I'm speaking before I'm watching the video, but Konosub is *basically* just a beer and pretzels game of dnd run by people who don't know the definition of inhibition. And it's glorious.

One thing I would disagree on is Kazuma's wisdom. His Wisdom should honestly be 20, because that's Kazuma's best trait apart from being lucky. The reason for this is because the manga and anime have constantly expressed that Kazuma is extremely cunning, way more than most people. And Wisdom would definitely help with that.

If you're trying to find a parallel to Kazuma's "Drain Touch", I'd say it's more of a combination of "Vampiric Touch" and "Life Transference". Vampiric Touch lets you siphon the life from your enemies to heal yourself for 1/2 the damage you deal to the enemy Life Transference lets you deal damage to yourself, and you heal an ally for 2x. the damage you take. Since Kazuma has been shown transferring life from one target to another (both in the picture you showed while explaining the ability, and when he was draining life from Darkness to give to Wiz when she was dying from being near Aqua too long), It can be assumed he knows both of these spells. They're both Necromancy spells, both can be learned by wizards, and both are level 3 spells, so it would still fit the build. I would also argue that Kazuma has either 1 level in Fighter, or 2 levels in Ranger. Since Kazuma has the "Snipe" ability, that can be equated as taking the "Archery" fighting style, giving him a boost to attack rolls when using a ranged weapon. and while Kazuma does have a knack with killing giant frogs, I would hardly count that as being a "favoured enemy", so we'll say that it's 1 level in Fighter. I'd even go so far as to say that he's probably 3 levels in fighter, taking the "Battle Master" archetype. giving him 3 maneuvers of his choice, which would be "Precision attack", allowing his attacks to be more accurate (the Snipe ability), "Evasive Footwork", allowing him to increase his AC while running away from an enemy, and "Goading attack", which allows him to basically taunt the target, giving the enemy disadvantage on attacking anyone but Kazuma. that would make him a 12th level character, with Fighter = 3, Rogue = 3, Wizard = 5, and Cleric = 1. this would still make him weaker than everyone else (especially with only 58 HP, compared to Megumin and Aqua's 91 HP, and Darkness' 159), while getting *most* of the unique details of Kazuma

I pretty much disagree with all the classes and the ability scores: Megumin is a sorceror with empowered metamagic, and like the rest of her party, she dumped wisdom completely. Darkness is a level 4 bearbarian/ level 4 battlemaster fighter with commander's strike/ level 4 Paladin / and level 1 life cleric with a 14 strength and 20 con --her missing is due to disadvantage from the charmed condition Aqua is a favored soul sorceror with all her spells focused in healing and water; she also gets prestidigitation from this class she has an 8 in both intelligence and wisdom Kazuma is a lvl 9 arcane trickster with all his spells from the wizard list (especially the cantrips from Xanthar's Guide)

Dude great job with darkness, never imagine you could use great weapon master like that lol. Dunno how far have you read it but Megumin is pretty much op rn. Not only she can silent chant, but she's also able to hold the spell for however long she pleases since it doesn't seem to require concentration, meaning she can cast mountain blowing explosions in an instant in almost 1k range.

If you make Megumin a sorcerer you can use metamagic to add a blowback effect to her delayed blast fireball.

I know how I would build Darkness in Pathfinder based on novel that has 15 volumes. (She is quite charming when she puts on farce to talk to other nobles and I would give her more WIS if I had more Points) Chaotic Good turned into Lawful Good Human (25 points buy) 13 STR(+1), 7 DEX(-2), 20 CON(+5->+7), 13 INT(+1), 8 WIS(-1), 15 CHA(+2->+3). Point buy 4 into CON, 1 to CHA Give her oversized Bastard sword =-2 to hit for oversized, -4 due to not having exotic weapon proficiency Barabarian(Armored Hulk or Brutal Pugilist) for DR 2 lvl Paladin for + CHA saves. Stalwart Defender for DR (her muscles in arm stoped sword slash by warrior, note she did this without armor) Dazzling Display(where she had shaken Beldia Dullahan by her "display"), Power Attack(-to hit, +dmg, need 13STR), Toughness, Die Hard, Combat Expertise(+ to AC, - to hit, need 13INT), Armor focus, some grapple skill, Vital Strike( attack once= less crit chance, and more damage) Since she turned into Lawful she can't rage. add Fighting Defensively(-4 to hit) on lvl 1 she can have -9 to hit on lvl 13= +1/-4/-9 to hit on lvl 20= +0/-5/-10/-15 to hit

The part about having abilities that makes it look like he's as lucky as people tells he is while it's just some "evasion skill/spell" makes sense. He's the kind of guy who would totally use that and how people underestimate him to his advantage for not being killed again an Xth time.

Hey man, Megumin's explosion casting time is explained in the books, she put some skill points on it to make it shorter throughout the history. Later on she can cast explosion almost instantly, pretty OP. Also, Darkness in the books uses a great sword, so you were right. Nice video btw!

*Darkness can have a -9 on attack rolls in Pathfinder* Here's what I think: If Darkness had STR 8 then she wouldn't be able to even lift her sword or stand up with her armor on. If this was Pathfinder, I would suggest this: Put STR to 16 and DEX to 7, but have her get Power Attack, Combat Expertise (requires INT 13) and Weapon Finesse for feats, and make her only fight defensively. Using Power Attack imparts a -1 penalty on attack rolls but gives a +2 (+3 if wielding a weapon two-handed) on damage rolls. The penalty and bonus go up an additional -1/+2 for every 4 points of BAB (Base Attack Bonus) you have. Combat Expertise does the same but instead of a bonus on damage rolls it gives you a bonus to AC. Fighting defensively also gives you a bonus to AC but at the cost of -4 to hit. Now, PF has this thing called Archetypes which can radically change classes. Darkness can definitely be a Paladin (a class with high BAB) and take the Virtuous Bravo archetype, which is an archetype meant for dexbuilds (it gives you a Weapon Finesse-like feat) and is not proficient in heavy armors. You can see where this is going. That's a -2 to hit (Darkness' dex modifier because she is using VB's Weapon Finesse and adding dex to hit and not str) plus the armor check penalty for not being proficient with it. Half-plates have an armor check penalty of -7 and they're the type of armor Darkness probably uses. At level 10 we have +10 BAB -2 dex -7 ACP -3 Power Attack -3 Combat Expertise -4 fighting defensively For a grand total of -9 on attack rolls. With a Full BAB class. Oh btw she also has an extra attack per round, with a malus of -14. Edit: I would also give her a good charisma score to boost her saves as a paladin. It's not that she isn't charismatic (she saved Kasuma at the beginning of season 2 by talking the judge out thanks to her social standing), she just has these horny moments that make her fail every diplomacy check.

I haven't read the full thing but apparently Aqua is very skilled in arts even in the light novel. There's a ommited scene during the planning against the Destroyer in which she makes a gorgeous drawing inside a cup out of boredom. I can't recall what it was but It was so pretty that her party lamented when she nonchalantly erases the thing not realizing what she's done, her reasoning being it was made on a ephimeral medium to begin with.

level 1 variant human rogue with magic initiate, level 1 aisimar cleric, level 5 paladin human strength build who uses dex weapons, A level 17 sorcerer who refuses to cast anything but meteor swarm with a sculpted spell.

I would probably argue that for megumin you could use tiefling (just say that they're cosmetically human with red eyes) and for explosion it can progress through levels, she'll only use it at the highest level she has, and at it's max level it has the same stats as meteor swarm.

funny, when making my interpretation of Megumin I actually gave her a high Charisma, since she does have the guts to always do the act and stuff, it's almost like a Bard doing a performance.

Two disagreements I have that haven't been addressed, I think: Kazuma's stats would probably all be the same. Something like 14's in Dex, Str and Int and 13's in Con, Wis and Cha, though you could probably dump his Wisdom in favor of slightly higher Con and Int while staying true to his character. Aqua would be an Aasimar (I'll say Protector for the Wisdom bump). Since her race on her Adventurer card says "goddess," it's clearly canon that she's not a Human, and Aasimar seems closest to divinity among the playable races. Edit: I forgot it at the time, but Aqua also is said to have Darkvision, so...

My first ever D&D party was basically konosuba. I was playing a magician who went slightly insane at some point due to the deck of many things and me going mad with power IRL, got a wand of fireball from a magic shop's discount bin pretty early on and that was basically my default action in literally every situation. I remember cooking breakfast for the party using it once. My friend decided to play a thief with a pet cat literally named "chomsuke" after the cat in konosuba, he picked the cat's name in character creation so he had no way of knowing how perfect it would turn out to be (This same cat went on to start a war between gods and basically become the entire plot for awhile). Also, this part is unconfirmed but the DM hinted that he might have somehow managed to roll a ring of wish from the same magic discount bin my magician found his wand of fireball in, so I guess the luck stat also matches. We also have a fighter who rolled really good for health basically every time and ended up finding a set of mithril armor in a dungeon, so not only did she have more health than the entire party combined and more AC than god, mithril also means that attacks from non-magical weapons literally cannot hit. And she's also gone full sessions without ever hitting anything. She doesn't have any kind of stat debuffs or an in game mechanical reason why she can never hit anything, just really consistently bad rolls. We're still missing a useless goddess though, but that's probably for the better. As you can imagine from this glorious line up, we got up to some stupid shit. The fighter is currently the only one still alive and playing (of course) since my magician fucking died (of course) and the thief's player dropped out. Also, this is Original D&D so that's why the class names are weird. Magician = Wizard Thief = Rogue Fighter... is just a normal fighter.

My first D&D character was a useful Megumin. She was a half-elf Evocation Wizard with Sage for backstory. She had a black cat with bat wings familiar named Chomusuke and she killed the last enemy in the campain with a lvl 9 Fireball

Aqua should be max level as said in the anime, which is why she will be stuck with her terrible int. Also, megamin has spent everything on her spell sp she would probably use spell points to cast it. Darkness should also have heavy armor master.

It's seeing people struggle to make these kinds of builds that lets me appreciate the freedom and flexibility of point-buy systems like GURPS, where Kazuma's luck is easily represented under a single advantage, instead of having to shoehorn in a half dozen traits for something only vaguely similar to the actual character. But I suppose finding out how all those could work together was the fun of making this and I'm thoroughly impressed at how close you got!

It's a shame man, you could have done that in a much better way. But still good idea.

Making them human was a lazy choice

So I played a modified version of this Kazuma during a level 14 one shot a while back. To make up for the lower level, the DM let me have Evasion and everyone got a Boon. Mine was called “Stupidly Lucky” and have me 2 additional Luck points, as well as making any rolls lower than my proficiency modifier become a natural 20. The Boons were because we had to escape a maximum security prison with no starting equipment, not even armor or a spell casting focus. Kazuma was one of three out of eight to escape the prison and it was mostly because no one could even hit him.

I adore the ideas and I think you did amazing so far on the recreation Only one small tweak I'd personally make, I would have personally made Aqua a Devine soul sorcerer, that way lore wise and character wise it would fit her more, I'd say make her goddess "blood" be one of lawful just because it gives you a free Bless spell in your spell list, along with having access to both spell list of Cleric and sorcerer, which is close to, if not exactly like the wizard list, so you'd still have minor illusion and prestigitation, and her Charisma would help out but that's just a side benefit and not really intentional. You would also semi nerf her HP and skills which would be also fitting of Aqua and restrict her to no armour, since as in the show she rarely changes out of her outfit Over all amazing video my dude

Megumin: Draconic or Phoenix sorcerer with Elemental Adept (fire), casts delayed blast fireball with Empowered and Extended Spell metamagic (since empowered can be used with other metamagics). The doubled duration to 2 minutes grants a total of 32d6+5 damage, or with Elemental Adept allowing you to make all 1's into 2's and empowered granting you 5 free rerolls on damage dice, you get a guaranteed 69-197 fire damage per delayed blast fireball, skewed towards the high end from Empowered Spell. Now *that* is an ECKUSUPLOSION!!

Megumin could arguably be a warlock pact of the fiend. Hence the "Crimson Demons" name. This addresses a few things. 1) Why her spells are only at the most powerful, and 2) how she can survive. Pact of the fiend warlocks can get health from enemies they kill.

I'm more familiar with the novels than the anime, and I don't know all the English names for what's going on as I read it in Japanese. That said, here are my thoughts: ・First, well done and well made! Thank you for taking the time to make this video, and giving us the opportunity to think about our own takes on things. ・Coming up with my own take on the characters, I decided it didn't make sense to equate the girls' levels. Megumin's clan are power-levelers, and Aqua is a Goddess. ・Megumin: Sorcerer fits more with the theme of her clan having innate magical aptitude. I think Draconic (Red) is a good origin since her clan was 'genetically' altered to be more magical, but a case could be made for Wild Magic given the C.D. penchant for the dramatic. Anyway, in the KonoSuba world the characters themselves level up and choose abilities. Megumin makes the conscious choice after meeting Wiz the first time that everything she does will be to enhance her Explosion spell. I respect your choice of Delayed Blast Fireball to represent Explosion, and a case could be made for up-casting Fireball, but I think a good representation is Meteor Swarm (flavored a bit, of course). Explosion is described in the novels as the top tier of magic, accessible only to a chosen few. It is the culmination of 'exploding' magic (爆発魔法) and 'destruction' magic (炸裂魔法), so a fire & bludgeoning spell fits; it also fits nicely with one-cast-a-day at 9th level. The in-world skills she takes as she levels up are all enhancements to her one spell, so thematically that fits well with piling on Metamagic. I would also give her the Prodigy feat in addition to Fire Adept, as she was top of her class when young and should have Arcana Expertise. Given her upbringing, the Urchin background makes sense. ・Darkness: I think more focus should go to her absurd durability, which I think is her major characteristic. One could simply say she takes the Dodge action instead of attacking any chance she gets to represent her lack of attacking capability, since she can still use her sword to receive attacks. As for class, the Paladin Oath of Redemption 7th level ability allows her to assume damage meant for someone else, satisfying her masochistic urges. Paladin also reflects her ability to resist mind control, like she did with Banil, and her divine devotion to Eris. She should also be multi-classed to Barbarian for at least two reasons: she's shown to be quite resistant to damage even without her armor, and Danger Sense reflects her ability to survive Megumin's Explosions. I had a hard time deciding between Berserker and Zealot, but I think Zealot is better for its divine connotations as well as the 6th level bonus to saving throws. With Fanatical Focus, Aura of Protection, and Danger Sense stacking it is easy for Darkness to save against almost anything. Plus she can still rage with half-plate armor to get the damage reductions. Character-wise, nothing but the Noble background makes sense. ・Aqua: Excellent spell flavor turning Inflict Wounds into God Blow!! Trouble is, as the fight with the giant toads shows, God Blow is bludgeoning damage, not necrotic like Inflict Wounds. Anyway, to me, Grave Domain makes more sense to me than Arcana. Given, she is shown to have a distaste for demons as well as the undead, but her godly portfolio included reincarnation as well as water, and the undead in KonoSuba are shown to follow her around with an almost mindless desire to be released from the material plane. Her relationship to the cycle of life makes more sense than any dabbling in wizardry. Ability Scores are a tough call; when she gets her Adventuring Card, it's said that all her stats maxed out except Luck (which of course is not a stat in D&D). If you give up on making an AL Legal character (she is a Goddess after all), you could max out everything other than Wisdom. Everything she sucks at in the story is associated with Wisdom in D&D, which makes the Cleric class nice and ironic. I would go ahead and put her a level 20 since she's maxed out anyway, and so she has reliable Divine Intervention (she just does it herself!); use her ASIs to give her random feats like Actor and Tavern Brawler (she is supposed to be abnormally good at punching). Aqua needs Darkvision as she is described as being able to see in dark caves unlike the human party members. Aasimar makes sense as a race; unlike Tieflings they look mostly like humans of superhuman beauty. Finally, the Entertainer background gives her the Performance skills she deserves. ・Kazuma: Great start with Lucky and Arcane Trickster! The invisible Mage Hand is a great way to represent his Steal ability. It makes more sense to me to have him multi-class more to reflect his broad adaptability and lack of diligence. He needs something to represent his sniping ability, and Bard fits well with his creativity, personability, and scheming nature. So I picture something like Arcane Trickster 3/Arcane Archer 4/Lore Bard 3. He gets Mage Hand, Shape Water, and Gust from AT; Prestidigitation (Tinder) from AA; uses the ASI from the 4th Fighter level to take Magic Initiate: Wizard for Mold Earth and Ray of Frost; and Vicious Mockery and True Strike from Bard (as well as access to Cutting Words and Invisibilty). I feel like filling him up with cantrips (8 cantrips at 10th Level!) is much more thematic than too many Wizard levels for one spell. After all, in the story he never learns more than basic magic -- he is just creative in its use. This build also gives him Jack of all Trades and at least 12 skill proficiencies (after choosing a background), 4 with Expertise. By stopping short of 4th level in Rogue and Bard, he doesn't get any ASIs there. This leaves him broadly adept without being naturally powerful. As a side note, Kazuma is also supposed to be able to repair armor, cook well, and invent small devices; he can get the Smith and Tinker's Tools proficiencies from an (AL legal) custom background, but there is an interesting UA feat called Gourmand that reflects his chef skills well.

I would possibly consider the divine soul sorcerer for aqua, picking protection from good and evil and use of the eldarin elf race, possibly stuck in spring form. Megumin would be a sorcerer too, but more like a draconic bloodline and maybe make her Glasya Teifling to disquise herself as a red-eyes human, but about any would do but mammon or fierna would also fit.

Darkness should have been a Long Death Monk not Open Palm, because of Mastery of Death that it gets at 11th level. Mastery of Death allows you to spend 1 ki point to be at 1hp instead of 0hp. Hour of Reaping is also pretty good to simulate the creepy vibes she gives people.

Megumin would be a sorcerer. and converting all her spell slots into points to use extended meta magic to give delayed fire ball the max damage it can possibly do that is a extra 20d6 fire damage. also she seems to have more emotion in her spells rather then knowledge

I recently imagined a random encounter involving NPCs inspired from Spice and Wolf. A traveling Merchant and his mysterious and beautiful wife, who turns out to be a wolf exposed to The Fey Wild. She has two forms, her true form of a wolf larger than an elephant and a humanoid form which retains wolf ears and a tail which she hides. The party has a chance to discover her secret either by accident or by choosing to investigate her nature.

For Darkness you should have had her as either a paladin, barbarian or fighter for bigger hit die, and have her use a weapon that resembles a sword(and so, has the same damage dice) but is actually an improvised weapon. RAW says that it's the dm's discretion whether to allow it as a weapon she'd have proficiency in.

Love the vid! Only thing I would do is give Kazuma a Charisma mod of -3. His general reputation in town is lackluster even considering his aid to the townsfolk.

As a sorcerer, Megumin can convert all her lower spells into sorcery points- such that she can use every metamagic she can on that fireball XD (though you would need dm permission to layer them) Distant Spell, Heightened Spell, Enlarged Spell, and Empowered Spell

I like how megumene is a pillow. At first I was confused and then it dawned on me as to why and i had to laugh

If I was allowed to use the Spell Casting Variant rule, Which is an official rule, I would make Megumin a Sorcerer, So I could convert her low level spellslots to level 7 or 9, For more explosions and more damage.

I would have gone Sorceror for Megumin. That way she could transfer her spell slots into her highest level via Sorcery Points. And she would have the high Charisma her character does. Infernal Pact Warlock is also a good choice, for Fireball and the fact she would just have the 2 spell slots.

Actually the reason Megumin chants change length is because she doesnt even really need to chant all that much, it only takes about 2 sentences but she extends the length of the chant for more power (and swag points lol) depending on how much she needs
