Finally start the block work.

I've documented, prepping the pond base, mixing the mortar and my laying blocks for the first time. I started with laying the corners and then joining them. Explanations on how to use line to join corners, keep blocks at the same level and straight. Remember you don't need to rush, take your time and get the blocks flush and level as it will prevent issues further down the build.

Hi Phil, I've had some great feedback as well which only helps. I must be a natural 😂(not). Just taking my time, trying not to make any errors that will haunt me further into the build. I'm also very disappointed I didn't win anything 😁

@@KraftyKoi no I did not get round to it as it started to rain so had to forcus on it but just putting a lever ontop of the soil and clay after I've packed it all back aswell to make sure it won't move

Ain’t gonna lie mate, I couldn’t see the wood for the trees when I started. Felt like nothing would come together but seems to be going to plan now. Hope it continues. Thanks for the kind words, appreciate it.

Doing ok for a beginner, but you really do need longer levels 🤷🏼‍♂️ 2 weeks and you should smash that up now 👍🏼 and going by the blocks laid and my experience I’ll place a bet on 11,000 litres / 2500 gallons including filters when filled up 🤔 fibreglass or liner?

@@KraftyKoi actually I may have missed a block length wise so I’m 800ltrs out as it’s probably 4.3m x 2.1m @ 1.2m deep internally give or take a few cm which is 10,836ltrs + 900ltrs for nexus and pipe work…. It’s just me I price block work up a lot so I know the dimensions of everyone’s ponds roughly 🙄🤷🏼‍♂️

Great start, I’d like to know how many times you tapped the first block compared to the last. Can’t believe how dark your building sand is. By the time you’ve finished you’ll be as good as your brother 🤭🤭🤭🤭. You get a real feel for the size of the pond now that the first couple of courses are in, looks good. Stay safe and well 👍🏻

It get easier without doubt. I think I’ve laid about 64 blocks so far. Each block getting easier when paying but don’t want to get over confident. Hopefully be up in a week or so. Then fibreglassing. As always thanks for the comments Steve, oh and a win on @Telfordkoipond channel as well. 👍🏻👌🏻

Great job mate ,mines 4ft deep so leave yourself a access point to climb in and out of if going high ,it's a bugger to climb out of otherwise if blocks not set
