This song is to promote Japan and their slang that commonly used in Japan. It wasnt directly point out bad English though most asian country speak very little english in daily basis not only Japan.
No we didn't speak little english most of our languages have a mixed english in it but every asian country have different ways to pronounce English not because we are bad in English but it is our way to speak English where it cannot affect our beloved language that is why we still use our accent... The video tell about japanese culture. Also tell how foreigners like us who can't speak Japanese struggling in Japan country... The important words we can learn from Namewee video... I dont think Namewee has a hidden criticsm like you said.. just because his controversy back then you assume all his video like that... Its not from Japanese point of view, its about foreigner point of view... What i learned from this video is we as a foreigner need to learn basic Japanese if we want to visit that country, like others who visit your country Korea, they learn basic thing.. soo we become very closer and comfortable. Its easier ti live if we learn basic thing, especially about foods store..
i think it was more a joking about all the "japanglish" words used in japan (japanese words derived from english) the accent is completely different for the words and sometimes the meaning has also become different from its origins. i don't think namewee's criticizing it either, it's just funny since some japanese will use the words trying to communicate more easily with foreigners but the words sound just as foreign as regular japanese

If anything he is criticizing foreigners who go to Japan expecting people to speak English and thinking they know the place just because they are fans of the japanese culture (like myself).
I agree w' Chris, that Namewee isn't Criticising Japan but it's actually an official video from Cool Japan TV to teach foreigners in fun way "Japanglish" (borrowed English-American words pronounced the Japanese way in Japanese accent or “Katakana Eigo” (Katakana English) for tourists to be able to get around Tokyo during the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. For example if an American asks a Japanese on the streets of Tokyo where's McDonalds, they probably won't understand like the obasan /granny in the beginning of video unless you pronounce the Japanese way of Makudonarudo. "Japanglish" is used in Japan especially since Japanese words always end in a vowel.
Basically somebody interprets the last scene where the sumo guy tried to correct Namewee's pronounciation for the Japanese word, 'idiot' in English as 'bakayarou' in Japanese, is to metaphorically symbolizing the original and main intention for Namewee to write this song is never to mock the exclusive phenomenal Japanglish in Japan, and also to show a common situation ----- whenever foreigners/non-Japanese native speakers try to speak Japanese too encounter such situation where the foreigners can't even pronounce those Japanese words properly. Vice versa. The way of Namewee pronouncing 'Bakayarou' brings another totally different meaning of the true original word the sumo tried to teach him. Morale of the story, before you tease or mocking somebody else, stand in front of your mirror and look at yourself thoroughly first before start to speak out any bad words. Basically Namewee is try to narrate the phenomenon (like distinct cultural language pronounciation and mentality) which happen like almost every corner in this Earth. Namewee is a great artist. But he got into a very serious case when he made a remake of the national anthem, of course with hidden criticism and such, and that fired up the whole nation. You can google him up and you can see it there're many articles relating to his controversies. Too bad, he really is a great artist. And i really like Tokyo Bon. It's catchy although i find the lyrics amusing. In a way, the song is good in summarizing Japanglish. Living in Japan for a year sure makes me able to relate to the song. It can be a bit offensive to Japanese, but i dont find any harm in the song though.
hey. Maybe you don't know but there are really many people who think some japan and chinese costumes are very similar. They just not used to it very well.
Because Japan learned Chinese's culture far from Dinasty Tang...There are Kanji in Japanese writing system, so this is the proof. Japanese well kept some of the ancient Chinese culture and turned them into typical Japanese style. So you can see many similar things comparing each culture. Honestly, Chinese can easily learn Japanese, because most of the pronunciations in Kanji is very very similar to Chinese words. That's what you need to know

The song teaches us that there are many English words in Japanese, but they are pronounced differently, cause a consonant can't stand alone. So they show how the most important "English" word in Japanese are pronounced. It's also funny how the foreigner only says famous Japanese words like brand names.
Actually he has a song called 全民偶像k-pop idol And you're right, it's about plastic surgery. But I think it wasn't as good as Thai Cha Cha and Tokyo Bon etc. I would like to recommend other songs of him which I like. 1)老母Mother (this song is not a funny song and he sang this song with his mother and she sang really well) 2)學廣東話learn Cantonese (he sang many Cantonese foul languages in the song,foreigners may not understand but the song is good) 3)飆高音high pitched I hope you guys would like these songs :)

Most of the word in this lyric is using Katakana (Japanese language pretending to be English). That why is so funny. To someone who only know English, talking in Katakana don't mean shit to them.

The video of course is about that are many japanese people who can't pronounce correctly english. but at the end he don't get that word he said to sumo guy. Then he tried to teach him. but even though his japanese is also wrong. It's very common that a foreigner haven't a good pronouce at another language.
バカ野郎 (Bakayarou) is commonly mispronounced "Bagero" in Malaysia because that is the pronunciation that was handed down over the generations since the Japanese Occupation. That's the joke at the end ;)
I realize this is an one year old post. But you're right the old lady does sounds a little Korean in that the two languages have some similar vocal sounds. the video seems more like a commonality video of many westernized cultures. people like similar food items, have similar needs, enjoy music and Japan is a fun place to travel. I've been to Japan a couple of times and the second time I went, I had to go to McDonald's because they were recently introduced into Tokyo at the time. nothing really negative about the video, and if you talk to any student who'll be in uniform that person would probably speak English. pronunciation in japanglish is derived from not being able to pronounce certain words without training. Words with the letter L do not exist in the Japanese language so R is used. English letters are read separately so MacDonalds has additional syllables in japanglish.

That is not japanese words. Its english actually, with japanese slang. What namewee want to show is as a foreigner, even you know english.. Its different in japan because of their slang. Its still hard to understand. At least, from this video we learn something right? 😁
