Just got a new one. Nice little mower. The turbo boost mode was energizing when it kicked in. Self propel can stick the rear wheels in forward rotation only. Have to kinda go back-forward& back motion and then they're free. Otherwise awesome
The instruction book that came with the Kobalt I just bought didn't say you could use a hose to clean it. They recommend brushing it off and using a scraper tool.
Yeah don't use a hose to wash it off because you don't want water to get into the electrical components. Just either use a leaf blower, a scraper tool, and treat the deck with some nonstick spray when dry to avoid grass sticking onto the deck.
Wow I was super confused as to why you were spraying the mower with water. I don't recommend that. You can blow it off or brush but please don't use water. Iv had my mower for 5 years now. Model KM1940 and just purchased 2 new batteries KB 440-06. Had to call kolbalt directly to order new batteries. But I do have a small yard. But I also cut my neighbors yard aswell so thats why I have 3 40v 4.0amp batteries. So yeah but I make and save money very quickly. So totally worth the investment. FYI my original 40v battery died over the winter, but still have the 20v battery for this season. So yeah. Batteries do degrade but they are still useful after all these years. Also the original charger still works but I did purchase a new one so im ready then that dies on me to.
Yes. I always remove the battery and of course, let it sit until next use, which is usually a week. Despite all the comments from people bitching about the manual, I've been washing it after every use for over 3 seasons now without a single problem.
im really happy with my purchase i got it for like 200 off and it was worth every penny.. the only thing i want to see is the battery last at the very least 3 or 4 years then it will be really worth it..
One thing to know is, although there is a 5 year replacement or refund warranty on this machine, once the 5 years is up you may not be able to get parts or repairs done. I have a Kobalt 80 volt mower with a bad control board that is not available. This is a $25 part that runs the whole machine. The rest of the mower is in perfect condition. Because of this Lowes and Kobalt have made this a throw away mower. So if part of the reason you bought this mower is to be more environmentally friendly then consider most of it may be land fill material at any time. My gas mowers have lasted up to 20 years and cost less. Not happy.
I’ve had mine for a couple of years. At first I was using for just trimming but now I’ve tried to mow my whole 1 acre lawn. The grass isn’t that long at all but the batteries only last 10-15 minutes now. And this is WITHOUT using the self-propel function. I had to mow 4 days in a row to get the whole thing done. Lol so I guess I’m in the market for a gas mower. If the batteries lasted longer I would love it.
They are expensive if I’m remembering correctly. I sold mine and got a Toro recycler. It works a lot better. I really want a rider, but can’t afford one though.
Be careful about rinsing for folks interested in the self propelled ones. I have the same generation for the last 3 or so years and the self propelled RWD gears don't like moisture or at least too much spray. Twice I got it too wet and it needed a day or two to dry out. There is a decal of caution on the underside about this. Happened twice and always mowed after a day or two of drying out. RWD also has a hill hold feature. I should do my own review as well lol I have just about every Kobalt 80v 40v or 24v unit haha
How about blade replacement ? do you have to get a Kobalt blade ? I've read where a Greenworks 21 that you can't find Blades or extra battery for love or money.
2AH Batteries. I've never timed them, but my ballpark figure is 30- 40 minutes. The mower has a feature which kicks up the blade speed when it encounters resistance which uses more power, so it all really depends on your lawn.
