Definitely ‘79! You should hear a live version of Summer Madness where they added vocals with a melody from a song they had called Winter Sadness (no joke). At some point it goes into swingin jazz beat & during trombone solo, background vocalese (no words), pretty cool! Also you probably heard Will Smith’s on Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince’s Summertime, which sampled this. Look & the Gang had a great run 70’s into 80’s, & are still hittin it today, like on the road.
This was when Kool & the Gang was into their disco funk. This jam was a staple played in all the dance clubs. This group had a whole stream of hits on the pop and r&b charts.
This was Kool & The Gang's reset after the early to mid 70s. They revamped their sound and added a new lead vocalist, JT Taylor. You should hear the full album or 12 " version. And FYI There's a live version of Summer Madness with jazzy background vocals that is a must hear!
Great Band that's been around for awhile. Check Funky Stuff by them. Another song I've never seen a reaction to Vibin' by Boys to Men. They have a lot great guest Rappers. .
You think this is good just listening to it. You should have been in the roller skating rink with your skates on and on the floor when this song started playing. The floor would get packed by everyone.
Hey, I’m not sure if you already reacted to this song or not but since you liked Kool And The Gang so much , check another one their singles “ Open Sesame “ !!! Great song of the 70’s Funk era! I’d love to see your reaction! Here’s the link. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-OuKzkYcgxsA.html. Great little video also by the way. lol
Oh yeah, also a “Open Sesame“ is on the Saturday Night Fever Soundtrack starring John Travolta. He was nominated for an Academy Award and the soundtrack album won 5 Grammys!!!
