A good tip that I remember reading was to listen to all the previous audio tracks for past papers over and over again at up to 1.5x regular speed. If you do this and get used to it the actual audio for the test will seem slower and easier to grasp.
She's my motivation to continuously study several Languages at the same time, to remain consistent, to trust the process and to remain organized. I had two years of Spanish, 6 months of Chinese, and I just started Korean. I, also, include ENGLISH GRAMMAR, so to perfect my writing skills. I study chinese Monday through Thursday, English On Wednesday's, Korean Weekends, (Friday, Saturday,Sunday- Currently mastering HANGUL) and Spanish Saturday's. ♥️She's now apart of my favorite Language Learner RU-vidrs list. I also, love Twin Cities Chinese, Conversational Korean (Amazing Voice♥️😩🌊😍🌼♥️), Li Chao chinese HSK review SWEETANDTASTYTV and TTMIK.
can you maybe make a video about how you learned to write essays in korean? can you recommend any books or websites besides italki? bc essays are something I have 0 experience with, when it comes to korean haha
This reminds me a lot of my TOPIK 2 in 2019. I was so scared and nervous and triple checked if I wrote my number correctly. And I also struggled with the time during the writing part even though it was a rather simple topic. And the vocabulary during the end of the listening and reading part was too specific. But I am glad I passed 5급! :D
I am Korean and your Korean sounds sooooooo good!!!! Words you use, pronunciation, accent and everything. It is definitely not easy for foreigners to master Korean accents but you must have put a lot of efforts into it. I’m 19 who’s learning French, Spanish, German and your videos are motivating!! Thank you for great videos :)
Congrats on taking your first Korean TOPIK exam! I’ve taken the JLPT several times so I can relate. Getting familiar with the test definitely gives you an edge but if you know your stuff I think you’ll do well regardless.
Hi Lindie, is it possible for you to make a video going through a mock/past exam paper and outline your thought process when you’re trying to answer a question? Also as you mentioned answering questions in a certain time frame is important so is there maybe a strategy? Thank you for your helpful videos! ☺️
I took the same exam and had similar problems. I guess I just have a tendency to focus on fancy grammar and forget that vocabulary is way more important to get your point across. But that's something to focus on in the future (: Thanks for the video!
@@LindieBotes Hi Lindie! I'm also from South Africa, and I speak Afrikaans and English. I REALLY want to learn how to speak Korean, but I don't know where to start. Do you have any tips?
I love watching this and your watching your Korean journey even though I don't plan on learning Korean. My friend is learning korean and I told her about your channel.
thanks for breaking everything down! don't think i'm going to take TOPIK any time soon (maybe TOPIK 1) but it's super helpful to hear about your experience!
Wow, this sounds kind of like the IELTS exam I took from English but in Korean and a little harder. I've been studying Korean only by myself but I plan to study the language in more depth in the future so I will be able to take the TOPIK exam as well someday. Hopefully I'll reach that level :).
Took this same exam and I had the same problem with the writing part, ran out of time and didn't manage the big essay to the end. Should have practiced writing more, but oh well, hoping for good results anyway
I echo your thoughts! I've been self studying for so many years and thought that my progress is now stagnant, especially since I don’t study it regularly due to lack of discipline. But by signing up for Topik II, it really forced me not to be lazy and I've learned so many new vocabulary! My exam is this October so one month left for me to hustle and since I am only aiming for Lvl 4, fingers crossed I'd be able to finish the papers well. Thanks for your tips!! :)
Lindie Im going to give you a big tip for the reading, especially because you said you had enough time but struggled with the last questions. Generally the topik exams have around an equal percentage of correct answers for each number (1 2 3 4 etc). So count up the numbers of answers you had for each question and then you can see what the most likely answer number for the last hard questions would be and pick the likely one. I did this and I got 98/100 for reading!
I ask people on the HelloTalk app. I just post a 'moment' and people are generally happy to correct me. I'd definitely recommend downloading this app if you haven't already.
I've literally bailed on not one, but two TOPIK 2's that I registered and paid for, solely because I was woefully unprepared for the writing section. The thought of sitting there going あ゙あ゙あ゙あ゙あ゙ and not being able to write anything, at the time felt like it would have done more damage to my study motivation than the test itself was worth. On the good side, I guess I'm pretty clear on where I need to focus!
I'm a Korean and I get motivated by someone who is striving to learn Korean language. It makes me feel to study English in depth. Maybe it is a reverse effect? haha
Hi Lindie! Is it possible that you could make a video on how you study Korean grammar. I have been struggling on finding methods on finding ways to study grammar and also finding resources. You are my favorite youtuber and you were my inspiration to learn languages! Thanks !!!!
Hi lindie I want ur advice regarding my Korean language study coz I took break from language learning bcoz of my college studies but I don't want to forget whatever I had learned so far in Korean any advice :) 😊💜
Only if you need to! Like I mentioned I just did it for fun to have some motivator to study towards, but if you need it for school or work in Korea you should take it. If not, really no need apart from measuring your own level or for fun if you enjoy the goal to work towards. I wrote a blog post here about should you take a language exam or not - maybe this will help you!: lindiebotes.com/2020/01/28/should-take-language-test/
Hi ! you are an inspiration to me in my language learing journey. I was wondering, which level (N4, N3,...) would you recommend to be at before learning a new language with another language that you practice ? (like you learned japanese using korean text books) I learn japanese for a couple years and would like to use JP text book to learn Korean Thanks !
Hi Lindie, I just took the 70 TOPIK 2 as u did. Even the exam invigilator told us that the test was quite challenged. This was my first time, too. I have learned for 9 months. However I thought u could achieve level 5 easily and in the meanwhile, I aimed for level 4 :p good luck
@@LilyOfTheValley-l8w Hi Wakio, shame on me, I can barely understand anything if I have no idea about the dialogue's context, evenwhen I have the context, I could understand ~50% the content depends on the difficult (term or slang, etc or not) . The reason is I spent too little time on listening. If you aim for Topik II level 5,6 or have confidence in making conversation, the only way is immersion and practice.
@@green_naruto14 Lol...my wish is to atleast be able to comprehend Korean conversations and be able to construct sentences by the end of the year, mostly am learning online with apps n listening to podcasts n watching RU-vid videos,i do plan on getting text books to atleast have structure in studying...seeing you've studied for 9 months wanted to know if its possible
@@LilyOfTheValley-l8w oh, it'll be possible if you put your heart in it. I believe if you start with basic conversation ( i.e: Naver has the Today's conversation), learn them by heart (not only memorize but also speak out loud), you will improve your ability to hear and make the similar dialogue. And it would be more helpful if you have teacher or Korean friend who could help you to speak more naturally. To be honest, chose this language was my mistake, lmao :v my company setup this course so we would have a chance to onsite at Korea.
after 2 intense days of studying with topik ii practice tests and you post this~ perfect timing!! i'm so scared for the essays and getting lost at the listening part if i don't know the vocab but these tips are so good omg
Wow Lindie, you're such n inspiration as always... Love that the channel is growing so much... I'm feeling challenged to be able to reach TOPIK I this year...
We have the same Korean tutor on Italki! What a coincidence ahahah Another great video which motivated me a lot after being told that TOPIK won't be held where I live this year
