Hogan wanted the glory and spot for himself! It all makes sense to why the faction failed in WCW in 1999. Added to that, the fans, me included, got bored with the same thing.

Hogan ended it when he didn't want to split from Hall and Nash and feud with them. Instead, they split the Outsiders which NOBODY wanted!! That was the end there.

I can remember as a kid during this time there was this golden time in wrestling were WWE had Austin vs Vince, DX vs Nation, Undertaker vs Kane & Manking etc.... while WCW seemed to have all of these giant matches in the works and so many of them didn't happen. Fall Brawl 98 should have been the match.

Steiner and Bagwell were the coolest black and white members at that time.

Huge fan of the nWo storyline. I wish the face version of the Wolfpac had a longer run with the Hogan v Nash match in 98 to disband nWo Hollywood THEN in mid 99 bring them back together as the Elite.

The Fingerpoke Of Doom isn't the biggest botch WCW did with Wolfpac, the REAL mistake they made was turning Hogan face while reuniting the nWo. Why do that? Why even keep Hogan in the faction?!

I hated how they called them the NWO “Elite” when it was just all of the members back together but now with Luger in and Konnan out. Hollywood Hogan wearing Wolfpac colors looked so off and then he had weeks when he was wearing a Wolfpac shirt with but a back and white headband. Then one time had a NWO black and white’ish blue’ish shirt lol. Then the original colors was reduced to the “B-Team”. I get the Wolfpac was cooler but if they were all gonna come back together and be all heels just keep it back to the original. Or do that black and silver look they ended up doing for NWO 2000. At this point I can just tell they ran out of ideas and say hey bring back together and run it back lol. And the funniest part of it was Sting just being silently removed from the group when the last time we saw him he was in the Wolfpac.

This is the sort of horrific booking that Eric Bischoff is trying advise Tony Khan to stop making in AEW but Tony Khan is one of those mentally weak little embarrassments. If it's not 100% praise then it can't handle it and freaks out.

People weren't watching WCW religiously at this point compared to Summer of 1996.

For me, it was when they split into the Wolfpac and Hollywood versions. Wolfpac was way cooler than Hollywood.

The red and black NWO, the Wolfpack is what got me back into wrestling. But WCW really started pissing me off. It felt like every single night the Wolfpack was getting screwed over & over, or there was a run in, or a DQ every single freaking night! In my middle school everyone loved those five in the wolf pack! IMO Even Lex Luger came off hip & cool when he was with them. However I thought Scott Hall would have fit way better with the Red & Black. When I was in 8th grade I would wear my red and black NWO shirt with a flannel button down with just the top buttoned 😉

Adding Sting to the Wolfpac was a BAD idea.

They failed when they gave Hogan creative control. No wrestler should have total control over his character. Tony Khan wake up before its too late. Vince is horrible in his own right as a person. But as a business man, he knew how to keep Hogan at bay.

The Wolfpack should have been the OG Wolfpac (Hall, Nash, and Syxx) plus Konan who fit their vibe well. Then you have the NWO Hollywood should have been led by Hollywood, Savage, The Giant, and Scott Steiner plus the rest of the Black and White guys like Curt Henig, Buff Bagwell, and Norton. They just did a bad job dividing up the factions and then of course Hogan was making the red and black look as bad as possible

Wolfpack is way bigger in their heads. They sold allot of merch for a few months but it was a cool shirt. The ratings didn't go up as goldburg was keeping wcw in it in spring to summer 98. Hogan is s politician but the whole thing happened because of him turning heel to begin with. Everyone was sick of nwo by starcade 97 so all this is revisionism.

Yeah seeing reliving the War and seeing it originally as well. It was weird. Wolfpac was super hot and it just sort of petered out even for months before the fingerpoke. Hall not being a member if the Wolfpac and no real confrontations between NWO Hollywood and NWO Wolfpac or barely any really important ones. It was weird.

Growing up in The Bronx Hogan never appealed to me or anyone I grew up with. He was too cartoonish. Hall and Nash really changed the game and made wrestling cool. Hogan was not that dude for us. He was more like some cop from Connecticut trying to pass as a gangster. $3 bill phoney.

Agreed, it would have been great for Hogan to regroup, get the newest members punk out the black and white, so have him, Hall, Steiner and Stevie Ray beat down Hennig, Adams etc. to only invite Booker T and have the greatest WCW tag team in their ranks, the nWo never had a legit proper tag team. Hogan, Hall, Big Poppa Pump and Harlem heat would have been a great nWo and would hold up in name value and coolness against the wolfpac.

WCW went down for a variety of issues. Hogan having creative control. Adding members to the nWo week after week until just about the entire locker room was nWo. It got stale. Ridiculous booking and egos were also a huge factor. So as much as I’d love to put it all on Bischoff and Russo, it wasn’t just on them.

for kids today who don't get how bad of an idea never doing a Wolfpac/ Nash vs nWo/ Hogan match was: consider how in AEW when Tony Khan spent like half a year building up the devil angle only for the big reveal to be a very small, injured wrestler. Now imagine that only if The Devil gimmick was drawing. It's madness that Hogan vs Nash didn't happen back in 98.

This should have been the biggest storyline heading into Fall Brawl 98. Had they never did Hogan vs Goldberg on free tv, they could have built towards Hogan vs Goldberg at Starrcade 98 with the streak intact.
