That is extremely dark and the primary reason I returned the color version. I just don’t get the fanfare. All to see book covers in color and highlight with a few different colors? I guess if you read comics it’s worth it, but that screen is simply pitch black. Even indoors you gotta juice up the screen almost full brightness, and that’ll eventually wear on the battery. Thank you for comparing the Libra Color to an older Sony. That helps me personally, as I _was_ considering upgrading from a Sony PRS-T1. Hopefully Kobo will release a new Libra BW, as I like that form factor. (btw, you might want to disable auto white balance in future videos)

This was the main reason I returned both the clara and libra colour. Outdoor readability for Kaleido 3 screens are just too bad in my opinion. Using them outside feels like I went back 15 years in terms of eink screen innovations. For this reason it’s wise to buy Kaleido 3 devices with screen size >=8 inches because anyway you are going to read it indoors. And also the graphic novels would look far better on a bigger screen

This kind of stopped my impulsiveness to buy the Libra Colour. I’ve had issues with Kindle screens (both Oasis 3 and PW5) and thought the grass is greener with Kobo Colour readers. I am now more inclined to get the Clara BW with a Carta 1300.
