Wow, another spectacular episode! Komodo National Park has some of the most breathtaking sunsets I have ever seen. The way the colors blend and reflect off the water is truly magical. It's no wonder this is one of your favorite places to sail to. Your vlogs are always something I look forward to every Sunday, and this one definitely did not disappoint. The caves may be interesting, but I agree with Liz, there's something so special about experiencing different cultures and interacting with the locals. Thank you for taking us on this incredible journey. Keep up the great work, you guys are a wonderful asset to RU-vid!

I absolutely love this part of Indonesia! Our entry to Komodo was from the south between the eastern shore of southern Komodo and the western edge of Pulau Padar (at night) with an incredibly fierce current on the nose and standing waves one could've surfed. When we hit the SW flow barreling out of Linta Straight we had to steer 50 degs just to make our way due north! But it was all worth it as we dropped anchor in that stunning circular bay (locally known as Soro Lia) on the centre of Komodo island and woke up to an amazing 360 deg vista of hillsides and rocky outcrops...and not a single other vessel in sight (a very rare occurrence, I understand). We were 10mins away from Komodo Park HQ by dinghy and spent time wandering the trails and seeing the incredible dragons with a park ranger. I am surprised you haven't mentioned Wallace's Line in this video as Komodo and surrounding islands are just on the eastern edge of it, which explains the scrubby vegetation and more arid appearance. Coming from western Lombok - which is distinctly more tropical - you would've more immediately encountered the change from lush greenery to scrubby drier ground cover, which typifies Komodo and islands east. Perhaps you mentioned it in an earlier video. Lovely stuff, as always guys! Cheers from Bill / SY Miss Foxy.

Apart from the development around Labuan Bajo I shouldn't think much has changed. Possibly still the same dragons there too!

@@followtheboat We travelled along the Nusa Tenggara island all the way to Lembata and visit the village of Lamalera and went on a whale hunting trip. Lyckely we did't cach any, but we where quite close to a dolfin. That was a bit of a struggle to get ther 35 years ago. Hope you have a good time in Indonesia.

I bet it has! And it changed when we were there too. I loved our visit and would like to take a look at more of Flores if it's possible. I think we've finally settled on our style and method, it's what we like doing best. Liz 🙏

The land reminds me of tellytubbies or the game called crash bandicoot. And there are bandicoots in the Maluku Islands nearby.

Yes. Some nice shots there Jamie. Town has changed some from what you have shown, from the time I was there. I am interested in the fees now in Komodo. Do you pay like in Raja Ampat. Cheers
@followtheboat
@followtheboat 8 месяцев назад
It was pretty reasonable. 100,000 per night for the boat to anchor within the park. I think we paid 500,000 each for the visit onland at Rinca. I'll try and include these costs in the next episode when we see the dragons.
