I think one more reason that Korean people look so young is because how accessible and affordable plastic surgery/facial treatments in Korean are. I think people don’t give cosmetic surgery enough credit. Sure all those topicals will help you in a very basic level but nothing will change your life like a HIFU face lifting treatment, Botox injections or dermal fillers will.
@crickettfenner8438
@crickettfenner8438 2 года назад
Maybe not so much surgery, though they do that occasionally. They are able to to get skin treatments at such a low price that it is extreme;y commonly used regularly. Laser , red light treatments and dermatologist facials. These are things which insurance rarely covers in U.S. , and is so expensive we don’t take advantage of the techniques that are available.
@Ash2theB
@Ash2theB 2 года назад
Correct term is Cosmetic procedures… “Cosmetics” used as a umbrella term from skincare, targeted skincare, semi permanent procedures one being dental cosmetics like whiting and braces or (maintenance procedures) like fillers, injections, and hi tech gadgets. Then you have permanent or limited procedures like plastic surgeries where Implants are more common which are limited due to complication rate or failure rate can be based on skin thickness and prior procedures done on that area. Very well taken care skin with skincare is still very important and the studies of actives or extracts have shown to be very beneficial. A great example is retinols/ vitamin a derivatives an active which has been shown to thicken skin or help with acne and blemishes. Also a lot skin clinics still use the “basic” skincare facials as part of their procedures packages on their clients and prescribe after care facials or their own skincare line for optimal results.

Well... You have a point.

Plastic surgery is not the main reason for people looking young. There is a difference between someone who has had surgery and someone who naturally looks younger than their age. People who look young naturally look like people of a younger age. Plastic surgery cannot replicate that.

Hey Odile! I'd like to ask if which is better serum for me the Sulwhasoo or Donginbi? I'm 26 years old. I'd love to hear your thoughts. Anyway. I bought Donginbi products because of youuuuu. I am not aware that I should use anti aging skin care like ginseng if I'd like to have a youthful look in my 30-40. (and that there's a cycle skincare that I should follow) Normally Im just putting a skin care that doesn't contain ginseng. Glad I found your channel. Thank you for sharing this. Looking forward for more hanbang videos

Hello, I've been also loving Panax ginseng for last 3 years. Also I keep searching all of the new researches. I would like to ask a question, how we are going to understand the age of ginseng with looking at products' ingridients? Or should we just simply visit brand's website to learnd that? Thank you in advance. Bengü

Hi, I reacently discovered your channel and I enjoy it, becouse I want to know more about Korean skincare. I have a question about the Donginbi essence. You say (and the brand claims), that this is the 100% ginseng extract. But the ingredience list is longer and ginseng is not even the main ingredience. How is it possible, that the claims are, what they are? I ordered it from Stylevana and paid for it and now I don't know, what to think. Can you please explain, how is this claim ment? Thank you, Klára. INCI: Water, Butylene Glycol, 1,2-Hexandiol, Glycerin, Panax Ginseng Root Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Ethylhexylglycerin

Hi, the ingredient list you mention follows the American labelling standards. The formula of the Korean version and the American version is exactly the same, the difference between the labels is due to the fact that every product imported in America is relabelled following the American standards. Hope that makes sense 😊

You just opened a whole world of knowledge for me, I had no idea there were so many differences. I'd love to know what you think about the I'm from Ginseng Serum, it seems to check the boxes, but can't be sure I'm factoring in everything, plus it is a lot cheaper than other serums you mentioned, so I wonder where the "catch" is.
@OdileMonodTheMonodist
@OdileMonodTheMonodist 3 года назад
I'm From is one of the few accessible brands that makes it very clear they're using cultivated ginseng (they even mention the place where it was harvested, which is impressively transparent!). Don't get me wrong, cultivated ginseng can be a perfectly acceptable option, as long as the company discloses the age of the plant used in the product, or at least the type of ginseng that could help you identify the age of the plant (white ginseng = 4 years, red ginseng = over 6 years). The age of the plant is the first factor to consider when you're in the market for a ginseng serum because plants that are less than 4 years old, don't have any anti-aging properties. The I'm from Ginseng Serum uses 6-year old Red Ginseng, and while it's not the same quality of the ginseng used by Donginbi for example, it's also a perfectly good option to start with without breaking the bank (better than the serum by Beauty of Joseon I mention in this video, for sure 😂)

very interesting as usual, I really love how informative and well done your videos are ("cultivated by men" at 5:10 made me smile... unless it is less potent because men can't really come up with decent ginseng - which is plausible as watering plants requires care and discipline and we tend not to be great at that let's be honest ;) )
@OdileMonodTheMonodist
@OdileMonodTheMonodist 3 года назад
It's mainly because ginseng roots act like sponges, so ginseng is only as good as the nutrition found in the soil where the plant was found. This is why wild ginseng's price depends on where the plant was sourced, for instance the best wild ginseng is said to grown on Jirisan mountain in Korea so the ginseng sourced from there is hella expensive! 😅

@OdileMonodTheMonodist
@OdileMonodTheMonodist 4 года назад
No problem at all 😎! The main function of Ginseng is to repair and restore the skin's natural balance, so studies have shown it's a great treatment for acne related to conditions like atopic dermatitis or a damaged skin barrier. It's a powerful anti-inflammatory so it's going to help calm down any redness/inflammation associated with all types of acne, but you should first understand what is triggering your acne. If it's due to a weakened skin barrier, Ginseng can 100% help you with that, if it's due to an overproduction of sebum, Ginseng is going to relieve the irritation and redness of the acne you have at the moment, but unless you're using Ginseng in combination with another ingredient that regulates sebum production and unclogs your pores, the acne will keep coming back. Finally, if your acne is related to hormonal conditions, it's hard to treat this kind of acne with skincare products, the solution could be related to your diet / sleep pattern / stress and so many other factors, so skincare products in this case can't really do much and you should talk to a doctor to come up with a proper therapy. I know it can be hard to figure out your type of acne by yourself, but if it can help I made a video on the Baumann system two weeks ago where I talk about an accurate way to diagnose your skin type. Obviously visiting a dermatologist would be the best option, but I think the Baumann system is a great way to start diagnose your skin. I actually have a friend who cured an unexpected episode of acne in 3 weeks thanks to the advise I gave her based on the Baumann system, so I think it's worth giving it a go!

You are really adorable and I thank you for the background information ✨ I have a question now, if you don't mind for information, do you think that the "Missha Misa Cho Gong Jin" cream to combat wrinkles could be a valid alternative to the ones you mentioned? 🙄
@OdileMonodTheMonodist
@OdileMonodTheMonodist 3 года назад
Thank you, you're too kind 🥰🙏 Generally, I find that Missha's Cho Gong Jin line is one of the best affordable Hanbang lines on the market, mainly because it's formulated applying authentic formulation techniques used in Korean medicine, which is something quite rare for entry-level Hanbang lines. That being said, they had to keep the prices down, so Missha used black ginseng as one of the core ingredients of their formula. Black Ginseng is a variety of Ginseng created in recent years because some people can't digest Red Ginseng. Black Ginseng offers great benefits when ingested, but it doesn't have many skincare properties (researches show that it has only some whitening properties). Overall, the other ingredients in the line do a great job at protecting, nourishing and rebalancing the skin, but I wouldn't expect dramatic anti-aging effects usually associated with other varieties of Ginseng. Hope this helps!
@OdileMonodTheMonodist
@OdileMonodTheMonodist 3 года назад
(One last thing) Looking at this picture images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/51qvkhC0%2B%2BL._SX466_.jpg you can see that the line contains also some Red Ginseng but this diagram represents a particular method of formulation used in Korean Medicine. If I had to explain it simply, the ingredients in the outer circle are considered "assistant ingredients", meaning that the quantity/concentration of those ingredients in the formula is quite low. The concept is quite complex to summarise, but if you'd like to learn more about it, I'm doing a post on this formulation method on IG next week because I recently reviewed a product that uses this same technology!

@OdileMonodTheMonodist 3 года назад
Hi, I'm glad to hear it was useful. The essence doesn't contain any fragrance (it's 100% red ginseng extract), all the other products you see in the video contain either fragrance or essential oils. Unfortunately it's almost impossible to find Hanbang products that don't contain either fragrance or essential oils, many herbal extracts used to make these products have a not-so-great odeur at their natural state 😅 so companies try to make them a little more pleasing to the nose which I know it's pretty frustrating if you have sensitive skin 😰 The price tag is due to the fact that good quality ginseng is insanely pricey for the reasons I explained in the video.

I am so intrigued by your comment that Wild Ginseng is around $2000 - for what amount? Is that per pound?
@OdileMonodTheMonodist
@OdileMonodTheMonodist 2 года назад
Per root actually 😌 wild ginseng is a small plant, and the size is not necessarily considered an indication of quality. Its market price is determined by the age of the plant, morphology, and growing environment. This is a video by a Korean creator where he shows a $500k wild ginseng root and it can help you get a sense of how these plants are usually sold ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-O8OdyToc6iQ.html

I looooove that essence! I said in this video that the Donginbi essence is one of my two favourite essences because the Whoo's Bichup Essence is the other one 😂 Many people compare it to the First activating Serum from Sulwhasoo, but I must say I find the Bichup essence a lot more moisturising/nourishing

I was planning to buy a hylauranic acid cream. Now i am confused if i should go for sooryehan ginseng. I am 22
@OdileMonodTheMonodist
@OdileMonodTheMonodist 4 года назад
It depends on what you're looking for. Hyaluronic acid draws moisture into the skin and helps the skin hold onto it It has anti-aging properties because as you age, your skin loses the ability to retain moisture. Ginseng instead works to rebalance, repair and strengthen your skin's defenses, so even if it's not technically a moisturising ingredient it will also increase the ability of your skin to retain moisture as HA does, just with more additional benefits.

Yes I know that cream, I used it before. I does have a very rich/heavy texture that is better suited for very dry and aging skin. Depending on your skin's condition it might be too much: it contains lots of plant oils (which is not a bad thing per se), so some skin types tend to break out more easily with this type of products. If it's your case but you'd still like to us e Hanbang products, I'd recommend to look out for products that contain plant extracts instead of oils.

It broke me out, I was hoping it would make my skin better :( Too much oils and fragrance
@OdileMonodTheMonodist
@OdileMonodTheMonodist 4 года назад
@@Happymijo22 I'm so sorry to hear that, especially since products from that line are quite pricey :( Sooryehan has a line specifically for skin types that tend to get easily congested and it's called Hyo Water Spring (but like most Hanbang products, this line too contains fragrance but not as much as the Hyobidam line I must say)

Why are you recommending products with alcohol and perfume in them when these are known to be bad for skin?
@OdileMonodTheMonodist
@OdileMonodTheMonodist 3 года назад
Alcohol and fragrance are only irritating if your skin is sensitive to them. There are tons of videos on RU-vid debunking the myth that "alcohol and fragrance in skincare are bad", it's ok if you personally need/want to avoid them but stop spreading misinformation.
