This video is an effort to provide platform to local women who are in possession of authentic recipes acquired from their mothers, aunties or grannies.
Sea water Shrimps are known as "Kolambi" in coastal Maharashtra (Konkan) & Goa.
This cuisine is a classic blend of some secret coastal spices to cook the shrimps in coconut milk.
One of these spice is known as "Tirphale" in the local language which gives amazing aroma to the curry and a slight tingly note on the tongue initially when you start eating.
This curry is served with steam cooked white or brown rice for lunch or dinner in the main course with some fried fish as a side dish.
This simple recipe needs a little preparation beforehand however the cooking time is much lesser as shrimps cook amazingly fast.
Kindly ensure that the Shrimps are are properly deveined & cleaned.
In Konkan or Goa, women make fresh coconut milk in their kitchen however canned coconut milk gives almost the same results.
Though this video is made in local language, we have provided subtitles & we welcome your comments, queries, questions on it.
Our sincere thanks to Smita Dalvi for agreeing to share her secret spices & processes on to this video.
Smita belongs to one of the districts in the coastal Maharashtra and she is an enthusiastic writer about coastal cuisine & food in the local newspapers.
