lance Kelley those are the ones that stick with me the most. Especially 2003. The epic 9 straight 40pt streak, gaining 15lbs muscle, 12 threes, dunking over Yao, shooting only 8 times against the Kings on national tv to prove a point lmao etc..
Len Walker True! It’s just the 2003 regular season it felt like Kobe really reached into his bag of talent. Phil pulled the reigns off Kobe, and allowed him to really show the world his unbelievable talent
hussein Ahmed very true Shaq was out of the lineup and he made the infamous “hurt on company time heal on company time” quote so he was out letting Kobe showcasing his whole offensive arsenal
Len Walker exactly!! Not many people know that. Kobe could’ve easily averaged 28-32ppg and 6-7apg 2001-2004, but we played through Shaq. Also, the triangle offense limited Kobe from making decisions with the ball. Decisions were predicated off reads.
Kobe’s quick release is nothing to be played wit . He was the most skilled scorer ever . Right hand ,left hand , from 3 , mid range , dunks , post moves and floaters he had it all .
stashouse617 i don't argue/debate the GOAT discussion cause it's all opinionated...i deal with facts...& yes KOBE is the most skilled player to ever play the game
jonathan fanfan agreed...Kobe right up there with 1 of his teachers...Hakeem... Greatest/MostSkilled BigMan we will ever see, Hakeems' skillset by far greater than most guards
I remember watching him once outscore my Mavs through 3 quarters. Never in my life have I ever been more scared of a player than Kobe Bryant! I used to scream for triple teams because I 'd rather any one of his teammates shoot an open layup than have Kobe take a tough contested two pointer. He's the best offensive player the Mavs ever faced in my time as a fan going back to 2002.
Kabir Bariana Yeah he could have easily scored more if he wanted to, he could have been the only player in NBA history to out score his opponent through out the entire game. I could believe it
That team was a great defensive team too!! I remember being pissed cause he could’ve went for the Lakers record that game but he sat.... fast forward shortly after he gives the Raptors 81🤦🏾♂️
That narrative is one of the funniest ones I have ever heard. This instantly, to me, makes him an overrated player. Harden isn’t ANYWHERE NEAR prime Kobe in terms of defense OR scoring, which is Hardens strength. Harden doesn’t have even one NBA all defensive team nomination, not even 3rd. Kobe is tied for the most NBA All Defensive teams in NBA history with 12. 9 first team, 3 second team. Harden isn’t as explosive or deadly as Kobe in terms of scoring. Hahaha 😂 “Harden is as good as a prime Kobe” Shit is hilarious.
Harden his FG% is maybe a little less then Kobe. Jordan tops them bove with much better FG% and avarage more points. Harden is really a ball hugger. Maybe pass a little more and make less bad shots so his FG% becomes better, other team players score more and team becomes better.
harden is a fraud...his go to move is a travel by 2 full steps beyond what is legal...on a sidenote trump supporters are the reason people are dying and that there wont be any more sports until at least 2021...thanks for fucking up the world retards...next election do civilization a favor and abstain
You can definitely see the difference between Jordan and Kobe's game after watching the goat szn's back to back, Kobe uses the three a lot more, and his ball handling to get open, Jordan uses his quickness more, has more control with the one hand palm. Defense a little more grabby with Jordan. Kobe more bendy flexible like a snake. Jordan like a cat with some bounce. They're both awesome!
@@TheSands83ya but the defenders Kobe had to score on were infinitely more tough on those wings. MJ was more athletic which is saying a lot, Kobe was a blue chip athlete, MJ def top 2-3 all time nba athlete. Kobe was more skilled overall.
Don't wanna be a troll but 35 points on 450 FG%. Jordan scored 35 points a game on 535 FG%, do the math. There is not one season Kobe had above 500% FG, most slightly above 400%. Almost all Jordan his seasons were 500 + FG% and almost all 30+ points a game. 35 points, 33, 31, 37. These kinds avarage a game with much higher FG%.
@@hielogogo9109 you do realize 35 points per game on 450 FG% is still outstanding for a shooting guard right? You just picked the GOAT to compare him to so of course he came up short in some way. Kobe was uncontrollable like mans said, and the best player in the world at the time.
@@Balal8281 Yeah sure he was great but his FG% could have been a little better. His assists this year was also not that great. I think a Magic Johnson in 1986 who scored more then 23 points a game over 525% FG and more then 12 assist a game is more affective in a team. Less shooting and still more then 23 points and 12 assists also make more then 24 extra team points. MJ had in avarage also about 0.7 assists more then Kobe. And then prime MJ years for example the 35 points a game season he also had about 1.5 assist more a game then Kobe. Kobe was great but less effective and in my opinion also then Magic. And Shaq was as good as Kobe, a little less points a game but allot more rebounds a game. Don't wanna act like a troll or something but i just don't like it when there saying Kobe was for example better then MJ, it's clearly nonsense. And individuele i think MJ, Magic and Bird were more effective for there team then Kobe.
@mike dollars Don't know if Kobe was less effective then Lebron. My opinion he was better and more skilled then Lebron. They don't call Lebron "Leflop" for nothing.
The amazing thing is in most of these clips he's like really well defended, hand in the face and everything. Yet he still drains every shot pure net... Crazy
Compare to mj who played with midget guards with no bag at all lol thats why kobe is way better ! Look at those shots ! Some of the moves mj never done it !
Kobe Bryant is the most pure "skilled" basketball player I have seen in my lifetime. He is a prime example of a "complete basketball player" He could shoot effectively from the post, mid-range, and snipe you from 3pt land. In addition he had a quick first step, could easily split a double with his elite ball handling skills which would lead to either a finish at the rim or a mid-range pullup. His footwork was impeccable and he could shoot over either shoulder with his back to the basket and could make contested jump shots. The difference between him and Jordan outside of athleticism was 3-pt shooting, range, and ballhandling. #RIPKOBE #TBE
prime to prime . kobe was a much better long range shooter than mj, slightlhy better ball handler but mj was stronger , faster, jumped higher and had a better shoot sélection. between these 2, pick your poison
@@gangstadu94 Yup that's why I pick Kobe. MJ is more accomplished hence why he is the GOAT why Kobe is more skilled and has 5 rings he is TBE. There is a difference between Greatest and "Best"
@@koolkai4299 i pick MJ cause he dit it without a dominant big man so he had to Carry the load offensively his whole Carreer. he was doubleteamed or almost tripleteamed and he dit it anyway. can you imagine à prime mj with shaq playing together, they would have raped the league and there is no way mj lost to the pistons team in 03 with shaq. no wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy. he was smarter than kobe who sometimes shoot too damn much. as great as he was he never shot more than 45% in a season. from 84 to 93 mj is about 7 or 8: higher or even more in the playoffs. that dude was Smart. i pick MJ by a small margin but i can understand your choice bro cause stats dont tell the whole story but i saw their careers and they both played to kill as Said my man BOOSIE hahahahahahah
@@gangstadu94 Kobe never shot more than 45% for a season because he was a better 3point shooter and attempted way more 3s than Jordan ever took. Also the 2004 Pistons are the greatest defensive team in NBA history so to downplay them shows a lack of basketball acumen.
@@koolkai4299 bro i saw their both carreers and i gave kobe his props . he was a genius to me for real but come on . who told him to shoot that much and to take those so difficult shoots. the triangle was made for this, mj is not god to me. im just tryin to be factual, im just sayin a prime mj is superior to kobe also cause he has a better shot sélection. a prime mj playin with a dominant big man like shaq would have just been unreal
Mike is GOAT but what we see here is without a doubt the most skilled offensive basketball player ever. This is why actual hoopers put Kobe over Lebron. The footwork, coordination, reaction time, balance, focus, and infinity move arsenal with both left and right hand.
Kobe isn’t even the most skilled. It’s MJ. Watch in depth breakdown of MJ’s game on Pure Sweat basketball. MJ’s fundamentals get overshadowed by his once in a generation athleticism
Edgel Gabriel you see who you had to bring up to knock Kobe? Just think about who you brought up. Lebron is definitely a top 5 if not, arguably the best player to play the game in many eyes. Let that sink in bro.
Edgel Gabriel yeah lebron is better in my opinion, but kobe is definitely up there. For you to bring up lebron to knock Kobes greatness is crazy says a lot, when you consider where lebron ranks. It says there is only select few of players that you can compare to kobe.
He is the most skilled player in nba history , but mj is the best but make no mistake Kobe had more skills then mj I know ppl think it’s blasphemy but I’m not saying his better I’m saying he has more skills. His footwork was better his 3pt his free throw. Etc.. but mj was better. We could agree or disagree but that’s how I see it. Kobe went a made sure to learn skills from every legend and dissect it and mastered it
The one Above all I’d say they are equal in skill. Neither is more skilled in so many more aspects than the other. Yeah Michael was better, but their skills is about equal. The only things I could say Kobe had over Jordan, was 3pt shooting and footwork. Their free throws were super similar in the playoffs and regular season.
Taking nothing away from Curry but he has Klay and Dray to draw defenders. Kobe dealt with triple teams from the PRIME mid 2000s Pistons defense and still make the 3.
m Khan get out of my comments. He was traded, he can’t help that and it he could’ve played for the lakers and been bad but he worked his butt off to become a five time champion. He’s a legend period
@m Khan lucky Kobe play for winning team? wtf r u talking about.. 96 to 99 Lakers with Shaq and Kobe is trash, they just eager to win thats why they became champion at 00, 01 and 02.. Kobe gave a lot for winning u dont know nothing.. lol..
@Trzn 1) Shaq doesn't get rings w/o Kobe. The west was stacked with elite bigs that gave Shaq all he could handle; pay attention to who led the Lakers in the western playoff series 2) Their beef had just as much to do with Shaq's laziness as Kobe's stubbornness 3) "He got drafted by a great team" were Van Exel or Eddie Jones on the threepeat teams? Nope, they were long gone 4) Kobe averaged 27/6/6 in 04-05 while playing with Chris Mihm, Jumaine Jones and Caron Butler 5) Pau doesn't arrive till 07-08, which means Kobe had nobody besides Odom & Luke Walton for three of his prime seasons 6) Nash barely played for the Lakers and Howard was hampered by back problems in the year Kobe tore the achilles (his last prime year) Kobe had his flaws, but you're criminally underrating an all-time perimeter player and champion.
@@mowglie628 very narrow minded theres a lot of factors that should be considered when evaluating FG's, not just primarily efg or statistics alone. However, based off your response, it doesn't seem there's much hope in reaching a settlement so I'd rather not type out something massive. It's unlikely you'll shift and expand your thinking. At least you understood how efg was calculated though
Kobe was taking no prisoners this year and this was his 10th season in the league putting up 35 a game. 🤦🏾♂️ Truly unguardable especially this year. Imagine if the Lakers weren’t up by 30 in that Dallas game, that would’ve been two 80 point games in one season. Can’t nobody score like Kobe. The GOAT. 💜💛
Watching this man’s highlights does not do him justice versus watching him in an actual game where he gets hot and you just cannot absolutely cannot stop him.
What makes this season so impressive and why he deserved the MVP, he was the ONLY one on that team and the league knew it, the sole goal for every NBA team was to stop Kobe, months and weeks to plan and they still couldn’t stop him, opponents were absolutely helpless, he was the most dominant player on the planet for years, he average 43 a points a game in the month of January, second best total in NBA history. He has the second most 40 point games in a season in NBA history. An 81 point game, that season over 200 teams failed to hit that mark that year(insanity) He is the only player in NBA history to average over 35 all defense first team. I keep hearing how he was never dominant or the single best player on the planet, ever; I keep hearing how he is top 15 but no higher? 😂 children say the darnedest things. Watch the tape and ask the players that played against him, Nash had a better record, but he also had a better team. Kobe’s 2005-2006 season is probably the best we’ve seen since Jordan’s 86-87 season.
I been watchin almost anything Kobe related for at least 6 months before his death im still fucked up bout that.. But this shit is 100. They need to quit disrespecting the performance of this basketball legend to make numbers that have no color look good.. If you really watched this man you would have nothing but respect.
Kobe was in Super Saiyan mode that whole season. I remember watching every game that year and waiting to see what insanity he was going to do. Legend!!!!
I took MYSELF & My POPS to our First LAKERS Game on March of 2006, It Was KOBE BRYANT Against The SPURS!!! KOBE Dropped 43 LIKE BUTTER & Still Lost, WE STILL ALL GOT TACOS BECAUSE KOBE HELD THE SPURS UNDER 100pnts, IT WAS EPIC!!! THANK YOU KOBE BRYANT THE GOAT!!!! LETZ GO LAKERS 2K20!!!🏆🙏🕊🎉🎊🍾
This was probably the greatest offensive season ever when you adjust the pace of the NBA and compare it to other years. For example, when Kobe scored 35 points a game that year, the pace of the NBA was much slower than when Jordan average 37 points or when Wilt averaged 50 or Harden putting up 36 last year. I think Kobe personally mastered his game in 2007 and from 2007 to 2012 he kept adding to his footwork packages but 2005-2006 was Kobe at his best. He bulked up to 220 pounds during the off-season and made it his goal to put the Lakers in the playoffs off the strength of his back. That year he terrorized the NBA like how the COVID-19 is wreaking havoc on the human population.
@Quincy "This was probably [the greatest] offensive season [ever]" RIP to Kobe. But in the words of Chris Broussard: "C'mon man, STOP IT!!" You can take that "pace" argument and throw it right in the garbage where it belongs. Because when the league wide pace was at 100.6 ppg in '89, MJ avg'd 32ppg. And when the league wide pace dropped to 96.8 ppg in '93, he STILL avg'd 32ppg! So your "pace" argument has NO MERIT to it whatsoever. Besides, there's a BIG DIFFERENCE between their respective 35ppg seasons. And here are some of the MAJOR differences: FG%: MJ 54.1 FG% > Kobe 45.2 FG% Games with 4+ steals: MJ 31 (152 steals) > Kobe 10 (47 steals) Games with 2+ blocks: MJ 100 > Kobe 6 Case in point: it's not the same. There's levels to this...
Never get over you Kobe. You're always at the top of your game. Kobe such an amazing player, you deserve so much more than they are giving you. You're well worst the wait. Love you Kobe and I don't care what anybody says about you - you're the 1st GOAT of the NBA. Thank you for sharing, please keep them Kobie's babies coming, they are so precious to us and we enjoy every minute of seeing Kobe play. Thank you again Maxamillion711.
If you notice, when top players are the ages of 27-30 and not injured, there’s really nothing you can do to stop them, just look at Kobe, MJ, LeBron, Curry, Durant, Magic, Bird, Shaq, Olajuwon, Isiah, etc, etc. I call that their “absolute prime” because their physical game is very high along with their mental game at the same time. Just go back and look at these players and others did during those years.
Each 1 Teach 1 it’s up for debate. Jordan has a bigger frame and hands and used the triangle efficiently. Kobe has better handles better 3pt shooter and is a loose cannon but will kill you
Each 1 Teach 1 studied Jordan of course. But he perfected Jordan’s moves basically and with some improved ball handling. Jordan was better all around but offensively I think Kobe would give MJ a run for his money. How can you defend someone who stole your moves and enhanced them?
I can't believe this guy's post footwork + defensive skill at the 2 guard. I forgot how smooth his handle was during the clutch moments of the 4th. Man was $$$.
I believe he had something to prove after the legal bs he was never as marketable as Jordan so they never adored him. But I believe this season took a lot out of him he had more great seasons after this but this took a toll on him. Glad I was able to witness it r.i.p Kobe tru legend
He deserved the MVP that season. The 81 point game alone should have earned him the award. This was his absolute prime. Maturity came later but athletically, he was unstoppable.
Took me over a whole hour and a half, to get through this 44 minute montage.. of Kobe's 05-06 GOAT SZN. Replayed so many of these highlights, countless times. This was the greatest individual season, I've ever witnessed. In my going on 36 years of living on this earth. For an entire 82 game stretch, and 7 playoff games. Kobe literally imposed his will, on every opposing team. Now did they win 60 games that season, or even made it out the 1st round of the playoffs? No. But if you take Kobe off this 2005-2006 iteration of the Lakers.. they're not winning no more than 20 games. Come on, they had my boy Smush Parker starting for them at point guard, lol. It was so many games throughout that season, when I was like.. "This is gonna be a tough matchup for the Lakers tonight. I hope my boy Smush doesn't play like hot garbage tonight. And is atleast serviceable." Naw like forreal guys. I was nervous every Lakers game, that Smush was going to embarrass himself that night (he was one of my faves at that time). 45-50 Kobe points later. And they've secured another victory, over a significantly better team. Never seen anything like it, over that long period of time. Kobe's will, with supreme skill. Was something that even the world's best basketball ball league couldn't match, during that particular season. Man. If Kwame did not rotate off of Timmy Thomas to the paint -- up by 3 mind you -- to stop a probing Steve Nash (Tim Thomas hit the game tying 3 that forced OT.. when LA was up 3 games to 2, against the 2nd seed Suns).. we'll never know how even greater, this season could've been for Kobe Bean Bryant. Forget GOAT SZN Maxamillion.. this was GOD season. Btw.. what more does a man have to do, to win MVP? 35 ppg, plus .500 record, averaged over 40 ppg for the month of January. With Smush Parker as your starting point guard, and Kwame Kirkpatrick, I mean Brown as your starting center. If that doesn't prove you're the most valuable player.. I don't know what does.
100% FACTS!!! Supersaiyan god mode for Kobe. This is the Apex basketball player ever imo. He was unguardable this year and this version of Kobe, had freaking Kwame Brown just done his job, would have gone deep into the playoffs if they could have freaking guarded Tim freaking Thomas. Ugh dammit Kwame! Kobe still the GOAT.
@@Ronald-xt6xe 2001 Nba Finals. Kobe Braynt = 24-ppg FG-41% Guarded by Eric Snow . Shaquille O"Neal = 33-ppg FG-57% Guarded by 4x DPOY Dikembe Mutombo. JORDAN was Guarded by Defensive Player of Year in the Playoffs several times. Dennis Rodman - 2x DPOY. Sidney Moncrief - 1x DPOY. Alvin Robertson - 1x DPOY. Gary Payton - 1x DPOY. MJ better than Kobe.
Not one season above 500% FG. This season 450% FG. MJ 35 points a game on 535% FG. And almost all seasons 500+ FG% with 30+ points a game. Do the math. Kobe was great but also a ball hugger. Kobe shot allot more to get higher scores. James Harden does that now also.
@@russell9411 he didn't shot that much 3s in those days. In the end it's not relevant, all the scores are in the end FG. And MJ developed his 3 points and became in the end around 30% like Kobe. MJ shot 6, 3 pointers in the 92 finals against the trail blazers. He shot the 3 when it counted.
This man was disrespected until the day he died by espn and fox sports. Talking about he might be top 10 and he's not top 5. Blah blah blah. But they have lebron there. Come on man
My top 5 are Lebron, MJ, Kobe, Shaq and KD. These 5 players are so good they can dominate any era of basketball. I judge them based off individual skills, not whether the media wants to hand them an mvp or if they were lucky enough to play on a championship contender and win it all. A lot of people will hate the shit out of this list but championships and mvps don’t prove how good a player is. A player’s skillsets do.
The greatest, he is the greatest, NBA did not give him 2 dererved MVP when he was the best. Mj knows about it!. This incredible and brilliant player they tried to eclipse...Rip Kobe Bryant!
