Kolsimcha and London Symphony Orchestra recording "Noah" at Abbey Road Studio 1

You seem like a real expert. Thanks for pointing this out to us, especially the part with "musically dead", that really sums it up.

You seem to be confusing two issues here. It's the job of the musicians/conductor to deliver the musical performance with excellent execution... the recording engineer just captures what they hear. It looks to me that they're using fairly standard mic choices/placement for the orchestra. The drummer and bassist are in isolation booths for good reason. Specifically what recording technology are Abbey Road using that you feel is negatively impacting on the sound of the orchestra? Although the playing is to a very high standard, I partially agree that the musical performance is perhaps lacking from certain musicians, but this is a massive orchestra... if everyone did their own thing the music would be an absolute mess. Furthermore, is it not the job of the conductor to steer the orchestra and bring the best performance out of the musicians? I don't see how this relates in anyway to the recording engineer.
