content than a legitimate "important" entry in the series. It's like saying Sonic Frontiers 2 will be bad because Superstars wasn't so hot. I understand brand synergy and I'm not suggesting this series won't have ANY impact on Sonic 3, but I do believe they're not using this series as a testing ground for the movies, so much as perhaps future miniseries spinoffs; I'd be more concerned about a Shadow spinoff series matching this quality than their big blockbuster threequel. Otherwise, while I don't think this series was all that bad- I'd certainly rather rewatch it than Prime or Underground- I can understand why it didn't sit well with a lot of people. Let's just not start drawing lines where there aren't any and assuming a budget miniseries by entirely different writers is indicative of the quality and care from proven writers who have made celebrated media in the past. Not saying Sonic 3 can't still be bad, I have my reservations about it myself, I just think it's unfair to judge it based on Knuckles.
I'd say the Human story is pretty entertaining(On its own accord), it should not be outright dominating a show where the premise is about Knuckles(Supposedly). I suspect its likely the people in charge of releasing the show realized there's be audience backlash akin to what happened with Halo Season 1. Hence why Paramount likely dropped it all at once they can pull the band aid off as quickly as possible and move on. That way they don't not end up in the situation with the Halo Show where the problems show more and more in increasing detail over the course of several weeks. For what it is
There is 1 rap track in the show that i thought they were trying to use to emulate the knuckles theme and it was when Wade was showing Knuckles what music was, and it was this rap song that just keeps saying KICK IT! Then knuckles kicks the radio and destroys it
I enjoyed it personally, the only thing I didn't like was the "flames of disaster" and the implication that knuckles fought and beat iblis. Which is insane to me. I don't expect the movies to follow the games lore completely, but that whole backstory for knuckles power is such a drastic change that if they ever did do a 06 adaptation, it would be unrecognizable.
It's not that crazy. Iblis is powerful but if Knuckles is as strong as Sonic in this universe, it's not that surprising. I would be surprised if iblis is just dead tho rather than just dormant.
The thing is you cant beat Iblis, it's a half of Solaris, an omnipotent and eternal god of time & space, even the purification from the positive energy of Super Sonic, Shadow and Silver were only able to revert back to its original and benevolent form, the Flame of Hope.
Guys you do realize that Iblis probably isn't the same as game canon. The movie version is gonna align with the game version and we've seen it mutiple times. For example the chaos emeralds forge and power the master in the movie, when in reality its the opposite the master emerald is the most powerful and completely nullify the emeralds. Having iblis be not as powerful isn't a big deal.
As someone who didn't have that much of a problem with the show, I was really looking forward to this video. Well, I'm always looking forward to your Sonic videos so this isn't surprising.
I honestly think stuff like the history of the Echidna tribe and Knuckles in general could've had more focus in this show. The Flames of Disaster could've been explained better too, like why Knuckles was seeking it out, and why he never used it until now.
I had extremely low expectations about the show, i had a feeling they wouldn't go craxy with the lore and for what we got... i mean it's not terrible- My expectations still remain pretty high for sonic movie 3 though
Episode 4 deserves an Emmy TBH. You got Wade playing Knuckles fighting TOkusatsu Iblis all the while voiced by Michael Bolton. Its absurd and I love it. Also the scene after they escape Ice Cap Zone, where Wade and Knuckles talk about "victory" and enjoying life...HIGHLY underrated. Wade has some nice insight when they play a serious scene, but your right when they basically have him be Loud or manbaby 95% of the time. Also Wanda was just bad. I Agree. It would be one thing to see her out in the field as a competent Agent...only to regress in the presence of family...but yeah they didnt' do that. Also I wanted more Pachacamac. I honestly think if they had a seventh episode it would help feel the last couple of episodes feel less Wade bloated. But hey this is an utter experiment by Paramount.
I hope the reason the show ended up like this is because they were putting more focus and effort on sonic 3 and just treated this as some inconsequential side project they didn’t give two F’s about… best case scenario.
The first episode was the only one directed by Jeff. It would’ve been a much stronger show if it kept the same balance between Knux, Wade, comedy & action that that one did. All the Wade stuff is mostly just for padding out the runtime since they obviously wouldn’t be able to afford putting over the top VFX filled action on the screen for anything more than half the time. It would’ve been perfectly balanced if it was just a spinoff movie because then they would’ve been forced to ration the runtime more effectively.
The ``plot of the show`` you said in the begining doesn't quite fit the movie universe that well but it would be amazing if the universe goes to some sort of ``PHASE 2`` where sonic and friends go back to the galaxy, more sonic characters show up and the humans have an already wrapped up story.
I will say I really enjoyed the animated intro with the CD’s. I felt it was very cute and clever. And any excuse to see Knuckles in his hat is a good excuse. The show on the other hand…there were scenes that were painful to watch. And for some reason my suspension of disbelief was pretty steady…up until the Samurai sword fight with the bounty Hunter…when the random mail man pulled out a flare gun to start the dual. It was the flare gun out of nowhere that knocked me across my head saying the “rules for this world” had been broken.
It’s a shame that these films can’t seem to represent the world of this franchise to its fullest. I’m sure there are some limitations that come with making live-action films… But you know, they really didn’t need to be live-action.😑 I’m stunned that they had the balls to allude to Iblis. But making Knuckles the protagonist of the Knuckles show? Nope, that’s where they had to draw the line.👌
This is why I'm kinda concerned with The Legend of Zelda movie. Why live action? I feel that with a story like that, it needs to be animated. I guess they may be going with a Lord of the Rings-like tale since Lord of the Rings gave us a hint of how The Legend of Zelda would look. Especially with how Legolas looked like Link. But with animated stuff they can have more range with emotions, shots that can't be done with a normal camera, and if the story is about a child Link like Wind Waker then yeah, it's more suited to be animated. But imo animated stuff has always been more interesting to me than live action. (I.e. Justice League/Justice League Unlimited) 2-d that is.
@@Mid-Suavementethey’re in the fucking promotion of the movies and show, wtf did you expect? It would just be an animated series or movie if they solely focused on the “animals”
Just finished it. It's like Sonic Movie 1, but BAD. All the cool parts in the trailer were barely in the show. Who cares about Knuckles when we have a bowling tournament instead? And what gets me is that it ISN'T a bad concept. I actually like Wade and him and Knuckles going on an adventure sounds pretty fun, but Knuckles gets shoved away from the story to the point I feel like I was lied to on who the story is focused on. If anything it's like what Sonic Movie 2 did with the Wedding subplot, but a billion times worse. These movies have genuinely good comedy, but as it stands it's easily the worst of the Sonic Movie saga overall.
It’s not insulting , that’s genuinely an insane claim to make. Is it bad , a little , but it’s not an insult to the franchise, it would be that if it ruined knuckles character, which it dosent. Dude the Sonic fan base are full of babies sometimes I swear .
18:38 Please say it louder, it needs to be said and heard, explain to me why general audiences somehow matter more than the fans who've been loving the series for years, make a faithful adaptation for the fans, it's loved, don't make something you said was what we love then it's nothing like it, that's lying to people And as for general audiences, why make shit for them when casual audiences will eat up whatever is made for them anyway, IF IT IS GOOD, general audiences WILL ALWAYS LOVE IT then both fans and them will be happy. I don't see how that's so hard to get.
Ain't no way he's saying it could be worse than prime. That is the SINGLE worst thing EVER in the franchise Edit: I started a war with ninjdraw8305 who waffles wayyyyyyyyyy too much

i hope this show doesn't make people hate the sonic movies in the same way colors ultimate just made people hate colors in general because of how much it soured their thoughts, i do think the sonic MOVIES have been amazing, i LOVE sonic 2, but, knuckles series wasn't it imo, and im still looking forward to movie 3, because i know they respect the material when they're working on the MOVIES
Yall be hating when a sonic character isnt in every frame,Like this show wasnt meant for die hard fans it was made for the general Audience and i feel like it does that really well, also am a big fan of sonic and it was fine
I doubt the general audience who pay for Paramount+ to watch a KNUCKLES TV SHOW want to see D tier actors fucking around doing kindergarten jokes instead. There's a million other things to watch there, you watch a KNUCKLES TV SHOW to get more Knuckles than what the final result provided.
I really loved knuckles. I do get why you didn't like it. I thought it was going to suck when I saw the trailers, but then I watched it and found some fun and had a good time.
I personally enjoyed “Knuckles” The first half was focusing on Knuckles learning more about Earth, what home means, and being a teacher/mentor. While the second half was more focused on Wade finding himself and showing what he’s learned on this journey. I love the development both characters got.
I thought the human villains were interesting, but they showed up less than Knuckles. I just feel if they were taking orders from Agent Stone in secret would have been better. And if they were working with Rouges as I kind of “help us get Knuckles and we’ll give you the Master Emerald” deal. Also I don’t need Wade playing Knuckles fighting Iblis, I need actual Knuckles fighting Iblis! Like why have that as the way to tell us this and not flash backs from Knuckles own perspective!? It might have had the most Sonic stuff, but that musical was honestly the point that broke me because they did everything to push Knuckles out of his own story!! It legit made me angry.
All I do when it comes to the Sonic movies is sing they’re praises. I think they’re so far an excellent adaptation of the games while standing on their own. But this show, I don’t know what anyone involved was thinking. I really, really hope this isn’t an indicator of things to come. And I hope that Paramount and the producers get the right message from the fan reception to this.
The second movie teased more of Knux's backstory. Now, I didn't expect the bits we got from SA1 or really anything from the Ken Penders books, but I at least thought this would delve into his childhood as he grew to become the guardian of the Master Emerald. When they announced this show, they didn't give a plot synopsis. So I assumed all that stuff about the echidnas that was teased in the movies would be explored here. It would make sense because running time in a theatrical film should be tight. To me, this was a major missed opportunity. And as much as I really love this interpretation of Rad Red, i really hope we start seeing some more character growth. His nieve nature is cute right now, but he shouldn't just be the dummy of the group. We all know he's actually smarter.
While I do love the idea of Knuckles Chaotix becoming a movie down the line, I don't think they'd have the budget to include Metal Sonic into a TV series, let alone Rouge, Vecter, Charmy and Espeo, and give them all good character development. I would say that could be a good movie after the third movie however, hopefully it can happen. Don't get me wrong, not defending the Knuckles 6 episode series, there's a lot... A LOT wrong with it, but I'd give it maybe a 5/10, 6/10 if I wanted to be biased for Knuckles and just say it was a fun time. But the villains were super weak, the Wade parts were hit or miss, mostly miss, the ending fight was very anticlimactic, flashy and cool once Knuckles started fighting, but over 10 seconds later. There was some good in it, just not enough to save this from just being another run of the mill series of road trip moments with Knuckles and Wade. Hopefully, in any future series they do, or in season 2 if they go through with it, they make it a bit more impactful for the main story rather than just Wade, but for what it was, it was okay.
the wedding scenes in Sonic 2 are not even bad it's like 6 minutes the human characters are really good in those scenes it was funny to there's honestly nothing to complain about the movie is a masterpiece in my opinion it was really cool people honestly need to get over complaining about that
This show kinda puts my biggest problem with the Sonic movies at the forefront. That being, it’s easily the least subversive piece of sonic media in franchise history.
