I was watching your vince carter top 100 cause vince carter has same bday as i. Then found out about what happened and watched this was too upset to write it sunday. Nice video
Watching this you realize Kobe dunked on so many players. Most of them big men too one of the most underrated dunkers ppl don't talk about him much amongst the greatest dunkers but he had a great combination of power and finesse. He could go hard and just dunk over u and he had style with 360s, windmills, and dunk from impossible baseline angles where u would be like how tf he do that
To me, he's in the Top 10 Dunkers of all time because : NO other player had the QUALITY of VARIETY of dunks that he had...: - One footers - Two footers - On big men - On Wings - Wrong-footed - Wrong-handed - On the run - First Step - From a standstill - Alley oops - Open court - In the lane - Power - Finesse - Wraparounds I mean, Vince is the greatest, but even his are primarily two-footed...his one-footers are ok...'Nique is a two-footer, J-Rich the same.....MJ is off one or two, but even his variety isn't on Kobe's level....Same with Kemp....Lebron and Dr J are one-footers. T-Mac's his closest comp - he was a better athlete, but didn't. have Kobe's ferocity. Plus, his body coordination was SOOOOO good, he could dunk at the last minute....and I also think that he's faster and quicker than ANYONE on this list...he got to the rim QUICK.....he's also the ONLY two-footed dunker I've seen (maybe Vince?) that could jump and finish off of two feet differently : (A) He jumped Jordan/"Kiss-the-rim" style : so, if you are right-handed (switch for left), you plant with your left, step and lead with your right, and come from the side/behind with your right, leaning in with your body to guard against the defender. Most players dunk like this. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5Eu9SOYCBNU.html (B) He also jumped 'Nique style : you switch the start and finish legs, switch propels you more "up" than "in", your body is square to the basket, and - because your lead hand and foot match up - you get to the basket quicker; GREAT for jump-stop/hop dunks. J-Rich did this a lot too. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7Ju0mAzCLeA.html (1:25 is a great example of this!) His #8, pre-injury days were unbelievable. Theres not a sub 8-9 dunk in this compilation.
Maaaan this is big time, great great mixtape. Kobe is a tier 1 dunker up there in the elite group of dunkers, he's got creativity and most importantly he's got legendary poster dunks. Something that some of the best dunkers quite lack sometimes. A perfect combination of hangtime and power.
RIP to one of the greatest athletes to ever live. No one really dies if the people who they touched continue to spread their influence and legacy. Love you Kobe.
Yupp, alley oop 360 contact dunk. I thought you could only do this in video games, watch basketball for 20years never saw a play like that again. Kobe 8 dunked on everyone.
Number 90 was one of the best dunk with a after dance! Mamba Forever. RIP Mamba, Baby Mamba and the other friends and families who lost their lives on 1/26/2020. 9 gone and the world is still grieving for them and the others in the pandemic of 2020! My heart is always there with them! Never met them but they were like family for me!
I agree. MJ's vertical was 46 inches (everyone says 48 but I saw a medical journal from North Carolina in 1982 where they measured his vertical at 46") and Kobe's was probably 40" in his prime. So Kobe was no slouch when it came to jumping, just not as good as MJ. But his in-game dunks (particularly his dunks in traffic) are quite a bit more entertaining than MJ's. They're way more ferocious. Jordan never really cocked it back way behind his head and slammed it down like he was trying to murder the rim. I think that's the entire difference really. Kobe's in game dunks were just way more ferocious and angry, like he was trying to tear the rim off the basket, which make them more fun to watch. Jordan never threw it down with ferocity. He was more about grace. MJ's dunk contest dunks and fast break dunks blow Kobe's out of the water, because his superior vertical and flexibility in the air created such a graceful illusion of flight. Kobe's facial dunks were way better though, since he looked like he was trying to murder the defender, the defender's family, and the rim.
When you consider the catalog of dunks, the leaping ability, athleticism. physicality, versatility, and ferocity, it is hard to place anyone AHEAD of the mamba as a dunker
Love Shaq’s OOP to Kobe 2:54 Brian Shaw and Kobe was a great backcourt. And #5 at 5:49 is my favorite Kobe Dunk of all time for how reckless it was. Twolves were done-done after that
WOW....VINCE WHO..AND MICHAEL WHOO?....DAM WATCHING THIS AND SEEN SOME UNSEEN DUNKS I HAVENT SEEN BEFORE MAKES ME RE THINK MY TOP 5 DUNKERS...WOOOWWW...I SURRENDER, BEST SINGLE PLAYER DUNK MIX COUNTDOWN EVER...HOLY SHHIT😰😰😰😰😰😰😰
Probably a top 5 NBA in-game dunker of all time. Got a lot of competition though- Carter, MJ, Dominique, LeBron, Kemp, Iguodala, Wade, Amare, in a few more years it will be fair to include Westbrook, Griffin, D. Jordan to that top tier...
TBF…a lot of these guys have better “Top-level” dunks…by that I mean that it’s an athletic/vertical achievement…Kobe didn’t have the best vertical….but his variety of dunks was unmatched….and it’s weird…but almost every shot blocker challenged him, and they were quickly undone…I can’t remember that many times where he got stuffed at the rim…
I remember reading this stat that testifies of Kobe's greatness and consistency more than anything else about him: He's the ONLY player in NBA history to score 40 or more points at least once against EVERY TEAM in the NBA! Pastor, you can collect the offering now. Church service is over!
I remember seeing #18 at 4:55 mark during the playoffs and literally thinking to myself "I have never EVER seen a guard post up in the lane and receive an "AND-1" alley oop and complete it with power!" The degree of difficulty can't be measured....unbelievable!
Kobe shook the skeletal out of Yao Ming and flushed it! The Mamba was so dangerous, feared and unpredictable.... it's as if the universe gave Kobe allowance for wiggle room! Just like a 🐍...sense, hiss, slither and strike, real quick! 🐐 #8, #24, #2 ❤ ❤ 🙏
The funny thing is they never show the best in game dunk I saw him do his rookie year he took off just inside the freethrow line. I've never seen the dunk get replayed since it was first on Sports center.
I’m surprised his wrist never gave in....it’s like they liked the pain.....😇😇😇 REST IN PEACE ✌️ HOPE URE ENJOYING UNLIMITED BASKETBALL TIME WITH UR LITTLE GIRL!
