Can i use this instead of my remote? Do i need some sort of receiver or hub? Can i use this remote have a touchpad? Can i use tge touchpad with my smart tv?
You could also just use HDMI-CEC, almost every TV supports it these days, and you wont need to buy anything. It will just work with the regular TV remote, after you enable HDMI-CEC in the TV settings. If you dont find anything like HDMI-CEC in the TV settings, then it could be that it has a different name, best way to find out is by Googling the TV brand with HDMI-CEC. For example, Samsung calls it Anynet+, Philips calls it EasyLink, etc.
On a HDHomerun unit, can Kodi be used to watch live TV/OTA on a unused tuner with the MyHD/MDP-130 remote and switch between channels or does Kodi require a compatible remote control setup? My system is quite ancient, AMD Sempron, the aforementioned MDP-130/w remote, an HDHR4-US2 and the Cliff Watson EPG Project scheduling and recording suite. Recordings are played through the MyHD interface currently but when ATSC 3.0/4K over-the-air comes out the MDP-130 is going to be obsolete anyhow. I'm just trying to get myself prepared for that day, swap the Sempron for a triple or quad AM3 processor. I hope, like their current units, Silicondust will keep XP compatibility [or Linux as an alt] so I won't have to pay to upgrade that machine's OS. There's always my old student copy of XP, but its only 32 bit, but needs no product key. Thank You ahead of time for whatever answers. :-)
This is interesting for what it is, IR, but having used RF, I would never want to go back to requiring LoS like IR does. I found a very similar minimal remote on eBay for $5. It even has one IR button to turn the TV on and off if needed, although my TV turns itself on and off when it detects a signal so I rarely use it.
Ok, i know this is sort of off topic for this video, but i wanted to ask you for help, I'm trying to setup 2 instances of octopi on my pi3 so i can run both my printers off one pi.... i know it can be done but i cant find a video anywhere about it on the RU-vids, Thats why i come to you. If you can get this to work and make a video about it i dare say you will be the first on RU-vid.... I think that it may be a good thing for you and the community now that alot of people with a 3d printer seem to be getting 2nd and 3rd printers..... its a disease lol...... anyway let me know if you can help with this one mate
I will add this idea to my list. It's getting pretty long though so I can't guarantee a time frame. It's a great idea though as controlling 2 from one pi would make the interface simpler :)
