Second only to The Jacksons that year, Kool and the Gang was easily the second best touring band that year (1984). They could switch up to soul, funk, rock, and jazz without missing a beat and did all genre's as good or better than any other act. Also JT is in full mastery mode, he has total command of the stage. I love the Gang!!!!

These guys did an excellent job!!! So much energy through the whole concert. JT was the man. His voice was extraordinaire. I really miss those days. This was an A++++ performance. Too Hot was one of my favorite songs. Always loved that horn solo.

They Sound Grrrreat!

They came to Atlanta September 2021, and they were great!

They came to New Orleans when I was about 10 years old. I waited the entire parade just to get a glimpse of them on the float. I still remember seeing them and the excitement from everyone in the streets. I also had a crush on J.T.

They brought back some good good memories of that old love n very good times ❤

Best part of my childhood was to have this talented group playing on the radio! The pull was and is so strong! James's voice is my favorite chakra.

Get Down On It never sounded better. Damn what a hell of a performance of this classic song JT at his very best.😊

Not even with the best technology available with today's sound boards and engineering can the studio sound be duplicated on the concert stage. Jt sounds just like the original recording along with the superb base and horns that just hit every note. This was music as it was meant to be not the crap that is played today where every artist sounds the same. Long live funk mixed with pop n jazz. Luv it!!!

This show was done at my hometown New Orleans during The 1984 World's Far. I didn't attend this show but this brings back memories going to The World's Fair. It's unfortunate that The World's Fair was a failure in The Big Easy. Oh well, thanks for posting this concert. Oh yeah "Why the song "Joanna" was cut out of this concert? That's a classic. And I would had been a little tick if I went to this show and they didn't play "Jungle Boogie" another classic.

Saw Kool in the Gang at Fort Bragg NC while stationed (82nd Airborne Division)was19 yrs and then saw them again at my homeland Puerto Rico Jan10/1986. Got to admit till now the best 2 concerts I been to!!

I saw the Jacksons in concert in ‘81 when MJ was still black…excellent show. The difference with Kool is they played the instruments where the Jacksons were backed up by real musicians.

Back when artists where lean, mean, athletic and full of energy, apparently the lead singer in yellow James "J.T." Warren Taylor left the group in 1989 to pursue a solo career but still remains the most recognizable face of the band to date. His solo career wasn't even successful and he stopped performing all together.
