As a Moroccan i went once to a Korean restaurant and the waiter asked me if i wanna some cucumber with soy sauce and i said sure why not...few minutes later he brought me thiiis and it was raw not cooked...i said you are mistaken it's not my order and he just smiled and said this is cucumber.....but but but cucumber is green right? 😂 i can't forget how much we laughed
I remember holding sea cucumbers as a child and thinking why is this cucumber alive? That is coming from the person who also thought a little jelly fish was a bubble and tried to pop it.
Sea cucumbers have regenerative purposes Even if cut into a million pieces, if in the right place and in the right condition, they will grow back Not in this case apparently
The taste of sea cucumbers has a unique texture and flavor of the sea. It's fantastic to eat sushi with sauce. Of course, people who haven't had much sushi won't understand. I used to be like that when I was a kid. That sticky liquid prevents constipation and stomach cancer. In Japan and Korea, people gather the entrails of sea cucumbers and cook them separately. It's very delicious and expensive. Qin Shi Huang, the emperor of China, ate sea cucumbers for his eternal life. In Korea, Japan, and China, sea cucumbers are called three great ingredients. It used to be a very precious food ingredient.
@@rimacconcept678 and indians would ask you how about the cows? if you eat any meat , don’t finger wag at others….historically dogs were not pets in asia, and different famines and blights would mean people would eat any non-human
Semirotta The oceans may as well be an alien planet. It’s mostly uncharted territory and considering life started there it only makes sense that it would the most diverse lifeforms.
That is true and in a way I want to believe when ever fish or any other underwater creature sees one of us land creatures, they are like "whoa! I just saw an alien". :'D
A carne desses animais marinhos têm tanta terminações nervosas que eles continuam a se mexer mesmo depois de picotados. Parecem que ainda continuam vivos mas é só puro reflexo eletro-nervoso. Incrível isso.
Is it amazing?! I went there 2018 and found those places real clean and neat. From what ive learned there is an authority checking from time to time their sanitation. They need to keep it clean for their renewal of business permit just like other countries. Difference is, they really take it to heart when the government says “keep it clean and neat” ☺️
These little guys eat the red and green algea on the sea floor and poop out sand that is free of algae that causes red tides. We need them in our oceans.
yes its true soo delicious . ' i remember when im small me and my parents go to pick near the seashores,,itl look like scary and dangerous but its so yummy, but now because of people destroying environment seashores is affected, and sea cocumbers are gone!!!
At my place, the peel is washed with chalk, then minted to ribbons and soaked with vinegar. You can add hot chillies to it. The results are surprisingly good. I like it a lot.
sea cucumber is one hell of super food. It contains high amount of vitamins and excellent quality of minerals. and it tastes wondeful.. it just looks strange..
My late grandpa used to tell me that he and his siblings would grab some of these to cook for breakfast. They didn't even have to swim since sea cucumbers lived so closely to the shore. They were once very abundant. And now i look at my beaches where it's nearly nonexistent. Now they cost twice of tuna (even tuna itself is rather expensive), and while my grandpa caught cucumber-sized ones, nowadays you're lucky to get anything bigger than your toe
Its also used in traditional medicine in Asia. Its like an energy booster like ginseng. So call "sea ginseng". Its texture is like gelatin. Somewhat sweet in taste.
It's based on a series of starvation and over-population :D Much like the weird cuisine of Norway, where they were forced to use/eat literally all of every single animal. If it could be eaten in any form, they found a way, if not... use it in some way that involves food, or in getting more food. When starvation kicks in, we'll try anything... ANYTHING. Why do you think the chinese originally ate cats/dogs at all? Starvation. (it is banned nowadays though) or eating maggots or tarantulas for example, starvation makes us look at things we normally would avoid, as life-saving edible foods. And unfortunately, if our father's father's father's father's father ate it, then we will too. Thus, weird cuisine is born, passed down from poverty-stricken families.
That was BALAT HANGINAN bisaya. When expose to air it will melt slowlly thats why we catch balat hangin i put it with water. And the best recipy of the filipino of the balat hanginan is KINILAW
Oo masarap yan. Kapag kinilaw ang pagkagawa inihalo sa suka. My ibat ibang klasi ng balat kasi e. My makunat kainit at hindi masyado. Pro itong balat hanginan ang natatnge malambot lang cyang kainin. Sa cebu ako bisaya mahilig ako manguha nyan kasi malapit lang kami sa dagat ng cebu.
I bet this is really tasty! In Catalonia and Spain we cook a wide range of "strange" seafood which is delicious, starting from a type of white sea cucumber (espardenyes), to sea urchins, snails, anemones, barnacles and fish tripes. I get that some people might be disgusted but this is just a matter of being open-minded and respectful for other cultures. You can learn a lot from other cultures through traditional cuisine and I think is worth to try something to develop a real opinion about it. Otherwise, it's just prejudice
I wouldn't say prejudice. I think it's a matter of what you're used to. Several years back, I wouldn't have touched this because it would have been visually disgusting and completely foreign to my palate. I grew up hearing people could get sick from uncooked meat. Now that I've experimented some with unusual foods I still feel it looks disgusting, but I'd try it.
Ok, y'all are stupid. The person who commented this is telling you not to say that this is disgusting because it's a part of a culture. Just because you don't like or eat it doesn't give you the right to say bad things about it.
It’s very mysterious creature. We never know how old these things are. If you cut them into pieces and leave them in the water, they’ll live back to the normal size. Its revival ability is known as phenomenal.
I have never tried this. However some comments here express very bad attitude. Don't say other people's food is disgusting just because you don't eat it. Learn to respect first please
@@bhavikasicka3098 So you just don't eat nothing? lol how the hell are you alive? oooh, plant eater? There was a recent study that claimed plants feel pain and scream in ultrasonic waves when they are cut. lol
@@user-kl5qi2wh4o So since you care so much about plant lives, I'm guessing that you're vegan as well, correct? Because meat-eaters "kill" more plants than vegans do: plants grown to feed and fatten farm animals, as opposed to plants grown for direct human consumption. Thanks for substantiating my argument. :)
I kind of like the taste to sea cucumber. Had it once a long time ago, and it was a bit hard to chew and had some crunch. It gave a mild taste of the ocean, similar to the taste of sea snails/oysters. I don't know how it tastes cooked, but sea cucumber tastes really nice when you dip it with chojjang (red pepper paste specially made for raw fish).
It's nice eating sea cucumber as sashimi if you think about it. Because if you're a foreigner to the area, or just have never had sea cucumber, you can really taste the most complete authentic form of it. Especially, if you're not able to eat it on a regular basis~
I, personally, think they look tasty! Us Americans hardly ever get food like this. The most "exotic" thing we can really get without spending a fortune is sushi. It's fascinating to see this, I would love to eat it!
Those who are saying disgusting: why on earth are they even watching? I'm very picky eater when it comes about non veg but that doesn't mean I can just point out someone's meal. You should always respect others culture.
Mmh you can point out someone's food it's called communication.. ^^ it's not like you'll always get the positive feedback you want.. this is youtube, wake up
I wouldn't mind trying out sea cucumber. However ,I wonder if at their current rate of consumption by humans if they will become extinct in the not too distant future. I just recently watched a documentary that stated how these creatures are becoming increasingly on the precipice of becoming endangered species due to over fishing.
I remember when my wife's aunt brought fresh fresh ones from her island for me to try. it is considered to be a delicacy. It was truly a lovely thing she did for me. but it was like chewing on a shredded truck tire. chewing it was so hard on my jaws. I didn't want to be rude because I knew that she meant it as a treat for me. but after the second slice I just couldn't. the next day I saw my parents and told them this and they yelled at me and said I should have given it to them.
The sea cucumber tastes good, low in fat and high in protein. But in fact, the nutritional value of sea cucumber is not high, but the price in Asia is extremely high. The reason is that traditional medicine led by China mistakenly believes that sea cucumber can make people immortal. So, when you come to Asia, be sure to taste it once. But as food, sea cucumber is not as nutritious as eggs and milk.
@@pizzajam6494 I'm so sorry if I'm by any chance offended you.. I can't really speak English that well so I myself Sometimes doesn't understand what am I saying
this is called as gamat in Malaysia. we usually not eat this, but used in medical traditional, we process and make a oil and used to reduce the injury of the body
