I was expecting another cutesy Girl Idol Group. Wrong again. Such an edgy sound and Attitude. And what a diverse group of Members. They all seem very different from each other. I wonder how they get along. The girl in the middle has such charisma and presence, as well as unique eye make up. ^^

the fact that soyeon rejected the vocal teacher from cube ent and looked for a personal vocal teacher for the members who could improve the distinctive vocals of each member. because soyeon believes that if they were all taught by the same vocal teacher, then their signature vocals could change. that's why their vocal colors are different and interesting

@@komerican-og(G)i-dle is the first girl Group in kpop history that is producing and writting their song since their debut, short story is that their company failed in making a debut song for them and the girls were tired of waiting so Soyeon took the matter into her own hands locked herself for 3 days in her room and made latata and it became their debut song, for some time Soyeon was the only one who was making the songs for the group but Minnie and Yugi also were interested in making songs and Soyeon was happy to hear that and now all 3 of them are creating songs for the Group, I don't remember the exact number but both Minnie and Yugi created around 15 songs and Soyeon created around 80 songs, Soyeon also is even creating songs for other kpop idols, that's why (G)i-dle is very respected in the industry, they have full Creative freedom with their music and they are not afraid to talk about some controversial things that other idols are just too afraid to talk about

Jeon Soyeon participated in Produce 101 when she was 16, she was told she was talented but she wasn't pretty enough to be an idol. She Participated in Unpretty Rapstar 3 where she finished 3rd. She Debuted with a self written and co-produced song called "Jelly" and later another song "Idle Song" which was a teaser for IDLE's debut. She wrote and co-produced their debut song "Latata" because their debut was being delayed because they didn't have a proper song to debut with, making them the only girl group to write and produce from debut. Soyeon is often called " Female Zico" because of her all rounder skill and is often compared with G-Dragon. She is SM Ent. favorite non SM artist, she has alot of collabs with their artists. Rolling Stone Korea dubbed her "Empress of KPop" (she refused it). MBC Entertainment called her "Most sought after Idol" PSY likes her, he often speaks about her, he calls her "genius idol" Jay Park called her "rap princess". Tiger JK called her a "genius of her generation" She won "female Multi-entertainer of the year" in 2022 She has more than 23 collabs with other artists. Her Solo Album debuted @ #1 on iTunes in 52 countries, making her the 3rd female idol to do this. Soyeon won MMA Songwriter award, making her the secon female idol and only girl group idol to ever win it, (IU was the other one) She is the only female idol songwriter, composer and producer to get 2 back to back songs with Perfect all KIlls Consecutively, and the 4th group to achieve multiple Perfect all kills consecutively.

Hehe it's so interesting to see someone that has absolutey no experience with (G)I-dle see this Killing Voice. Soyeon (the one in the middle) is properly one of the most talented idols of the last decade. Not only is she probably the best female rapper in the industry in the moment, she is also a very good singer and dancer and has produced and written ALL of these songs except Popstars. 2022 was their year with two absolute smash hits with Tomboy and Nxde. What makes them so good and interesting as you already noted is the multitude of different voice tones they have and the types of content they tackle. There isnt a topic that is too hot to handle for (G)I-dle, constantly empowering women and telling uncomfortable truths.

Very good reaction. Gidle is known for their bold concepts and making their own music which is really rare thing for girl groups. What i like about them is that they not only make such a bangers but also their music has always important and deep message. They are really one of the most unique groups. But off stage they are such a crackheads IT might be hard to believe but they really are 😂 I wonder if you would like to discover them more ? It feels like they intrigued you a little bit.

Yuqi also was in the producer chair. Minnie and Yuqi produces their bsides, it's like Minnie, Soyeon and Yuqi produces 2 songs each now

And forgot to mention, they don't really care what others say about their comeback, they always produce and release songs despite criticism from their own staff and crew. And as Soyeon expects, the song indeed becomes hit usually. Since they do most works themselves, I always feel their genuineness in their comebacks, since they do what they feel like doing. The amount of criticism Nxde and Tomboy had.... I wonder how they boldly handled it that well and yet made it a hit.

Queencard aswell. I'm proud of them for doing whatever they want despite the criticism. I know a lot of older fans would probably disagree, but they get better and better each comeback imo (even though Lion is still my favorite title track).

Another fun fact about SoYeon and her relationship with Cube, their label: when Soyeon realised that having the same vocal coach work with all the members was making them all start to sound alike, she made Cube hire different vocal coaches for all the members so they could keep their individual vocal color. That is why to this day it is so easy to tell apart who is singing on any (g)I-Dle track. Also, Shuhua, the one on the far right in the yellow dress, might seem like she is all bubbles and flowers, but don't get fooled, she is the definition of the savage maknae. Her soft exterior lulls you to peace, then she shreds you with a single word... And how do the members get along off-stage? By yelling a lot...

@@Prautselink That's the way I heard it, but I admit it's kinda hard to get the definitive story about exactly how it went down since the story has been shared and re-shared and thus has probably been distorted. If anyone has a solid source as to what actually happened I'd be glad to know exactly what happened

Soyeon also came up with their group logo herself with the English letter “I” with the Korean word for “dle” laid down next to it. So it means a group of different individuals coming together. the company created the (g) to their name that the members didn't know why they added the “(G)” but it is presumed it was because they were a rookie group that wasn’t known and they wanted the group to pop up in the search engine instead of children when searched

I remember reading during their previous comeback that their group name had an effect (maybe intentional) where searching for children nxde would have the song pop up instead of other unsavory results. They were filtering the results and in the lyrics taunting and insulting those that came across it. I’m not sure if that’s actually how it would play out but it’s an interesting notion at the very least

Soyeon was on a makeover webshow earlier that day. Her eye makeup is from that show. She almost removed it because she didn't want to clash with the other members who agreed to appear with minimal makeup for this show.

You pointed out Soyeon's makeup. She actually was on a show earlier that day and had her makeup done as a part of the show. Soyeon, the one in the middle, wrote the lyrics to every song you heard except Pop/Stars which was originally a song by Riot (League of Legends) which had put together a group called KDA which only Soyeon and Miyeon originally were a part of.

The my bag song is written by soyeon for her members. Each line of each member is her pov on how she sees them. So those lines sang by the members is actually soyeon describing thrm. That is why my bag is the song soyeon dedicated for her members for the fans and new fsns to know their individual colors

The "Queencard" song is sung in the MV while Soyeon is under anesthesia and dreaming about what it will be like to be a "Queenca" after her plastic surgery. (She doesn't get the surgery). The weird lyrics reflect the camp/satire nature of the dreamy lesson.

thank you! really enjoyed your commentary. idle music, the production, arrangements, and concepts are diverse as their voices are. it's funny, when they were trainees, Soyeon refused vocal training courses for the members and insisted to allow everyone to shine with their own vocal colors instead of fitting the kpop "meta" vocal style. i love her so much for that.

Pop/Stars is not actually G-idle song. It's a game company (league of legend, riot game) that want to promote the game by making music. So the company call singers from american and korean to sing the 'pop/stars' by a make up kpop group called K/DA. From american they have Madison Beer and Jaira Burns, from korean they have the middle girl (soyeon) and the white outfit girl (second girl name miyeon). It's such a good song, it topped billboard number 1 (lol i know that's crazy 😆). Pop/stars mv now it have 500+ million views on youtube. Pop/stars have live performance too with real human and augment reality (some kind of AI). And many people became G-idle fans because of pop/stars. Oh and the game company make album too for K/DA. Shuhua(the one in the yellow dress) is not best according to vocals, BUT she has amazing stage presence!! She's amazing with expression, and you can really sense her confidence. The girls are really different, but that's honestly what i LOVEEE about gidle, and I agree that Soyeon is very charismatic!!!!

I know they are considered a 4th gen group - but they have never felt that way to me. I think they fall between 3rd & 4th. I had the pleasure to see them live in Chicago... phenomenal show. great charisma and so much personality. They refuse to be classified - and their vocal colors are so incredibly diverse. The two on the right are definitely the more exuberant (Shuhua, the one you described as 'not edgy', has so much personality). and Yuqi (green top) has one of my favorite voices in music - such a rich lower register.

I hate to say it but CUBE has always had EDGY girls. From 4Minute, CLC, (G)I-DLE and Lightsum. These girls deserve so much better. I have to admit, CUBE may suck at managing their artists but they do have an AWESOME eye for TALENTS.

yes the girl in the middle , she's soyeon , the leader and the producer , she's the the most famous female rapper among idols, the one with the black pants , braids and bangs, she's Minnie, from thailand , the most mesmerizing female idol .Then it's Miyeon , the group's princess , and ofc then it's Soyeon , and then it's Yuqi (pronounced "ouki 우기", she's chinese ;she's just so cool with a deep voice and finally the bubbly girl is Shuhua (pronounced Shooa), shes the yougest ,the cutest and she's from Taiwan .actually they used to be 6 members but soojin left. Finally the group name pronounced as just "Idle" not "Gidle" and for the G it stands for Girl so in korean "yoja , idle 여자아이들"; please react to them more and start with recent one "Queencard and Allergy".

The girl with the eye makeup in the center is Soyeon and yes she is the leader and producer of the group. Since I am also kind of new to this group, all I know is the left most member with black pants is Thai, the right most is Taiwanese as I remember and the one in green top next to the right corner idol is Chinese. I like them for one of the same reasons I like Seventeen, because I think they are the only girl Kpop group who are self producing, I might be wrong, there might be some other group I might yet have to know. The leader (rapper) was named Empress of Kpop by Rolling Stones Korea. They are Self Produced Group. First Kpop female group to be a Million Seller with Self Produced Music. Almost all their songs is Written, Composed and Produced by their leader. With 2 other members also being producers.

Soyeon did a song with BIBI (she is a singer under Tiger JK's label, I really like her unique voice); and with Lee Youngji (the same host of the drinking show you reacted to). It's called "Is this bad B**** number"... All of them killed their parts, but I believe soyeon had the fastest female idol rap in that song.

Actually, G(IDLE) was originally a six members girl group, but they lost one of the members (Soojin) because she was in a bullying scandal, she was kicked out before she was found innocent, the members tried to protect her but the company seemed to really don't care, they didn't even tried to deffend her properly. So they spent more than one year in hiatus (a very dark and sad year for GIDLE and neverlands) and came back as 5 members with tomboy, in which they putted A LOT OF EFFORDS and became one of the biggest hits of 2022, they rose up to one of most noticed and anticipated 4th generation girl groups. Ps: Although the members stepped up and worked all out, neverlands still miss Soojin a lot, she was a really amazing artist, hope she is doing well. It is really hard to remember how she was wronged and had her dream taken away like that

They'll bite you off when you said something bad to their so called "IDOLS". I actually like their songs but I also find it a little cringe but still goooooddd songs.. God bless everyone!

You are on point. Different fandoms have different level of protectiveness. It is especially difficult if you are trying to be honest. It will be so much easier if I jumped up and down and acted like I loved everything. However, This group was very special. I had preconception from their image but as I learned more about them, I respected them more and more. This is only team where I put in a lot of time doing English translations for their songs. And it was worth it. ^^ So much more depth than I ever imagined. And also, this fandom is not very scary. Very nice actually. BTW, I am being totally honest. LOL
