I'm in Canberra Australia. Middle of winter and pond temperature is sitting around 4 degrees. It's been cold 🥶 Down to minus 6 a couple of mornings back.
Oxford's temps: Bottom sensor: 18.00 Top sensor: 17.63 Air sensor: 19.56 I'd just say though that the temperature difference between the top and bottom sensor is within the error margin for those sensors and since I've got the pump running, I'd fully expect the water to mix to the point there's basically no difference. You may also want to consider methylene blue. Though wear gloves when using it, otherwise you'll end up looking like you've been getting frisky with a smurf.
Hiya, I am going to try to get into a show again this year to see what happens after last time. Can't make the Coventry one but might be able to see if I can get I to the Newark one in August? 🤔🤔
You don't need digital scales. Mechanical scales used for reloading ammunition are very affordable and don't need recalibration. Yorkshire location added a heater, which I had no intention of doing initially but bought a couple of Tosai and want to get some size on them for winter. Pond is currently a fraction over 20°c wanted some stability.
Thanks for the update great content, had a nightmare last year with parasites Flukes, Costia (twice) Chilladonella, Trich and lost my 2 shiros. Much better this year I've just second treated for a slight costia prob, caught it very early. I'm Going to invest in a Biota bacteria activator, so I can get my filter up and running quicker after treatments. Will save a fortune over these start up bombs. Bought a Shiro Utsuri 16" for £250 , early last week my temp was +16.1°c, on Sunday it was +18.3°c. Pond doesn't get a lot of sun as shaded by the house most of the year.
Hi Andy loving the videos. Keep up the good work. Makes me smile. I’m in Leicester, unheated pond. Currently sitting at just over 21 degrees My pond is in closed. Helps with temps massively
Hi Andy, Just got back from me holidays so over the last four days 20c+ up to 26c on Wednesday of last week, just outside Coventry. For treats i give my koi either spam from the tin chopped up or mini cheddars ( not in the tins or packets as they cant open them) also, Fridge Raiders they love them !! As usual another great vid, i was hoping i might see you at the koi show in Coventry this weekend but i have my Grandchildren with me and theyre not that interested in fish. Laters...
Hiya, thanks for that. I might have to try this treat ideas. I might see if I can get to Newark show this year.. To BKKS don't like my filming ideas and didn't want to see me at any future shows but I might try to get into Newark?? May try a 🥸..😊👍
Hiya, glad your enjoying the videos.. I have used Columbo products in the past and do rate them. I would use them more, but my supplier doesn't have many in so I'd have to order through the websites.. 😉👍
@KoiPondLifestyle not great couple fish really don't like it koi keeping for you there's always some bloody thing going on cheers Andy let's hope this weather stays like this 👍
Hi Andy! I am here in Australia and we are now in the middle of winter. My main pond (in ground) is at 11 degrees and the grow on pond (above) is at 10 degree. Still feeding but only a third. Koi’s still quite active. Great video, always love watching you! 👍
Hiya on the other side of the world.. Thanks for that feedback and hope your winter temps arent too bad for you and your pond. So glad to hear your enjoying the videos..😊👍
Omg thought for one second you’d say how much your fish were! Haha. 😅Yes I guess it is an unwritten law there that is not shared ever when bought from fellow koi keepers. Honestly price doesn’t matter if you love the koi you’re buying, and if you’re happy with the price, then it’s worth it. 💯👍❤️ Great video of the treatment information Andy!
Hi Andy, nice to hear what you are doing and have tried as treatments. Pond temp's - been sitting at 12 for weeks yesterday 14.1 like you still feeding a lower protein food but have gone from twice a day to 3/4 time's, fingers crossed for warmer and more stable weather conditions 🤞. Keep the videos coming ✅. Gwen
Hiya, the current weather seems to be helping to raise the temps a little now. 🤞 we get a chance to see some sort of a summer and higher temps to allow the fish some growth..😉👍
The very best fluke treatment I've used is supaverm. However, it's extremely aggressive and you need to be extremely careful and accurate with the dosing.
@@KoiPondLifestyle if you cement a u ring into the ground on all four corners of the pond, you can anchor it down with rope to each of them for wind mate
This may seem a bit late, but is this the last treatment before the full feeding period? In Japan it is unlikely that there will be any further treatment as the water temperature will be kept above 25°C all the time from here, but if it is only below 20°C it is quite troublesome to have to worry about it all the time, isn't it? Having experienced both Japan and the UK, I can tell you that if there was ever a chance to warm up, now would be the most effective and efficient time to do it, wouldn't it?
Ours is at 18 or 19 currently, it’s been up to 20 then come back down again. Fingers crossed it’s going to get a bit warmer this next week 🤞 We’re in the North West of England - Morecambe 😊
Live near Cambridge today pond is 20.6 degrees and filter house is 29.8 degrees in heated pond so as a lot of us we are held hostage but the ambient temperature great vid Andy love the content just started my own channel pop over and check it out cheers pal
Hiya there are lots of ways parasites get into your pond. Bird poo landing on your pond, slugs or snails carry them if they manage to get into your pondnor filter system, introducing new fish can bring them into your pond, or stressed fish can trigger a small amount to multiply when a fish immune system is down for whatever reason.. 🤔🤔
SW London and my unheated pond is back to 20c. About three weeks ago it hit 20c for a couple of days, but then another cold snap rolled in and it dropped back to 16c. I carried on feeding but went back to a light feed of All Seasons, 3 times a day for a week or so until it was back over 17c. The price of my recent 3 additions wa...£ .... oh no...... the lap top batterie's ...un out.....
