That Levi's ad and the pollution PSA were really good.

Looks like that was one of the last airings of the 60’s era ABC SUNDAY NIGHT MOVIE opener before they switched to the 70-74 opener (that was SUPER RARE until the good folks at OVS uncovered it!)

3:04 When I was a small kid, "The FBI" was in its final couple of seasons. It has been told to me that for the final season (1973-74 if I'm not mistaken), the Saul Bass-designed Warner "W" logo was used at the end of the credits, but we never really watched that show in our household at the time and I've never seen an episode on YT or elsewhere that has it.

40:54 Looks like September 20, 1970 (Bengals won, first regular season game as an AFC team, first regular season game in Riverfront Stadium). Entire tape seems to be from around that date judging from cigarette commercials, ads for 1971 cars, and network promos for fall 1970 season. Always cool to see actual broadcasts from almost 50 years ago!

5:17 - Farrah Fawcett ad for United Airlines. 5:30 - portions of "House on Greenapple Road" begin, which was the ABC Sunday Night Movie repeat of Sept. 6, 1970. That was also the pilot for the subsequent "Dan August" series. Christopher George played Dan August in the pilot movie, while Burt Reynolds played August in the series. 11:02 - Scenes to next week trailer for the Bonanza episode "The Night Virginia City Died." 49:56 - CBS promo for "The Tim Conway Comedy Hour" which premiered the night of Sunday, Sept. 20, 1970.

11:03 "The Night Virginia City Died," which kicked off "Bonanza"'s 12th season-its first to be taped at Warner Bros. Studios. Since they obviously couldn't bring the Paramount set with them, surely they made this as an excuse… ;)

Given that the NFL games on this tape were Cowboys at Eagles, Raiders at Bengals and Chiefs at Vikings, I'd guess this would have been opening week of the 1970 NFL season, on Sunday, Sep. 20, the night before ABC premiered "Monday Night Football" (Jets at Browns), because of the cigarette ads that were still on TV.

There is also a PSA for the American Lung Association, which was then the National Tuberculosis and Respiratory Disease Association in 1970,with the spinning Cross of Lorraine whizzing across the screen and the bongo like drum sound playing in the background.

Hard to believe that it was 50 years ago when all these jewels from Primetime 1970 all made their debut back in the days of real and free TV, way before the cable and digital industry went and took away all of that!on The CBS Network in Fall 1970, you had the debut of "THE MARY TYLER MOORE SHOW" that ran until 1977-then, there was "THE STOREFRONT LAWYERS" from executive producer Leonard Freeman ("HAWAII FIVE-O") which was later changed to "MEN AT LAW" during its mid season run, and there was "THE INTERNS", based the Columbia Pictures movies from the 1960with a cast headed by Broderick Crawford and future "MASH" co-star, Mike Ferrell. and ABC started Fall 1970 with "THE PARTRIDGE FAMILY", "MATT LINCOLN" starring former "BEN CASEY" actor Vince Edwards, the debut of Paramount TV's "THE ODD COUPLE", and other short-lived wonders like "THE IMMORTAL" starring Christopher George ("THE RAT PATROL") the "Highlander" of his day, plus "THE SILENT FORCE" and the short-lived "BAREFOOT IN THE PARK". then on NBC, you saw the debut of "FOUR IN ONE", which later became "THE NBC MYSTERY MOVIE" in the coming years- "NIGHT GALLERY" became a weekly NBC series after the NBC World Premiere TV pilot that aired in 1969, and the former star of Quinn Martin's "THE INVADERS", Roy Thinnes was "THE PSYCHIATRIST" from Universal Television (decades before they became a Comcast-owned property) but Fall 1970 was also a great place for Saturday Morning entertainment, as CBS led the way with "JOSIE AND THE PUSSYCATS" from Hanna-Barbera Productions, based on the Archie Comic Book series from Radio Comics, while Archie and the gang returned for another CBS season with "ARCHIE'S FUNHOUSE", while "THE HARLEM GLOBETROTTERS" debuted in their animated Hanna-Barbera cartoon series that was also produced in association with CBS. then there was "SABRINA AND THE GROOVY GOOLIES", the Filmation-produced series which "Sabrina The Teen Age Witch" starred in, after her debut on CBS's "THE ARCHIE COMEDY HOUR in Fall 1969, this time, with "The Groovy Goolies", who made their series debut in this hour long cartoon series- but you also had a new format that was introduced in CBS"s Saturday Morning lineup-the first of its kind, called "IN THE KNOW" that was hosted by the animated characters from "JOSIE AND THE PUSSYCATS" for the 1970-71 season. it was later changed to "IN THE NEWS" in Fall 1971- all, part of TV history, 50 years ago!!

That Dodge Demon commercial (52:59) stars Joe Higgins in his best known role as the Southern sheriff. That series of commercials inspired a country novelty hit that year - "The Sheriff of Boone County" by Kenny Price, and later on he and Higgins ended up together as cast members on Hee Haw.

I was an 11 yo growing up in L.A. that year and remember this stuff like last week. We also had KTLA Channel 5, KHJ 9, KTTV 11 and KCOP 13 plus a bunch of UHF channels. PBS was KCET 28 but that's the only one I remember. Cable, while available in New York, was not yet in the West. I think Orange County got it in '80. My favorite shows were Green Acres, Batman, Hawaii 5-0, Hogans Heroes, Laugh-In, Johnny Carson, Munsters, Beverly Hillbillies, Bewitched, Mission Impossible, Outer Limits, Streets of San Francisco, Mannix and I Dream of Jeannie.
