That Kool G bar coming back like I'm Avenging my brothers death is a bar. It refers to the Chinese Kung Fu flicks we watched in the 80s when the Shaolin would come fight the Wu Tang because they killed one of the munks brothers . That's NYC Saturday TV in the 80s .
The symphony is from '88. "Juice" the movie came out years later, he's referring to the "juice crew" which is what this collective called themselves. They're all GOATS. Check out "Ill street blues" or "take em to war" from Kool g, One of the best to ever do it.
Since the first time I ever heard this song it’s been one of my favorite all time hip hop songs….I was 16-17 when this came out & it stayed in my tape deck for weeks….I still pump this shit in my ride to this day 🖤🥶y’all stay safe
@@itsjob595 I agree. But it was a lot closer than I remembered. But now listening to it later. Kane is right there. But I still give the slight edge to Kool G
"you jumped on the tip when you heard me in The Juice Crew". He's saying, "Now you want to talk to me now? You were ignoring me before." This song was released in '88. The movie Juice came out in '92.
You should do a segment on the bridge wars boogie down productions vs the juice crew. In this order Mc Shan “the bridge”, boogie down productions “ South Bronx”, Mc Shan “kill that noise”, then boogie down productions “ The bridge is over” which ended the battle

The voice part about Vincent Price, he was known for the horror genre backnin the 40s. Coming back like I'm avenging my brothers death, is a reference to Kung Fu movies, where the protagonist comes back stronger than everyone and k*ll them.

New(er) hip hop (aside from the underground ) has gotten lazy…..like the music isn’t the most important thing anymore when it should be the ONLY thing that matters….the rest of that shit is filler 🖤🥶
If you REALLY want to hear G Rap go off then go listen to Men At Work - it's a lyrical masterpiece. He kills it on other classics like Bad To the Bone or Kool Is Back. Him and Rakim were the lyrical kings back then. Everybody thinks Big Daddy would have been a good battle for Ra - nah - the real battle there would have been G. Rap and Rakim. They were monsters and it's no coincidence that both were working with Large Professor and a very young Nas spent time hanging around BOTH of them. He used to go to Eric B's house to write and then he'd spit for them dudes. Eric said they couldn't believe he was only 15 or 16.
