I do! I watched it 5 times within a year. Perfectly shot, perfectly edited, fantastic sound design, the MUTOs rock even when Godzilla isn't around, and the build-up, with the Hawaii fight tease, and the resulting pay off at the end is perfect as well. For me it's the best giant monster movie in movie history so far.

Peter Jackson's King Kong will always and forever be the definitive King Kong film. I watched the extended cut on bluray last night just to make sure it wasn't just nostalgia I was remembering. I'm pleased to say that it held up and it was even better than I remembered.

I loved the fact that you reference Tremors in this review! That is definitely one of my favorite B monster movies out there (which is why I have seen all five of them, lolz). I really liked Marlow (John C. Reilly) in this film and I thought that he was a great character and perfect for the film.

regarding the human interactions, hiddleston said in the graham norton show that they weren't told how big it is so i think they were made to look at one place and then they just increased the size later

Very funny and also true: "And that's why we remember those movies, because they had great characters ..." The same is also true for the character of the monster which is sometimes extremely underdeveloped. And in my opinion: It was "Tarzong" ... thank you for the video!

I was blown away by Kong Skull Island!! The end credit sequence was breathtaking!! A lot of people who didn't see Godzilla were looking at each other in the theatre like WTF!! It's obvious that Godzilla and Kong Skull Island is the precursor to the Godzilla King of the Monsters film which will be released in 2019!!!

Fun fact that king kong vs the dinosaurs scene in the 2005 film was directed by Bryan singer if you watch the superman returns video diaries Peter Jackson became sick during production due to lack of sleep and stress so singer ended up directing that scene while Jackson went to rest

If I didn't include Jurassic Park, my favorite monster movie would actually be the 2014 Godzilla. Unlike most people, I liked the mystery of Godzilla, and I thought Godzilla had plenty of time in the movie.

Way behind on commenting for this one but favorite monster movie - The Host/Gwoemul. Also hell yes, I've been voicing the same opinion for years and glad to finally hear someone else say it too. Jackson's Kong had arguably the most savage monster brawl of all time on film and basically all other monster fights I watch are compared to it and none have even come close.

Of course people went to see a King Kong movie for King Kong..... As I said in my review. These monsters are only as good as the supporting characters make them. If it wasn't for great characters Jaws would just be a scary shark movie, Jurassic Park would've been just a cool dino movie with good cgi, Tremors would've been forgotten instantly. Seems obvious, better characters = better movie.

This movie was pure eye candy. Loved the cinematography and the stylistic choices. It was just a fun and entertaining movie! Saw it in one of the biggest IMAX screens in the country. It was amazing!! Especially that post credits scene roar....

The biggest stars in this film were Kong and the island itself. I enjoy the fact that there wasn't a heavy focus on the humans on the island. Everytime one of them thought they had things under control the island put them in check.

Yeah, man, but (unless I'm mis-remembering it) in Peter Jackson's King Kong; Kong fought bitterly with that T-Rex for five minutes - with Naomi Watts in his hand. He never thought to put her down anywhere, and she would have been totally dead after all that. Unbelieveable!

Enjoyed this movie. The helicopter scene was epic. I think the soundtrack added to the thrill-ride nature of this movie. While I do not think that this movie will win a 2018 Oscar...for best makeup, etc. (talking at you Suicide Squad),for its full run of 1 hour and 58 minutes I had an exciting ride.

I loved this! The visuals as good as they get, great action and suspense combined with comedic moments. This movie is about KONG. Actors are just there to bring u through the story. If u are one of them who cant survive without watching a movie without shitloads of character development then dont watch it, simple enough. Critizising this for not having character depth is like critizising a horror movie for lack of humor. I'll give it 9/10. (my opinion)

So glad to see that you gave the 2005 "King Kong" movie some positive mention, because I find that film to be completely epic and underrated, and it also introduced me to my all-time favorite director, Peter Jackson! I recently just saw "Kong: Skull Island" last night, and despite some annoying characters at certain points, I really enjoyed the movie more than I thought I would (I'd give it a 7/10). However, nothing will ever top the 2005 movie for me personally.

I just saw it. I was really entertained. I thought that there was enough character development for the movie. I even liked the best scene from this one better than from the Jackson version. Really liked the final scene after the end credits

I love Godzilla! I thought the teases to him, made the creature larger than life. It was always shown from a human perspective, rather than the camera being in a convenient spot, so we can see every detail. Instead, it was more reserved. I like that.

I wonder how they plan to get Kong and Godzilla to fight each other. They are both supposed to be protectors against other monsters. This franchise doesn't have a Lex Luthor to invent some ludicrously convoluted scheme to trick the heroes into hating each other. LOL
