@@joshuab2437The liturgy is beautiful and ancient, mystical and deep. I had an Armenian friend and brother in Christ many years ago. He is a very mild, meek and highly intelligent man. He told me something wonderful and transcendent. Most would never believe his story but he opened to me a new reality of Jesus Christ that stuck with me during very dark days in my life. I am drawn to Armenian history because of this. Armenia has and is suffering much. I pray the fires of affliction would continue to refine and purify my brothers and sisters there so as the finest of the wheat would come forth. I love the duduk also. I am not religious (I did grow up in the American Calvinist / Reformed tradition), but I have such a deep love for the liturgies of the Orthodox Church. There's nothing that makes me feel more like I'm experiencing the presence of God more than an incense-filled Vespers service on a Saturday evening.
This is the most fantastic badarak I've ever heard in my life. Though I'm not ethnic Armenian, but the music of Vardapet Komitas has strongly united me with the Armenian nation, opened the treasures of it's culture, history and Armenian nature. I remember how these chants made me feel every single time I attended the Surp Kevork church as a child either to wear shabig, or play while my mom prayed and cleaned the church. In these moments I knew that something majestic and divine was going on, and I felt like nothing could harm us (we were crypto) while we were there because Asdvadz would protect us from any harm. I always got sad when we were about to go home, and always did inhale one more time before going home to at least being able to smell that beautiful incense smell again.
