This video covers a couple unique items that Ko-ken has been making for some years now. They both contain similar features, with the main thing being the "free-turn" handle.
*** I apologize for the weird audio issues.
The part numbers are:
4711X for the 1/2" drive cross wrench
3715SLK for the 3/8" drive sliding T-handle
Thanks for watching.

I have been wanting one of those wheel braces since the first video you did on it. It perfectly show cases the lovely way Koken do things their way. Such a clever idea and so well executed

I’ve had the t-handle for some years and it’s excellent. The cross handle seems even nicer. If I used any 1/2” dr, I’d be all over it. Brilliant for mechanics.

Exactly! Not annoy your apartment neighbours and reduce the chance of strata banning you from working on your car.

Chris great to see these up close, I have a couple US made extensions in my amazon cart that have the double locking feature. Would you ever do a tool box tour style video? I think it would be a lot of good information, along with seeing how you setup all you're own stuff to be efficient. I picture you be able to do everything in a 26inch top box that most guy's need a epic style tool box to keep their tools in that they 'need'. BTW Chris a great channel I been subscribed to, (Texas?)Lone Star Mopars does tool haul style videos and has a great voice like a old radio DJ. He puts out a video most weekend mornings so its nice to watch those longer videos with his presentations before you do anything in the morning =)! Thank you!

Hi Doug. Double locking? Care to share a link? I may at some point do a tool box tour video if the urge strikes me. I have a feeling I'll just ramble on forever on one drawer for 20mins! Yup, I know that channel. I was there a few days ago. I just happened to come across a video he recently did on his Nepros haul, and yeah, he does have a good voice! Thanks!

The 3/8 T handle seems really interesting. Looks like it can be used as an extension, and having an extension with a collet for your hand to hold on to seems nice, never seen a collet on a 3/8. I wonder how the place where the anvil goes in would fair with abuse seeing as there is a hole in it. Both would be great in a car with a smaller ratchet for an emergency kit. You can shove a screw driver in there if you don't have the space where your working too.
@chriscas-ToolAficionado
@chriscas-ToolAficionado 3 года назад
Yeah, in a pinch, the 3/8 T-handle would work as an extension, but I wouldn't use it with say a 18" long breaker bar/ratchet trying to break free a stubborn fastener.
@Pauleh123
@Pauleh123 3 года назад
@@chriscas-ToolAficionado Yeah, I probably wouldn't either. But I could see it in that situation where you have a super long and crazy extension setup with a u joint trying to get something deep in an engine bay. You can use the collar to help stabilize the extension setup to reduce the wobbles with the u joint. I use a 1/4 cordless impact alot so I don't think I would worry too much about it. Not that I would buy it just for that, but as secondary use and another tool to add to your arsenal. Thanks for these awesome videos by the way. Going through alot of your video catalog looking for interesting tools to increase my productivity. I REALLY like the ko-ken stubby 3/8 with the 2 drive spots on it, might have to try that out. So many potential uses for it. I also commented on the twist ratchet video you have and I might try out the US PRO version of that to see how it is. My favorite power tool brand doesn't have a very good cordless ratchet, so that might be a good replacement instead of having to invest in a whole new tool line.

@@Pauleh123 Snap-on has one of those multi-purpose ratchets as well in 3/8 drive, and it's a Dual-80. Nepros is another one, but the square is only on the top/bottom (not on the end, like the Ko-ken and Snap-on do). Cordless ratchets are a complete game-changer. I also like using Tite-Reach/Ratchet extension tools as well. Awesome additions to your tool aresenal.
@Pauleh123
@Pauleh123 3 года назад
@@chriscas-ToolAficionado Tite Reach added to my wish list! I looked up the Snap-on version and their online catalog doesn't have a photo and has the wrong PN. It's titled there as a dual 80, but with only 36 teeth. Found a scanned catalog and found the correct PN to be FZ936A. Still titled as a dual 80 ratchet, but still described as only 36 teeth with a 10° swing arc! I found that 2 3/8 ratchets on their catalog are listed as dual 80, but have less then 80 teeth. Very confusing. 36 tooth is certainly am improvement over 24 tooth, so I think I will pick one of those up. It seems my idea of the perfect do it all 3/8 stubby doesn't exist quite yet. The Nepros looks awesome, but now that I've seen the 3 position ones I can't get it out of my head. Maybe I'll pick one up if I find the Snap-on frustrating enough.

@@Pauleh123 Just a heads-up on the Tite Reach stuff. I have their 1/4 drive "Professional" one. Despite the professional name, the build quality isn't quite up to snuff, IMO. It's still a very handy tool to have though, so I'll give them that. I have a old Blue-point chain drive wrench in 1/4 drive as well and that unit is built well. You may find it and other sizes in the used market. Mine is part # JWT1 . There's also larger, bulkier units that are impact rated. Those are offered by Snap-on, MAC/Facom/USAG. Merry is another manufacturer (Japanese) that makes their "Barrier Wrench". I could've sworn the one I handled in the Snap-on truck was a 80-tooth model, but I must've been dreaming. It's probably a matter of time before they update it.

Good eye. I don't have the tool in front of me, but if I recall correctly there is. You could if you had to, but be wary of overloading the joint if using it with, say a 18" breaker bar, and fighting a stubborn fastener.

can you tell a bit more about the locking adapter?
@chriscas-ToolAficionado
@chriscas-ToolAficionado 3 года назад
It's an adapter that you can fit onto the end of any extension. There's a set screw that you tighten to get the adapter to fit firmly. I can't remember the name of the original US manufacturer, but they are/were sold by many brands, even by Stahlwille. There are copies as well. Here's a Snap-on/Bluepoint branded one: shop.snapon.com/product/Extensions-Locking-(Set-Screw)%2C-Chrome-(Blue-Point)/3-8%22-Drive-Locking-Set-Screw-Extension-(Blue-Point)/YA525A

That's a good question. I've yet to pin-point the US manufacturer of these adapters. They are sold under a few brands, including European brands like Stahlwille. In the US, you can find them from Snap-on, MAC, and SK. Cornwell and Matco might be offering them as well.
