I don't have a problem with the concept of this as if it works, it works. There is a sacred mask on the line and it can be booked properly. It sounds silly upon first hearing, but it does make some sense. If WWE had a 16 man reverse tournament like this with midcard talent and the loser leaves WWE, that would work because jobs are on the line. Would I book it? Probably not, but stories could be told if done properly. I think the concept would work better in a 70s/80s territory setting.

As usual, Disco can't see anything past his own pelican sized beak. Speaking as an American, the match doesn't make sense to me, but if it works for the 10,000 Mexican audience members that routinely to see it, then more power to em.

I'm not subscribed to this channel but I often listen to it when it pops up in my suggestions. I never knew that there was a lucha section because I previously commented that the show should have a lucha section, but like I said, I only have seen random clips until now. The cage match that you were arguing about I remember the first time I saw one. Since I don't understand Spanish I didn't know what was going on during the match but I noticed that the "winner" was the loser and thought it was the most absurd concept I ever seen. But I saw another match, I believe that it was the IWRG Castle of Terror or whatever it is known by. The second time watching the match, it dawned on me what was going on and now I understand the concept. I also wonder how long before an American promotion bites the concept and makes their own version of the match but probably with their own twist.

Hold on. I think Disco is missing the fact that the teams are made of two people that are feuding, correct? So it’s two enemies that have to get along long enough to survive. If you fail to survive and lose the match against your partner, you lose either your hair or mask. What’s not to understand? I would totally watch that.

I grew up with Lucha, what makes this tournament exciting is the big names involved (especially this past one). Yeah, at the end you get the "loser" vs "loser", but you are not getting jobber vs jobber, these are big names facing each other with their masks (or hair) on the line.

AAA attendance, seems like the only real major spike was in 2012, other than that, it looks to me like pretty much the same audience year after year who will come to see anything LL because they like the sport, regardless of whos there or what the "story" is so this "concept" is not the draw, the show, AAA is the draw much like WWE and AEW have no true stars like a Hogan, Flair, Rock or Ausitin, they just have a core fan base who shows up no matter what. I don't get how it's hard to understand. From what I understand, unlike a tournament that gives a prize or championship at the end to the final winner, it's a tournament that gives a punishment at the end if you fail to win a single match. I don't watch lucha, but this seems simple to understand, and it actually seems interesting.

I think the only issue Disco had with his comprehension of it was referring to it as a "loser advances tournament". Isn't he a sports lad? Disco is completely missing the point. You have multiple rounds, one or two big stars lose a match or two so they end up, kayfabe, being in danger of losing their masks. They guys who lose, who are currently not over, can get over by losing because everyone wants to see who loses and gets unmasked. Then the unmasked curtain jerker guys get notoriety and sympathy for losing their mask and have a revenge angle going forward. It can be done.
