We go through a full repair where we show removal, diagnosis and repair of Kohler Command Pro 25hp on Dixon zero turn mower
Normally units will not start, will surge or sputter while running if the carburetor is the issue. If you unit will not start, is low on power, or if it starts it will not stay running you will want to watch this easy to follow tutorial to find out if the problem is the carburetor or something else.
The most common symptoms we see with this problem are a mower will not start, starts then dies, if it starts it will not stay running long. Dies out after starting or runs poorly with low power. Mower bogs down when under a load or runs poorly

Notice the diagnostic procedure he goes through at the beginning of this video. Unbelievable. Can you imagine working as this guy’s assistant in his shop? Think about how much you could learn. These are great videos.

Great information I could hear the wooshing sound. I helped a contractor repair his guys things. He kept saying he had no idea how bad off they were. Told him he should know, it’s his money. Thanks again.

Wow a Dixon! My first Zero Turn was Dixon now they scare me to death. That one is a pretty decent one however.

Haha, that is for sure! One of the brands I am just about to say we are done with, they just are so old and can't get parts and made like junk. This one is definitely decent and they make a few good models but most are not

I have that same engine on a Craftsman GT5000 I rescued. It had been sitting outside for quite a while. The carb wasn’t rebuildable, full of rust. The aftermarket carb wouldn’t idle right, or come up to full power. I ended up taking all the jets out of the original and putting them in the new carb and it runs great.

Sometimes you have to do some strange stuff depending on the carburetor and company. I am surprised the carburetor shown installed here had such good reviews, I guess he picked a good aftermarket. Glad you got it back going, do what you got to do for sure. Sometimes taking a change when the alternative is $600 is worth it and pays off

I noticed the Continental link in the description and checked out the Amazon reviews. Very high for fuel line. Thx for mentioning your experience with it in the video, as I’m currently researching fuel lines to get the best I can find.

I have one of these engines on my everyday mower. Craftsman GS6500. Several years ago, I had carb trouble with mine. It was just dirty, but that little pump diaphragm was crispy. I read somehwere that you could cut the diaphragm out and cap the lines going to it. It still works fine. The only thing that I noticed is that when I turn the PTO on, I need to pull the choke out for a split second or else the engine struggles or dies. Thats the only thing I have noticed since.

Interesting, never heard of that being done but thanks for sharing the knowledge!

I have the same engine on my mower. The #1 head gasket was leaking oil between the head, and block. I changed both head gaskets, plus had a valve job on both heads. I was surprised, the engine runs much better now. It still smokes some, but I think the rings are bad. The engine is from 2006. So im sure it has a lot of hours on it. I do like the engine though

Definitely a rock solid engine, really surprised how bad this one was at less than 300 hours

Great job. I tried using an after market on an old 16HP Craftsman. It would not run properly. Tried drilling out jets, never worked good. Rebuilt original Walbro and it runs like new.

Definitely some applications I wouldn't touch it on. This was the same for Kohler Comman Pro until now, we will see how it lasts

I just got done watching you fix a craftsman pressure washer because it wouldn't start. It was just what I needed to see! Thank you for that video. Now, can you tell me what could be wrong with a Husqvarna riding mower that won't move the back wheels! It looks like the belt is still on but we can't get it to budge. Help!
@IndRepair
@IndRepair 8 дней назад
It is locked up? Won't move at all or will it free wheel with the parking break off and the release pulled (if hydrostat)?

Great video, as always, Martin. Does that type of carburetor have a specific name? This is the first time I’ve seen anyone work on these so I’m guessing they’re not all that common. It appears to have metering and pump diaphragms just like a 2T carb.
@IndRepair
@IndRepair 13 дней назад
I am not sure about a specific name for them, sometimes this engine has this style and others it does not. Wish I could be of more help there

Was the Dixon company absorbed by another company or simply out of business? That ZT looks familiar.
@IndRepair
@IndRepair 13 дней назад
I am not positive but I believe they just went out of business. Many of the parts cross to AYP part numbers but far as I know they went fully out of business 10 plus years ago

I can’t understand why an owner it a Dixon mower would not go ahead and replace the blown head gasket at this point. The performance of the engine would be so much.

I agree, since the Command model gets good marks from every RU-vidr I’ve seen so far.
