Fun fact: The word "anomalocaris" is made up of two Greek words. "Anomalos" meaning abnormal or strange and "caris" meaning shrimp. The word "anomalos" is also used in the word "anomaly", which means "something that deviates from what is standard, normal, or expected". "Caris" is used in another Cambrian species, the nectocaris. "Necto" meaning swimming. Which is why we say "nekton" (swimming organisms). So anomalocaris is the abnormal shrimp!!!
@@viperforty8450 I'm almost certain it's because the earlier fossils discovered were it's mouth and mandibles. At the time, they believed that the mouth was some sort of jelly. It was later discovered to be the oral cone of the anomalocaris. The abnormal body of the ancient shrimp... ANOMALOCARIS!!!
This video has changed my life. My whole outlook on everything that exists in this world, in fact even in the entire universe. I can never look at anything I know the same way ever again. This video represents emotions most humans could never comprehend. But thanks to this video, me and many others can. Thanks to this video I have been awakened to many things previously thought unimaginable. Thank you.
Good ole Cambrian Explosion...some of the weirdest lifeforms to ever grace the planet. My personal favorite is Opabinia...got that noodly grabby mouth. I've just always assumed that, if it were capable of vocalizations, it would've sounded like Beaker from the Muppets.
On multiple occasions Ive talked to my boyfriend about the Cambrian period for 1-2 hours, I usually get sad afterwards because I feel as though I'm bothering him by going on about something stupid that only I would care about but then he showed me this video an said; "This is you". I told him about the Cambrian period for 1.5 hours again today:)
