This is very good instructional video. Which version of Protools is this? Because I have kontakt 5.3, I can add Kontakt to a channel, can load a few libraries. But it says my kontakt is too old to load libraries such as Sound iron emotional piano, emotional cello. But the same libraries open in Nuendo.
Nice video. Actually I am using the Session Guitarist Picked Acoustic and I am having trouble recording my tracks into Pro Tools. Do I have to manually create the midi notes in Pro Tools like you did with your 3 instruments? Or can I play Auto Chords and record it directly into Pro Tools? Please advise. Thanks
Hmmm, not totally sure because I don't know that library, however, even auto-chords are triggered by MIDI, so a D Minor might be D2 & F# or some key combination. If it's a MIDI channel and routing issue, then yes, you need to make sure the MIDI channels on your track and the Kontakt patch match as well as the outputs/inputs
This is a GREAT tutorial! Can you use Komplete Kontrol plugin as a multichannel and route like this? I want to be able to use my controls from my M32 while routing as you’ve instructed. I’d imagine you can use it and launch kontakt from within. Thanks man.
Is it possible to draw all the drums and then somehow separate each sound to a separate pro tools track to mix drums properly --- kick. snare, hi hats, cymbals etc?
If I understand your question, that's what this tutorial explains, at least in terms of having your kick, snare, hi hat sounds coming out of discrete PT tracks from Kontakt - it does work slightly differently for various sound libraries. You can also use the Select/Split Notes function under Event/Event Operations to take a track and separate the MIDI notes to individual tracks, or you could commit your tracks and convert them from MIDI to audio, with each drum on its own track.
