Hello! For those of you curious about whether or not this is similar to their Silky Moist Foundation, here is a response from Koh Gen Do when I posted the question to them: "The Gloss Film is similar to the Silky Moist since they are both powder foundations in the refillable pan. Unlike the Silky Moist, the Gloss Film Foundation has a unique powder called Gloss Film Powder created in Japan for 5 skin-perfecting properties: long wear, luster, color correction, smoothness and water-resistance. You'll notice the powder really adheres to the skin, so it doesn't slip and slide during wear." Hope that helps!

Hi Michele, that sounds a bit weired because a blogpost by Rachel from The Beauty Professor reviewed the Maifanshi Silky Moist Powder in 2015 and the official details, courtesy of Beautylish, she mentioned were amongst other: --> Gloss Film Powder delivers 5 functions of skin perfection properties: High Adhesion for easy application and long wear, Luster, Skin Color Correction, Helps Prevent White Casts and Double Water-Repellent Coating www.beautyprofessor.net/2015/08/koh-gen-do-maifanshi-silky-moist.html I am confused this is pretty similar if you ask me ;-) Nevertheless I am curious trying one of them :-)

I really appreciate that you were willing to do a half-face test. It's SO much better than two photos of full-face with/without the base. I also appreciate that you tried two different application methods. I ordered the foundation based on your review :)

Wow I’m so impressed with the blur effect this foundation gives ! I love Koh Gen Do, I been using their cleansing water and their tonic. And the base really brightens your complexion, too bad it showed dry patches.

Wow, that looks beautiful and flawless! I might get some for myself. Although you did zoom in, from my point of view the primer side looked amazing, but now I’m listening to your final comments I think I’ll skip the primer. Thanks so much for reviewing this. It looks so beautiful on you! Koh Gen Doh is one of the brands that have intrigued me but one that I find I pass by in favor of more familiar brands. I am looking for a nice powder foundation as my skin is oily and I like lighter bb creams and tinted spfs for liquid products. This may be an excellent finishing step.

It appears to be available at Nordstrom! Doesn't state Foundation but it sounds like the product you've just reviewed. Recently I've also purchased their cushion foundation from Beautylish and love that one also. Sonia G's Face One brush will be great with this powder foundation!

It sits beautiful on your lovely skin! I’m interested to know if you continued with dermaplaning? I love it! It makes my skin look very glossy especially when using cream blush and highlighter! Yay!

I have continued with dermaplaning! I don't do it very often, and I'm concentrating it only on my cheek area. I've stopped doing along my jawline because I have a bit of texture there and it was making it worse. But I do love cleaning up around my eyebrow/hairline area!

Michele Wang awesome! I can see your cheeks look glowing and reflective if that makes sense. Occasionally I DO IT EVERYWHERE lol. And I don’t have to exfoliate as much. Afterwards I use a Sisley mask and it the results last quite a while! ❤️

Interesting review! I've not yet tried anything from Koh Gen Do, but whenever I see their products online I actually think about you and how much you enjoy them, esp. the spa water. Might give that one a go, but in terms of power foundation, probably going to stay loyal to my Zuii Flora, as I was saying recently. :-) No talc, and extremely good performance on me at least, despite being a natural product (...those often tend to not perform too well). Looking forward to more vids :-)

Thank you for a check in with natural lighting! I just got the aqua Foundation in the VIB sale and love it!! Only used it today but all good things for a possible (almost) daily use. It feels breathable. Does the powder feel heavier than the liquid? Have you tried the Guerlain meteorites?

Hi Michele I have an idea for you ( don’t think you’ve done this before). I am a foundation freak as I think a lot of us are and a series on foundation brands and your opinions of them way after the initial review would be of great interest to me. My thought is one video per brand where you highlight 5 or so and not necessarily your favorites but perhaps the most well known. I think it would be important that they’re also still available. That’s it! Love your channel.

am surprising how you doesnt like the base at least on camera your skin look so soft better 100 times than the other side - okay do other try by mois. and wait for 10 mins. let say and then apply the base and wait for 5 mins. finally puff by using brush better than sponge and give us your final thought

I am waiting for the Kett powder foundation to be delivered and can''t wait to try it. I will have to try this one too! I like powder foundations, but haven't really tried them much lately because my skin is dry so I can't wait to try this one too! The only powder foundation that I've liked in the past 10 years is the Laura Geller Balance, Brighten and Glow and that's because of the luminosity the 'Glow' provides in that foundation; it is also a lighter coverage product (I can layer it up to med coverage-which I prefer to full coverage). This foundation looks very nice on you! I wonder how the Tatcha Silk Canvas primer would look under it? How would you compare the Koh Gen Do to the Kett powder? Thanks for the review!!

I love your reviews & recommendations!! But, I must say, sometimes I think they shouldn't discontinue a product! I am still so sad they stopped making the Koh Gen Doh Snowy Pink Powder!! Thank you for the review! I love the original Koh Gen Do aqua foundation too, but did you see they "redesigned" it? I was wondering why it was sold out on most websites. Now it has "increased coverage, radiance, hydration and longevity" according to their website. I'm intrigued 😵

I just want to say "THANK YOU" for saying Kogendo correctly. Every other RU-vidr says it wrong. It's Japanese. Ko-GEN-Doh it's a hard "g" sound. End of PSA.

I understand. It's also the ShiSEIdo people that kill me too. There is no SHAY in Japanese. It's ShiSEIdo. I think the people at the beauty counter don't know the difference either and are mispronouncing it as well. I speak Japanese and it drives me crazy. Then again I say karaoke as ka-rah-oh-kay. Arara!

I would choose the Koh Gen Do. The Kett coverage is much higher, and while it looks great on camera, it's a little heavy for me and regular daily use. The KGD is much more weightless and blurring, as opposed to covering. Hope that helps!!

The Kett has much more coverage. All in all i prefer the KGD. It’s more of an everyday product for me with the lighter more natural coverage.

I purchased this gloss powder … it’s ok just don’t use the sponge it comes with and absolutely don’t swipe the sponge on your face!!! It’s make be look like I put Halloween silicone on my face then powdered that area. So far the brush is the only application that works for me

Michelle, Cle de Peau or Sublimage ... help me choose based on your experience. I have also dry skin but more red than yours in patches. So far I loved Cle d Peau.on you. And I think you did a Sublimage review already.... but just wondering ...from those 2 which was your beloved? Thank you¡!

Hi Alma - if I had to choose, I'd go for CDP because the finish is more radiant. The Sublimage finish is a bit more natural/skin with less radiance.

I haven't tried the one in the red tube. I've been tempted, but just kept getting the Aqua since I knew it worked. Will have to give that a shot one day soon.

I ordered both foundation samples (aqua and moisture) from KGD website. Tried the moisture foundation during Minnesota winter, i.e. dry skin dry air dry everything!, and I did not like it. It didn't sit anywhere near as imperceptibly on my skin as my favorite Chanel Sublimage foundation. When building up the KGD moisture foundation, it got cakey fast imo (I prefer, at most, medium coverage). I'm waiting to try the aqua during summer when my skin is normal combo (not dry).
